Whatever reason you feel the need to vote I thank you for just voting.  Voting in America should be higher and the only candidate that is bringing out the vote is Bernie Sanders.  He is touching the heart of Americans and getting them out to vote.

This blog, no matter how insignificant is endorsing Bernie Sanders.  He is our only hope for real change in America. Bernie Sanders is the only hope we have to not have a Trump White House.

Please vote for Bernie Sanders in your state primary or caucus.

Mitt's 47% Problem

The whole problem with Mitt Romney being a Republican is that he is too rich to be a Republican.  This whole idea of him not being able to buy the White House by simply writing a check off of his Swiss bank account is ludicrous.  Many of his supporters agree with him at $50,000 a plate private party fund raiser at Sex Toys Is Us in Florida.  In his mind this is simply a real-estate deal gone wrong.  He would fire the broker but he never took the time to see who was actually listing the property for sale.  He likes the neighborhood, he generally likes the neighbors, and he would support the local politics if it wasn't so damn emotional.  Other than that he might sublet the White House to anyone that can pay the rent.  Why can't half the nation just accept the fact that he should be KING?  His check will clear?

What do we American's really think is going on in politics?  It isn't about what you think.  It isn't what I think.  It is what the best and richest think that matters.  Can you write a big fat check hoping that it will give you billions in return?  No you can not.  All of them 47 percenters should just suck it up and vote for Mitt anyway.  And if you are sick and unable to afford health care then you should just die.  He has a plan to fix that.  It is the Just Die plan.  Does he or does he not look better in a business suit or not than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?  Does he or does he not have more influence with the people that can change America?  Even if they choose not to, he has their attention.

For some odd reason I really miss the good old days when real political candidates ran for president.  People with character.  People with a mission.  People that truly loved Americans.  People that didn't have to worry about their past because they lived an honest life.

It turns out we don't have to wait.  Presiden't Obama and Joe Biden are NOT Mitt Romney and baby boy toy Paully Ryan.  But if we ever want a Monarchy then I'm voting for Mitt and Fitt.  Till then, vote with your other 47 percenters and vote Democrat across the board in November.

Census Shift in Political Power

Some of the folks on the right side of the political aisle might be chuckling over the political shift of lost seats from the Northeast to the south and west of the nation but it is actually a double edged sword. Census results for 2010 have turned what was up and what was down upside down. Ergo the house of representatives is all in a tizzy over lost or won seats in red and blue states.

WASHINGTON — The Census Bureau rearranged the country’s political map on Tuesday, giving more Congressional seats to the South and the West, and taking away from the Northeast and the Midwest, in largely anticipated changes that will have far reaching implications for political life cycles over the next decade. – New York Times

Speaking as someone from the left side of the political spectrum, I look at this whole situation as a win for new political blood in states where there was nothing but desert before. It is all just a matter of perspective as to how the nation is just a bunch of migrant Americans that just happen to love warmer weather. Most of the movers are retired voting Democratic voters moving into warmer climates where they will vote. DNC operatives know this and now it is clear that some of those red states in the warm climates have an influx of blue state voters that just might want to be heard.

Time for the people that know how to actually run a political campaign and influence voters to start spending some time in states they thought were a “gimmee” to Republicans. There be Democats’ in them there states now!

Look at little old me for instance, once a New England die hard liberal now living in the land of the “Show Me” state of Missouri. Am I going to vote Republican just because my MA turned into MO on my return address labels? Hell no!

Obama Bails On Public Option

President’ Obama and his spin doctors announced today that they are not blindly tied to the public option for healthcare reform that he fought for during his campaign for the Presidency. The translation of that statement for those of you that do not speak Politicism is that the private healthcare insurance industry has won the battle once more. Fifty million people will still not have health care and the cost for those of you that do will continue to rise unabated.

WASHINGTON - Bowing to Republican pressure and an uneasy public, President Barack Obama's administration signaled Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.

Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives instead of a government-run plan. Such a concession would likely enrage his liberal supporters but could deliver Obama a much-needed win on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.

What it all comes down to is yet one more politician that happens to be the President selling out the millions of people that fought so hard for him to get elected. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were the only ones with workable plans for a public option for health care during the election and that is why it was basically a battle of the super stars of politics right down to the actual vote in the presidential primary. And a public health care option is why so many people worked to elect a Democratic party lead congress in both houses.

As a Democrat, and now somewhat progressive in thought person, I feel like I just got stabbed in the back. If President Obama wanted the full healthcare bill passed then he could have simply negotiated with his own political party to get the job done. It makes no sense to me why he is even considering Republican debate on this at all. Or could it be that the healthcare insurance industry saw the potential to be knocked off like a Soprano character if a public option was passed by the congress and used its own negotiating powers to kill it instead? That sounds more logical. I find it unbelievable that the political party with all the votes to get real healthcare reform passed was or is being handed its head on a silver platter courtesy of the opposition. I’m not just upset with my President either, my political party ran for cover at the first sign of trouble when it came to healthcare. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and Senate President, Harry Reid may have said they were behind the President on healthcare reform but neither was willing to fight for it in the congress.

In the end the health care insurance industry will be handed free money by the government courtesy of the GOP as long as they (wink, wink) promise to cut cost to consumers. Ten years from now there will be not 50 million but 100 million Americans without healthcare but the government subsidy checks to the insurance companies will still be cashed. Isn’t that the way it always works, the little guys get screwed and the money gets doled out to the people screwing America over anyway!

Healthcare reform is officially a dead issue. Without the public option it is just another meaningless spending bill for special interest groups that have bigger teeth than John or Jane Doe in America. And that would be the way it is simply because John and Jane Doe don’t have healthcare insurance.

Just Roll With It Baby

With all the things going on in life these days we need to take a breath and just roll with it. Enjoy life and love the ones you have around you. So what if the neighbor next door has a D or an R next to their name on voting day, isn’t it great to have a neighbor that looks out for you and shares the spoils of their garden with you? Just as you do with them! Politics is one moment in time but neighbors and family are for life. We shouldn’t take one another for granted so just take a deep breath. Eight years from now the rolls of political fortune just might be reversed and then what? We are, and still will all be, American’s to the core.

Patriotism GOP Style

Hello Papamoka Readers! I would like to point out again just how blind Republicans are to their own hypocrisy. We all know how Republicans refuse to acknowledge their own guilt in government, especially when it comes to lies, war profiteering, debt spending and ignoring the rule of law, but they also refuse to acknowledge their own anti-Americanism.

Democrats have endured being called unpatriotic and unAmerican for years. I call it the "patriot card," since it's kind of like the "race card." Republicans play it all the time, and have adopted the tactic as a specialty within the party. It's one of their favorite blunt instruments used to pummel everyone who's not Republican, including independents and the politically neutral-by-nature, into seeing the left-wing [or any non-Republican] as bad for America. It sounds crazy, but it's true.

The real irony is that Republicans are openly threatening to our government all the time, especially lately, and their methods are often blatantly unpatriotic, if not worse. I'm shocked the way Democrats ignore it. Why don't we learn from the Republicans and start calling those REPUBLICANS UNAMERICAN, or ANTI-AMERICAN, since they are, and it's effective. Allow me to start by saying that RUSH LIMBAUGH IS ANTI-AMERICAN and UNPATRIOTIC!

Republican leaders have been casual with their remarks lately about how they want President Obama to fail. Limbaugh has been their torch bearer. The Republicans have not only been unpatriotic, they've been downright treasonous. Yes, there have been many Republicans in the media suggesting treason. Sean Hannity even posted a poll on his website offering his viewers the opportunity to choose how they would start a new revolution, and every option included a violent overthrow of some kind. So let's say it together: SEAN HANNITY IS TREASONOUS!

Would they allow Democrats to get away with the same kind of unAmerican speech? NEVER!! They would have been screaming bloody murder by now. They would have used the "patriot card" to CRUSH and discredit the Democrats - both the media and the leadership. WAKE UP DEMS, for this is what Americans care about! This is how they create impressions about OUR leaders. We need to point out their hypocrisy and their evil intent. The Republicans have been talking trash so we need to TAKE OUT THE TRASH!

What can we do to help? Let's point out - whenever possible - just how unAmerican and unpatriotic the Republicans are these days. Let's start calling them out when they try to undermine the government and our elected leaders. Let's use the "patriot card" to discredit THEM. You never know, it may ultimately lose some of it power, like the "race card," and fade away. That would be a great day.

We Americans Need to Learn from Our Mistakes

Hello Papamoka Bloggers - I thought I would try an experiment today. I was talking to a friend yesterday about the stimulus package and the Republican opposition, and something interesting happened during the debate. I found myself saying that I used to love to believe what the Republicans preach - smaller government and lower taxes - until I found out it doesn't work. So, what changed my mind?

I wanted to remember, so I began to recall my political past, and how I wasn't always what Republicans like to call a "liberal" Democrat. (I personally like the term "progressive," because it describes our thinking better.) I was a Democrat, just not the same kind. I was misguided.

Growing up in New Orleans, I campaigned and worked for Representative and later Senator John Breaux (D-LA) in the mid-eighties. He was a moderate "Blue Dog" Democrat, believing in many Republican issues at the time. Smaller government and lower taxes were high on the list. I supported many of the same positions, and even voted for George H. W. Bush after leaving the Senate.

I was young and foolish, and like so many Americans believed their stories about how smaller government and lower taxes would create a fantastic economy and society where success would trickle-down to everybody willing to reach for it. Reagan was a GREAT salesman, and charlatan. After the first Bush presidency, it all started to smell like old, rotten fish.

For those of us who were paying attention, the Lee Atwater movement under the first Bush began to show the ugly side of Republicans. If anybody wants to learn more about that political period, I recommend watching "Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story." It's an excellent documentary about how Republican tactics evolved to create Karl Rove and George W. Bush. Be sure to have a friend nearby while watching - it's VERY SCARY!

Anyway, Republicans at that time started to look negative, racially divisive (their "Southern Strategy" was in full swing), and unconcerned about the economics that help ordinary people. They were looking great at getting people to vote against their best interests. It was weird. They started to divide and conquer the nation based on "wedge issues." It was also obvious nothing was "trickling down" to help Average Americans. If anything, they were shipping jobs overseas and destroying the middle-class.

Unfortunately, most Americans weren't paying attention. By and large most Americans hate politics, and would rather be spoon fed slogans than do their homework. They didn't want to know or understand Lee Atwater or Newt Gingrich during the first Bush recession; they only wanted a promise of better times.

That ignorance led to support priming the gears for the Republican revolution, but fortunately for Democrats they suffered a significant set-back when the "Man from Hope" - or Clinton - came along. He was the kind of salesman Americans love. Unfortunately, Americans eventually gave Newt Gingrich and his Republicans Capitol Hill.

Before they won the bulk of their power, Bill Clinton and the Democrats passed legislation to lower the debt and raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans. Republicans called it "job killer" legislation, just like they did with the stimulus this week, and voted against it en masse. Democrats called it responsible government. They focused on reducing the Reagan-Bush era debt and creating jobs.

They Republicans followed-up with their "Contract with America," and despite being bold at the time, it was pretty much ignored and dismissed in the end. They were more concerned with acquiring more power, and they knew they could if they turned their attention to wedge issues, creating a cult-like following, and impeaching the President.

The real political irony of the nineties is how the Republicans took credit for the work of the Democrats. Incredibly, they convinced their flock, and many independents, that the greatest economic boom in American history was the work of Bush and the Republicans in Congress. Clinton's debt reduction initiatives and national stabilization programs were dismissed. Despite facts to the contrary, their ignorant, sheep-like constituents believed it.

Eventually, after creating a web of lies about their "success" and tactical wedge issues like gay marriage, the Republicans stole the 2000 election. Instead of Al Gore - who we voted for, we wound up with George Bush, Dick Cheney and more Republicans. It was a very sad day for the majority of Americans who actually voted to continue with the Democrats, and the well managed Clintonian economy.

The Republicans got to work on their "ill gotten gains" and focused immediately on castrating the government. In early 2001, George Bush and his team began installing incompetent, unqualified people into positions of power - EVERYWHERE in government. They were mostly loyalists it turns out; people they could count on to shrink what they saw as a bloated, inefficient and ineffective government. Unfortunately for them, it turned out to be the opposite. It turns out that less government led to less of everything!

Their version of the US government FAILED to prevent a massive attack on 9/11, FAILED to protect Americans from predatory lenders, FAILED to enforce financial regulations that created a housing bubble, FAILED to regulate Wall Street losing trillions in American savings, FAILED to provide assistance that led to the death of thousands after Katrina, FAILED to prevent war profiteering and incredible waste, and FAILED in just about every area of running the US government and helping the American people. The Republicans would later call it bad luck.

They pretty much FAILED everywhere, leading to the LOWEST APPROVAL RATINGS of any administration in history. They said they didn't care, but what else could they say. They were failures. Overall, the Republican principles that guided George Bush and Dick Cheney led to the worse government in American history, which contributed to some of the greatest disasters in American history.

At this unique time in American politics, listening to the Republicans continue to insist their principles of smaller government and lower taxes work best for the American people, it's important for us to assess what is right and what is wrong about their sales pitch.

So, let's try something we all do from time to time. Let's create a list of pros and cons, to help us visualize it. Let's explore whether our Republican friends should continue to believe their REPUBLICAN policies and beliefs. Here are just a few of my examples for now. Feel free to add your own.

PRO: Smaller government is better government.
CON: Republicans have proven smaller government is not better government. Size isn't the issue. It's about effective government, and the best value for money. Democrats like Obama support that idea.

PRO: Lower taxes help grow the economy and create jobs.
CON: Republicans proved that lower taxes are not enough. Most economists believe growth is encouraged by multiple factors, including government assistance related to education, health care, regulation/oversight, and all kinds of government stabilizing forces. Surgically applied tax cuts are good, but Republican efforts to simply lower taxes across the board have led to lower wages and bubble economies. It's also untrue that lowering taxes on the rich creates jobs - at least AMERICAN JOBS. The rich create some jobs, but how and where is debatable. It's also true that many hoard their money; the middle-class always spends it.

PRO: Less or no regulation is better for a free market.
CON: Republicans proved that reducing or eliminating regulations can lead to bubble economies and chaos. Republican-led deregulation has led to disruptions in every major area supporting the economy, including infrastructure, transportation, state and local economic development initiatives, health care, industrial safety/mining, industrial pollution, protecting the environment [for human health], urban planning/growth, executive compensation, investor protections, and much more. Deregulation has proven to be very dangerous to both the economy and people.

PRO: Transfer payments/social safety nets are harmful to the market and society.
CON: Republicans support transfer payments and social safety nets when it applies to saving large corporations or their own investments, but call it "socialism" and harmful when it's designed to protect individual, less affluent Americans. It's obvious to most Americans now that Republicans support the "privatization of profit and the socialization of risk." Republicans tolerate the "redistribution of wealth" as long as it benefits wealthy Americans. In the end, transfer payments like Social Security, Unemployment Insurance and Medicare stabilize the economy and society.

PRO: A strong defense is critical to American power and overall success.
CON: Just like Dwight D. Eisenhower predicted, the American military-industrial complex has become a behemoth that threatens to strangle the nation. Republicans are obsessed with American power. They have grown to believe in American unilateralism and hegemony. The truth is America must work with partners in today's multi-polar world, and those partners must be forced to share the burden. The industrial-military complex needs to be put on a diet, and Republicans need to accept that America cannot continue to go it alone. America needs to invest in a renewable economy, not just bombs and guns.

So, based on this little journey through time, I now see why I left the Republican sales pitch behind. Smaller government and lower taxes SOUND AWESOME, but are really nothing but a pipe dream when you begin to see them applied in the real world. Republicans need to realize that Milton Friedman was wrong. Republican efforts at supply-side economists are a failure. Free trade over fair trade is a failure. American jobs have become CRAP!

We took a chance on Republican principles, and Americans are overwhelmingly throwing in the towel. We're ready to go back to the principles that work. The Democrats didn't invent those principles; Democrats simply embrace what works. I hope the American people understand that and support what is right.

Republicans Hear a Who?

Good Morning Papamoka Bloggers - I was VERY HAPPY to read that three more Senate Republicans in key states will not be running again in 2010: Senator George V. Voinovich of Ohio, Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas, and Christopher S. Bond of Missouri. They join Senator Mel Martinez of Florida creating problems for Republicans in 2010.

So far this year, no Democrats have announced plans to retire after the current Senate term. Let's hope it stays that way.

Well, well, I guess GOP strategists and the far right wing-nuts are crapping themselves right now. How are you feeling Rush, Sean and Bill? Nervous? As long as Obama does a good job, and the Democrats in Congress represent the people's interests, then it's clear 2010 is shaping up to be another good year for Democrats.

The GOP has been devastated by losses in two major elections. Most impartial analysts blame Republican policies and George Bush, despite party propaganda to the contrary. The GOP didn't only suffer losses at the top, it also suffered losses at the local and state level. It lost key "red states" and lost party members in the millions nationwide. There is every indication that unless something changes, the party is in serious decline.

A key area of change that most Americans don't notice is how special interests will also change within the beltway's "K Street Culture" of lobbyists and influence peddlers. Those changes are important too, because the country has suffered for years under Republican special interest. Democratic Party special interest groups are not innocent, but overall they are well known to be more representative of the middle-class and average Americans.

Republican lobbyists lose influence and are replaced by Democratic interests. Special interest power shifts away from oil companies, the industrial-military complex and international conglomerates, to more people friendly groups representing the environment, education, health care for all Americans, and state and local interests. The trend will probably last for years.

The remaining Republicans must be feeling the heat. They will be running out of Washington influence, and will ultimately lose their ability to profit from their positions, ending up as the vocal opposition. The far right blow-hards will continue to scream into the winds of change, but will eventually lose power since most polls show Americans leaning Democratic on almost every major issue. It will be a very interesting reversal of fortune, and one that I will enjoy watching unfold.

The far right and FOX "News," along with the far right die-hards that comment on blogs like this one, will continue to blast for years to come, but they will also fade over time. Like the Dr. Seuss classic Horton Hears a Who, Republicans are pathetically struggling to listen for any tiny voices still supporting their positions. Unlike Horton, it's a losing battle. The world is changing, and only the Democratic Party is changing with it.

For those right-wingers who think I'm wrong, remember that it took decades after World War II for the conservatives in Britain to finally acknowledge the British Empire was lost. America has changed in a similar way, and unfortunately it will take just as long for hard-headed conservatives in America to admit the nation has changed, and not in their favor.

Miserable Republican Felon Ted Stevens Needs to Go

Good Morning Papamoka Bloggers - I have another RAVE this morning. Politico is reporting this morning that CONVICTED REPUBLICAN Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), the "misery of the Senate" who is facing possible expulsion from the Republican Conference next week, is "contacting his Republican colleagues and urging them "to give him a chance" and hold off on any such vote until his legal appeal is resolved."

I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE IT when an old miserable bastard like Ted Stevens, a man who has done very little for his constituents or for mankind, is being forced to BEG his fellow senators to keep his job.

This came about after Republican Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) publicly declared that he will offer a motion next Tuesday to kick Stevens out of the Republican Conference, thus stripping him off his committee assignments. In response, Stevens has been calling his GOP leaders and other colleagues urging them to hold off.

Politico is reporting that "Stevens is assuring his fellow Republicans that he will step down if he loses his appeal, but in the meantime, he wants them to hold off on kicking him out of the Republican Conference." I say THROW THE OLD CANTANKEROUS CURMUDGEON OUT!

I remember him from my days working in the Senate. He was a miserable old bastard then, and from what I read he's worse now. He has been a thorn in the side of the Senate for decades, and it's time for him to GO!

The longest-serving Republican in Senate history was convicted last month on seven counts of failing to report more than $250,000 in improper gifts. I don't care if he maintains his innocence and refuses to resign from the Senate. Drug dealers act the same way. The man is a convicted FELON and should be forced OUT, unless you Republicans want to keep FELONS in your ranks.

Stevens BEGGING his colleagues makes me feel very happy. Let's hope this is only the beginning of many Republicans begging for their jobs, or freedom from jail. Hopefully we'll come to a day when George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Donald Rumsfeld are all BEGGING for their freedom. I look forward to that day.

Another Pathetic Republican Campaign Tactic Fails

Good Morning Papamoka Bloggers - I ran across a very sad yet interesting article in the London Times this morning that highlighted just how desperate the Republicans are to discredit Senator Obama.

Dr Peter Millican, a philosophy don at Hertford College, Oxford, has devised a computer software program that can detect when works are by the same author by comparing favorite words and phrases.

So, of course the Republicans offered the good professor $10,000 last week to assess alleged similarities between Obama’s bestseller, Dreams from My Father, and the book Fugitive Days, by William Ayers.

Republican millionaire Robert Fox, a California businessman and his brother-in-law of Chris Cannon, a Republican congressman from Utah, made the offer. They hoped to break the big news story and destroy the Senator.

Millican ran the test and found it “very implausible.” Fox and Cannon lost interest when the professor made the results public. “I thought it was extremely unlikely that we would get a positive result. It is the sort of thing where people make claims after seeing a few crude similarities and go overboard on them,” Millican said to the Times.

I can handle it when they investigate something and admit when they had it wrong. That's why I consider the news just sad, or pathetic in many ways. The worst part is when they fake the evidence, evidenced by their many colorful, slanderous emails.

The really interesting point in the article is when they report that Cannon had got “cold feet about it being seen to be funded by the Republicans." Well, it has been seen, and so you guys do look pathetic. I'm sure they got tired of digging through the man's trash cans, so they had to resort to something. I really hope you people lose, because for all practical purposes, you deserve to.

I'm surprised FOX "News" hasn't spun the article to look like the professor found something against Obama. They lie all the time, so why not now? They probably did and I just didn't see it.

I must say, you guys have mastered negative campaigning. I know many of you are proud of your Rovian, Machiavellian ways. I know many fall for it, but the majority of Americans find it disgusting. In my opinion, you're nothing but liars and con artists.

If you do win, the American people will pay the price of your deceit again. Oh yea, and don't try and claim "everybody does it," because that "muddy the waters" Rovian crap doesn't work with me. You guys are FAR MORE NEGATIVE.

IF we win, and I don't take that for granted, I hope you Republicans take a good hard look at yourselves. I don't think you'll like it. It's VERY ugly.

Obama Double Digit Poll Leads

Battleground states are falling heavily for Barack Obama and by double digit leads according to MSNBC today. I believe these numbers are coming from the University of Wisconsin poll and this is what they show. Obama is ahead of McCain in Minnesota 19%, Wisconsin 13%, Michigan 22%, Iowa 13%, Illinois 29%, Indiana 10%, Ohio 12 % and Pennsylvania by 11%.

Just for giggles I went over to Real Clear Politics and plugged this information into the Electoral Map. I love this feature and find myself using it at least a couple of days a week. Mind you the map starts out with Obama at 259 and McCain at 157 solid electoral college votes, leaning states move the map to 306 to 157 in Obama’s favor. That leaves 75 electoral college votes in toss up mode.

If you change all the states leaning to Obama or McCain and then plug in MN, WI, MI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA all over to Obama and give John McCain all the toss up states (MT, ND, NV, MO, NC, FL) you end up with Obama winning 317 to 221.

If you look at the maps from another perspective and click on the “No Toss Ups” option, McCain would need to win OH, PA, IN, VA, NC, and FL to get to 270 to win the Presidency.

Hillary Clinton had no problem presenting a Health Care Plan for all Americans and so did Barack Obama. John McCain has nothing other than the same old same ideology of a free market manipulation where the Pharmaceutical industry writes our senior citizens health care plans. Begging of more corruption. It makes me wonder why he signed onto this legislations but signed off of every single bill designed to help veterans.

Two words, Doesn’t Care! Voting Democrat or Republican does not mean a single thing. Voting what is best for America more than ever is important not just to you but to the damage that has been done to your elderly parents Social Security benefits that you too will one day have to tap into but the bigger picture is that of being an American and looking out for those that can not or do not have a voice. Take out the right and left side of the political arguments, take out the flag waving and talking points. Toss it all aside and look at what the politicians have done in the last eight years to America. Do your own research. Do Not base your judgment on who you will elect as your next President of the United States of America on a campaign television advertisement or You Tube video from any political organization or for that matter from my comments on this election.

Use the gift that you have in front of you while reading this post to search Google, Yahoo, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Alta Vista, and every other search engine available to you.

You don’t need the questions to ask from me on your search engine exploration of who the real John McCain is. Veteran’s in need of serious care already know who he is. John McCain has voted against Veteran benefits over and over again. The Maverick is not who we all think he is. When McCain claims his POW status he is in fact slapping all of them in the face but you can do your own research on how he voted on Veteran issues.

Just because he wore the uniform, served our nation, was imprisoned in horrible means, does not mean that he is in the tank for veterans from any battle. His record as a U.S. Senator reflects just the opposite.

A good friend of mine at Bring It ON! reminded me of how much more Obama has done for change in America and the facts don't lie. Johnny McCain can not boast this kind of enthusiasm for Americans in all of his Congressional career.

Red state, Blue State, do your own Google Search on it or whatever means you like. One candidate cares about those of us under the five million dollar pay grade and the other has no clue. Last time I checked, I won't earn five million in my lifetime but I'm just a smuck with five daughters eaking out an existence in the middle class.

I'll let you know when the campaign gets back to real issues like Health Care for all Americans or actually caring about our nations Veterans! Education for the next generation that will provide our next leaders in govermnent. Real reform that makes sense in politics as it is today and not sound bites repeated over and over again till it becomes believable.

Huffington Post Declares Obama the Winner?

One could put my style of writing in the column of NOT a John McCain supporter but he does have some charm. I can picture Walter from Jeff Dunham fame, and John McCain both as elderly cranky, pissed off greeters at WalMart. Walter would be telling you to get your sh!t and get out and McCain would be manipulating the automatic doors with his garage door opener to slam them shut on slow walkers. Oh, and the banner from above is from the home page of the McCain campaign website? Espanol? Espanol and Republican is an election year oxymoron!

I’m not a huge fan of the Huffington Post but I am slowly becoming aware of some amazing writers on the site. Seth Grahame-Smith has an amazing piece on the outcome of the current Presidential election and I tend to see his point in some respects.

As a moderate voter that has in the past voted for Ronald Reagan for President, twice, and Mitt Romney as Governor my vote is not in the can for any political party. Sometimes our local, state, and federal governments need a kick in the back side to wake up. Reagan was by far not a perfect President but he was the first to step up to the plate to say that American’s should never be ashamed to be American’s and that touched my heart politically in a time when we were a pox on the world. Our military was a mess, our economy in the toilet and his efforts to end the cold war and bust the Soviet bank worked. Call him a monster for all of his other mistakes but we are no longer training our kids to hide under their school desks so to speak.

As for voting for Mitt Romney, when you live in a tax you to death state like Massachusetts where one party controls all the spending then there is no such thing as a bad tax. The legislators pass them and we the people pay them. Mitt Romney was a force to reckon with when it came to new taxes and held his promise to the state’s voters. In that respect, I would have voted for him again as a Democrat. Not all Democrats are tax and spend voters just as not all Republican voters are conservative. That would be an alleged definition that the press and political campaigns pretend to define with a wink and a nudge in the papers and on the television.

Personally, I don’t think this race is over till November but then again I am a political junkie with a huge monkey on his back. Even if Obama has $500 Million in his war chest, one very serious debilitating mistake can toss an election even when the odds are overwhelming to begin with.

It’s called a Recession

While all the politicians including the Hack in Chief of the United States are finally noticing that the economy is in a free fall the latest news everywhere is not enlightening on how to fix it. While one political party is calling for more tax cuts for the middle and upper classes the other is presenting tax cuts for the middle and lower classes. Stimulus tax cuts they call them. In a realistic world they would be called one layer of gauze tape to stop the bleeding of a lost limb.

Our nation is being bled dry not by outside influences but by our own behaviors as a nation. Rather than facing our worst fears we point out who is to blame and then head on over to Walmart or any other super store to save a few dollars on our household needs. It may not be fair to single out Walmart alone simply because every store you go into for any product your family needs and it has become increasingly harder to find products that are actually “Made in the U.S.A.”. Which should also mean made here and not just packaged here. All of the manufacturing jobs that used to make that tooth brush or that nail clipper or toaster are gone. Walmart is hiring part time workers though so you can make minimum wage being a greeter or cashier.

There is an enormous difference between a manufacturing wage and a retail wage. Huge difference! Our nations middle class economy is based in the manufacturing sector and when that is sold out to Wall Street and jobs shipped overseas, it tends to have a negative effect on local economies all across America.

Free markets without controls and rules are dangerous as ignored by the former majority political party and the latest reporting of the mega banks writing off hundreds of billions in foreclosed mortgages is outrageous. Without clearly written government rules, the industry of home lending is imploding on itself with bad loans for people that could not afford them to begin with and it is a self fulfilling prophecy. Greed will do that in a pyramid scheme when you leave the next guy holding the bad loan bag.

And one of the reasons that we've lost jobs, we're having trouble creating jobs, we're having trouble growing & strengthening the middle class is because corporate power and greed have literally taken over the government. - On the Issues.org

Instead of a “Stimulus Tax Cut” lets look at the highest affect of the economy and largest creator of the American recession. Oil prices. Everything in your personal life is bound to the price of oil even if you are a new born child. All of the food on your table has a transportation cost to get it to the market and then to your refrigerator. I won't even start on plastic products which are all oil based. You are not alone when you think that three bags of groceries should not cost fifty dollars when it was twenty less than six years ago. Transportation cost are passed on to the consumer in every industry product on the open market except the ones coming from China? They may now call it Black China as an accounting term rather than a political one. Government supports in China make the products the cheapest in the world and the cheapest on the shelf here in America.

Instead of a tax cut, we should urge our government leaders to propose a Legal Aid for America. awyers with a free will to go get them attitude with a government badge. How many of the best legal minds in America would sign up for a commission basis result of prosecuting market manipulation in the oil markets from any sector. We could call it the Green Beret’s of the Justice Department and just the site of any single one of them in the lobby of any Wall Street firm or Big Oil companies front office would set off the sprinklers in the CEO’s pants. Prices at the pump would drop and so would the preposterous ten and twenty billion dollar quarterly profits reported by the largest of oil companies. Not to mention the hundred million dollar bonuses for the top of the top on Wall Street every single year.

We need strong leaders and a strong legal arm of the government that is not beholding to the President no matter who it is. Our economy is being sucked down the drain because the friends of this current President are at the end of the money pipeline with his time left in office.

It was rather ironic that recently the most powerful man in the free world was forced to beg and kiss the ring of the King of Saudi Arabia to open the spigots to relieve the world oil supply needs after being rebuked by the King’s Oil Minister. Now that tells you who is really running the world doesn’t it.

Then of course there is the bleeding of our treasury to fight a war that has no end in the Middle East. Our nation is sending so much money into this endless pit that it has become an addiction of pride rather than an admission of the truth. Can’t fix it, won’t ever be fixed, and the people that live there don’t want it fixed. And yet the American people are screwed by the King of America and the King of Saudi Arabia.

I know that I personally thank our President in my own special way every time I fill up my tank. How about you? Do you feel no longer like an American and just another money chip on the political poker game table? If you do then voting now is more important than ever.

Back in the day, running for President of the United States of America was not defined by the character of your bank roll but by the character of the person running for the office. If I lived in Iowa or New Hampshire I would no doubt see the evidence of what a bank roll campaign is all about on my television every other commercial. Air time is not cheap and money talks non stop into your living room but it isn’t the real deal when you think about it.

My impression from the MSM is that the candidates for the most part are reacting to what people want to hear and not offering much when it comes to what they need to hear. Running campaigns on popularity polls rather than personal convictions is convenient and easy if you have a campaign war chest that can fend off the latest double speak of your opposing candidates.

I was reminded by a close friend that in the past you had to have a history of real leadership. Kennedy was not only the son of a millionaire but he was also a man that served his nation in a time of war that did not work out for the best but he lead his crew to safety. Wrong or right, he lead. Eisenhower lead our troops through the most difficult possible war in our modern history and with that leadership came the loss of many lives, some if not all he felt personally responsible for. Wrong or right decisions he lead our nation as a General out of WWII.

You tell me what sacrifices in life that any of the candidates other than Senator McCain have made to be worthy of speaking on the stump to be President of the United States? This is not an endorsement for McCain, I thank him for his service in the military and in the Senate but his style of leadership does nothing for me. I’m by no means saying that you have to have served in our military to be our nations President but you have to have the ability to show leadership other than a damn sound bite on the television in the form of an advertisement. I’ll go one better, all the rehearsed answers during the debates do not sound genuine given the time limitations of the debate process.

I’m of the firm opinion that if you want to be my President then you had better know what you stand for on all of the issues. Flip flopping like Mitt Romney has for decades, dodging questions on Social Security like Hillary Clinton or giving lip service to our nations security by many of the other candidates does not fly with me. Our next American President needs to have a very well rounded background to heal our nations wounds and bring the country back from self destruction. Not just at home but around the world as well. This President will not only have to command respect around the world but also have the astute knowledge that humility is also an American virtue.

Tell the voters what you will do and let the chips land where they will. I’m looking at the stack of well polished, well groomed and highly educated people running on both sides of the equation and to me there seems to be just one true star amongst them all. When you look at all of the campaigns from the perspective of what really matters to you and your family then you come away with a very different perspective of the so called front runners. It almost seems as if most of them went down to the college store and picked up the cliff notes copy on how to be the next President. We do not need the best jingle, the best photo op or the best speech to let us know who a real leader is, we see it in their actions. We need someone with plans, the ability to work both sides of the political spectrum, and of course the ability to communicate the needs of all of the people so that it makes sense to all of the people.

Our nation is at war, our soldiers are coming home in not just coffins but in broken bodies and the solutions needed to help the ones that lived is more important than any of the candidates think. When our nation cares for its warriors wounded in battle then it is caring for itself as well. Contact your possible choices for President and ask them about fully restoring wounded Veterans medical coverage for life and follow your heart with your vote.

Sick Kids and Cold Medications

Over the counter drugs for the common cold only mask the symptoms of the cold. I think we all know that. As an adult you are okay to take them but apparently there is a problem giving those same over the counter drugs to your children. We have become a society that trusts the medications at CVS or Walgreen’s over handing the kid an orange or apple every day to eat that naturally combat every day illness that hits our kids. We have become the parents that do not have time for sick kids. Over at the local pharmacy they have the solution in a bottle or pill that will allow junior to go to school because mom or dad can’t afford a day off from work. Literally and monetarily mom and dad can not afford a day off to care for a sick child at home anymore.

Buckle up your seat belts, the government is pulling all of the remedies to eventually get you to work out from under you. Over at MSNBC they have this to say about over the counter medications for your kids…

Federal health advisors Friday said over-the-counter cold and cough medicines don't work in children and shouldn't be used for those under 6. Although parents have doled out the liquids and pills for decades, the drugs have never been tested in children. The Food and Drug Administration's panel of experts concluded more studies needed to be done. - MSNBC

Now they tell us! Never tested on children but every single medication in my home says what the dosage should be used for children and they even give the weight just in case you have a tiny child by age or a child with big bones so to speak.

Here is a clue, the government never looked at the medications and whom would actually use them the most. I’m guilty of giving my children cold or flu medicine when the symptoms were at there worst. I followed the dosage by the child’s weight and age like a good parent. What parent wants to see their child suffer? Duh… other than Brit-a-ninny Spears …. None!

My mind wanders to why they are coming out with this retraction of FDA regulated drugs that are safe to sell over the counter last week but not this week? We the people will probably never know that answer because it is best that we do not know for fear of panic by the masses. God forbid that a parent should know that they were harming their children that was sanctioned by the FDA for years. Do you think that the cold and flu product benefactor industry would warn parents that their products were not tested on children or even young mice? What else hasn’t been tested on our nations children that we as parents give to them based on the product label?

Top of the grocery list goes oranges, apples, pears, and a bunch of other fruits and vegetables that our parents insisted that we eat to live a healthy life. I’m going to miss the hours of sleep I had when one of the girls was sick and a teaspoon of instant over the counter cure let them rest. But then again if they eat the stuff their bodies really need then maybe they won’t be that sick after all?

Back in the day, long before dirt was invented, mom used to stock up on fruits and vegetables when one of us came down with any bug. Having seven children she knew how to run interference when the latest and greatest health issue hit her family. She didn’t open up a can of chicken soup from Campbell’s, she made it from scratch. Tons of fresh vegetables, one or two whole chickens and lots of potatoes and salt. Whatever else she put in it kept the rest of us healthy.

Stashing the parental must have cold and flu medications is on my list of things to do. Not trusting the FDA when it comes to my kids and any medication even if administered by a highly educated physician is at the top of my list of things to watch out for.

Has the FDA been sold out to the highest bidder? It would not surprise me given the fact that everything else under this current administration is up for sale. What kind of government do we have anymore? Can we trust any of the medications anymore? Should our nations doctors trust them anymore? Lot’s of what ifs here and I’m not trusting any of the bastards. I love my kids to much to have any faith in what medication is okay for my kids to take and what is not. I’m questioning all of the over the counter products now and so should you.

Before you give your child a Tylenol or an Asprin or whatever an adult takes for any illness, read the product label and dosage carefully.

Stuck in the Middle

In every person there is the ability to do what is right and what is wrong. In politics it is the same thing. When people claim to be a left leaning liberal but they believe in the death penalty then they are not really a true liberal. In the same breath, when people claim to be a right leaning conservative but do not back the death penalty it does not make them a true right side of the aisle persona. On many issues we as a people can agree upon but the last couple of elections have labeled moderate Democrats and Republicans as either with us or against us. Some of us square pegs will never fit in that round hole if you know what I mean.

Stuck in the middle is what we are. I am a died in the wool person of liberal thoughts and actions but not all of my actions or reactions to any issue is what a true liberal is. When I see a police officer killed in the line of duty, I want to see the animal that killed them face the same sentence. I believe that life is sacred but in the same sense I don’t believe that anyone other than the woman pregnant should have a say as to how she deals with her personal situation. Some people including many churches would call me to task on that but in most instances it would be a man telling me how a woman has no rights when it comes to her body.

Religion in America is part of our political process but not part of our laws. Brilliance in our founding fathers was not lacking when they wrote the Constitution. If our nation was founded on religious reasons then we would always be at war to defend our nations faith. Separation of religion from our form of government is necessary to ensure that all of our people across American have the opportunity to live free. You as a person may not care for a particular lifestyle or choice of religious belief or lack there of but in the same context, they may not care for your choices either.

Stuck in the middle. Could it be that we are not really stuck in the middle but more open minded to many sides of America? While you shop down at the corner market you pick the items you trust but every once in a while you buy a new item. Same thing goes with politics and picking a candidate. If the new detergent will take out the stains and pains of the last decade or two then I for one am willing to give it a try. Sitting in the middle or moderate voter seats gives you the better view for the movie that is Presidential elections. You are not blinded by hypocrisy or religious dogma on who should be President. You have the upper hand because you can make decisions based on what you feel and not what you are told to feel as a person.

Check out the positions of all of the candidates and give the guy or gal in the number four or five spot (according to the MSM) a look.

Joe Biden, John Mcain, John Edwards, Bill Richardson and Ron Paul deserve to be looked at in the election of our next President.

Then again, so does Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney and Rudi Giuliani. The only difference is that some of them are claiming to have the election already locked up and in the bag with overflowing campaign war chests.

Ann Coulter Anti Jewish Equals Anti Christian

Ann Coulter must be out to sell yet another book given her latest comments. Some people might say that her answer to the baited question that she was given was an off handed remark. I tend to think that if it came out of her mouth then it lives inside of her somewhere that she thinks Jewish people need to be “perfected”.

What surprises me is that people actually buy her books. She comes out with these idiotic kind of statements all the time and yet she still manages to stay on top of the conservative go to list for all of the networks. Maybe the networks need to take a step back and look at the big picture and find someone else to talk to when it comes to conservative or republican issues. NEW YORK -- Jewish leaders condemned conservative commentator Ann Coulter on Friday for her comments this week that Jews need to be "perfected," denouncing her remarks as the rationale behind two millenniums of anti-Semitism.

The assertion by the controversial pundit that Jews are inferior unless they convert to Christianity alarmed Jewish organizations and put the television networks that give Coulter a platform in an awkward position.

Coulter, a frequent guest on cable outlets such as MSNBC and Fox News, has also made appearances this year on the network morning shows "Today" and "Good Morning America" to promote her books. According to a compilation by Media Matters for America, a liberal watchdog group, she's been interviewed on national television almost every day this month.

The National Jewish Democratic Council this week called on the media to withhold future invitations to Coulter, whose inflammatory comments the group said "often border on hate speech."

Coulter could not be reached for comment.

As of Friday afternoon, none of the network news divisions or cable channels said they would keep her off the air. But they moved to distance themselves from the right-wing author, even as they defended her right to free speech. – LA Times

Several of my friends happen to be Jewish and never in my Christian life have I ever looked at them and thought they needed to be “perfected”. Nope, we just enjoy one another’s company for being everything that we are as a person. Good times and bad times come and it is the friend that consoles you during the bad times just as much as your religious philosophy.

When I buried my father, my Jewish friends, my fathers’ Jewish friends came to the funeral and to the Catholic Mass to offer their prayers and condolences. When my Jewish friend was burying his father, I went to Temple and offered my prayers and condolences. Could you picture Ann Coulter setting foot in a Synagogue? Nope!

Chalk this one up to Ann Coulter out to sell yet another book full of extreme right wing ideology. I feel very sorry for her. While she is walking around God’s green earth with her nose so high in the air she is missing the opportunity of a lifetime to befriend people that just happen to be Jewish.

Rush Limbaugh Dictates Military Courage?

Let me just begin by saying that any person that has never served in the military of the United States of America has NO place dictating who is in service to our nation or not. I don’t care if you are a freaking whack job Congressional member or even the President of the United States of America. Let me go further and say that radio talk show host’s that never served in our military have NO room to talk about who is a soldier in service and whom is not. Especially, when they have never served in the theatre that is the Iraq, Afghanistan, War on Terror, and KBR and Haliburton balance sheet surplus.

Rush Limbaugh is a phony! He proves it more times than not by being the “Water Boy for the Republican’s”, his words, not mine. How dare he call any of our service members “Phony Troop’s”! Talk about spitting in the faces of the troops? Rush saved himself the trip to the airport or the bus terminal and just broadcast that half of our military personnel are “Phony Troop’s” on his radio program. Those would be publicly owned airwaves regulated by the FCC. I’m told that the Democrat’s in Congress are moving to pass a non binding resolution to denounce Rush Limbaugh.

Let me just offer this advice to the very ignorant Rush Limbaugh and any of his listeners that buy his words as gospel of his EIB broadcast, when the hell that is Iraq or Afghanistan is going down, there is no division among the close knit men fighting for their lives. Bullets and IED’s do not single out just Republican troops. Both side of the political aisle come home in body bags. Rush Limbaugh is a God damn hypocrite and a traitor to all of the United States Military. While your son or daughter would give up their lives to save someone in their unit Rush is calling them a coward and a phony. Screw you Rush!

His anger is frankly more relevant and on topic than any point I could ever make. I’m proud of him and many like him that served our nation and I for one would never question it. Check all the posts at the GTL on this topic. He speaks from the heart on being called a part of what Rush Limbaugh calls the “Phony Troop’s”. Screw Rush Limbaugh and anyone that thinks half the troops are phony! America has one flag and our troops in any service fight the orders they are told. By no means do they have to agree with it but they are in service to their nation. Military service is not about politics, it is about serving and obeying orders from the civilian government. They are not drones! Each man or woman in service has a mind and a right to think what they believe is wrong or right. Being in the military of our nation does not automatically make you a Republican strong base.

I guess I was one of the (obviously) crack-smoking Rush Limbaugh’s “phony Soldiers”; well — TECHNICALLY; a “phony Airman” since I was appalled by the waste of lives and money I personally saw being poured into the meatgrinder called “Iraq”, up close and PERSONAL in my capacity of being one of those “boots on the ground” in support of what was originally supposed to be our enforcement of U.N Resolution 1441; rapidly accomplished within WEEKS, I might add. Apparently, about half the other troops I served in the “sandbox” with were also “phony Soldiers”, too. Thanks for NOTHING, Rush — you hypocritical PIG. - Gun Toting Liberal

As a Democrat and a Liberal I support ALL of our troops. I do not support why they are there but I support our troops one hundred percent and then some. No political party affiliation is required when the military funeral service is happening and just a bunch of guys and gals from all over America called the Patriot Riders show up in support of the families.

Rush Limbaugh never served in the military, neither did many of the strong supporters of this war. Bill O’Reilly is just another loud mouth that never served. At the least Don Imus did serve and wore the uniform but that is another topic for another day.

In the halls of our Federal Government are many Republican’s that never wore the uniform of our military but are calling the Democrat’s cowards. Vice President Dick Cheney never served and he is one of the loudest voice among most of them. Google search it for yourself.

Many of the Democrat’s including Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry and Al Gore actually wore the uniform. Google search your favorite Republican military record and tell me what you find out? I think you will be surprised by the results.

This war is turning into Vietnam all over again and the division of the people at home has begun to come to a boiling point. Democrat’s want the troops home and Republican’s call us all out to blindly support the war. If our military is a sampling of America then they too are of the same opinion of both political thoughts on this topic. Some support it and some do not. And still they are on the front lines. Some will die, some will rotate out. The ones that rotate out are the lucky ones.

Rush Limbaugh is a piece of crap!!! I support ALL of our kids in MILITARY SERVICE to America, Rush supports just half.
