Barack Obama is the Next President

This is a day to remember and a true feel for what the American experiment is all about. Barack Obama defeated John McCain by a rather significant margin pulling down states that were formerly confirmed red state Republican strong holds. And he earned every single vote the hard way by facing his critics and simply telling the truth on who he is and who he will be as our next President of the United States of America.

Key states for Obama were PA, OH, IA, NM, MI, NH and FL which more or less sank the dream of a Presidency for Senatator John McCain. Keith Olbermann of MSNBC called it for Obama by an electoral vote tally at about 9:37 EST. Going by electoral votes at the time of the prediction it was impossible for Senator McCain to win. Thus, Barack Obama will take the oath of office for President in January of 2009.

Senator Obama won this election by taking the high road when his opponent chose the lowest road that was easiest to travel. Obama impressed the people of America not only with his eloquence but his ability to make his attackers look foolish as they used arguments against him that they too were guilty of. Senator Obama or should I say President Elect Obama, didn’t have to morph into someone that his political base and moderate or independent voters could vote for.


All that being said, it should be interesting to see how President Obama’s cabinet will be made up as pro and con from his position on many of the issues. Then it is time to get real change passed and delivered to the American people. President Obama will have to work twice as hard as anyone else that has sat behind the desk in the Oval Office simply because he promised he would do so much for so many. In that respect, political pundits and bloggers like yours truly will not be giving him a free pass because we pushed so hard for him to be President. Barack Obama earned the opportunity to be President, now he has to prove that he can get the job done.

Get to work President Elect Obama and don’t forget the little people that made this possible for you. Like all of us hard working unemployed bloggers! I’m willing to accept a good paying job in your administration or something small like Rhode Island for the calluses my typing fingers all have. Anyone have a bandaide they can spare?

McCain Dream Electoral College Results

Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for election results tonight and some of the news networks are already planning on calling the winner as early as 7:00 PM EST. I’m of the firm opinion that they should hold off declaring a winner for President to allow people west of the Mississippi river to vote. We can wait and I see no problem with waiting till 7:15 PM EST!

Getting past that, there are some reports out that McCain is winning in a landslide. I had to do some intense research to get to the bottom of this viscious rumor.The only problem with these reports is that the map results they show are from November of 2006. Dream on Senator McCain, dream on!

Election Returns Dixville Notch NH

It’s officially over for John McCain as far as Dixville Notch New Hampshire is concerned. The Republican stronghold since 1968 overwhelmingly voted for Barack Obama for President with a 71% victory margin and a 100% voter turn out. The polls were slammed with voter turn out as all 21 voters showed up to vote just after midnight. Polls stayed open late in order to handle the turnout and closed at 12:10 AM.

DIXVILLE NOTCH, New Hampshire (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama emerged victorious in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.

People in the village in New Hampshire's northeast corner voted just after midnight Tuesday.

It was the first time since 1968 that the village leaned Democratic in an election. - CNN

It’s going to be a long day for news reporters and political bloggers so keep the coffee on and your mouse at the ready. (Safety Note: Please keep a fire extinguisher close by as overheated internet sites, mouses, and lap tops may erupt in flames while searching for election results today.)

Huffington Post Declares Obama the Winner?

One could put my style of writing in the column of NOT a John McCain supporter but he does have some charm. I can picture Walter from Jeff Dunham fame, and John McCain both as elderly cranky, pissed off greeters at WalMart. Walter would be telling you to get your sh!t and get out and McCain would be manipulating the automatic doors with his garage door opener to slam them shut on slow walkers. Oh, and the banner from above is from the home page of the McCain campaign website? Espanol? Espanol and Republican is an election year oxymoron!

I’m not a huge fan of the Huffington Post but I am slowly becoming aware of some amazing writers on the site. Seth Grahame-Smith has an amazing piece on the outcome of the current Presidential election and I tend to see his point in some respects.

Were the great Tim Russert still with us, he would call the election for Obama at 7pm Eastern time. No, I'm not talking about November 4th -- I mean tonight.

As a moderate voter that has in the past voted for Ronald Reagan for President, twice, and Mitt Romney as Governor my vote is not in the can for any political party. Sometimes our local, state, and federal governments need a kick in the back side to wake up. Reagan was by far not a perfect President but he was the first to step up to the plate to say that American’s should never be ashamed to be American’s and that touched my heart politically in a time when we were a pox on the world. Our military was a mess, our economy in the toilet and his efforts to end the cold war and bust the Soviet bank worked. Call him a monster for all of his other mistakes but we are no longer training our kids to hide under their school desks so to speak.

As for voting for Mitt Romney, when you live in a tax you to death state like Massachusetts where one party controls all the spending then there is no such thing as a bad tax. The legislators pass them and we the people pay them. Mitt Romney was a force to reckon with when it came to new taxes and held his promise to the state’s voters. In that respect, I would have voted for him again as a Democrat. Not all Democrats are tax and spend voters just as not all Republican voters are conservative. That would be an alleged definition that the press and political campaigns pretend to define with a wink and a nudge in the papers and on the television.

Personally, I don’t think this race is over till November but then again I am a political junkie with a huge monkey on his back. Even if Obama has $500 Million in his war chest, one very serious debilitating mistake can toss an election even when the odds are overwhelming to begin with.

Chris Matthews to Hillary “Pack it up!”

Using Real Clear Politics delegate count page it isn’t hard to see where the numbers will end up in the Democrat Primary race. Hillary Clinton would have to beat Barack Obama 66% to 34% in every race from here to the end. In my figures I’m using all possible delegates including super delegates.

Chris Matthews has the opinion that this race is over for Hillary Clinton and the media is spinning it just to keep the action going. I’d have to agree with him that a 32 point trouncing in every race left against Obama is not going to happen.



Then again Obama could really screw up? Nope, that isn’t going to happen either.

The panel was skewed with two many single sided thoughts and they all played to their candidates opinion. Obama Really Wins Nevada

Popular vote aside, Obama won Nevada by one delegate to the Democrat convention. Popular vote aside, the message of Obama and hope lives on in Nevada. Hillary will get all the headlines but the truth of the matter is that the real decision of the voters is based on the delegates to the convention so Hillary Clinton’s win is not really a win. Somebody call Bill Clinton and tell him that he is about to get slapped upside the head again by the wife.

The Tsunami wave of Obama is coming to fruition all across America and it can not be stopped. His message is clear and his points are not about looking at the past but at the future of America and the outlying folks in Nevada voted for a new future in our nation. That future is full of hope and of brighter days to come that are not filled with isolationist ideology and war mongering. Out in suburbs of the big cities of Nevada they saw the difference and voted for change. Out in the suburbs is the key words there. Regular people, not millionaires, not people even making a hundred thousand dollars a year. Obama has the heart beat of the people at the bottom of the economy that always look to hope and that is someone running for President that believes that we can be saved from the plight that is corporate America’s intolerance of us. Nevada voted for hope and in that message Obama won Nevada at the convention with more delegates than Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton beat Sen. Barack Obama in the popular vote in the Nevada Democratic caucuses today, while former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney prevailed earlier in the Nevada Republican caucuses.

With 97 percent of the vote counted, Clinton led with 51 percent to 45 percent for Obama (Ill.). Former senator John Edwards trailed far behind with four percent. However, although Clinton captured the popular vote, Obama edged her out for delegates at stake, taking 13 to her 12, according to an Associated Presss analysis.

"I guess this is how the West was won," Clinton told cheering supporters in Las Vegas. The popular victory was her second straight, coming after an upset win in the New Hampshire primary.

The disparity between the raw vote total and the delegate apportionment is centered on the fact that Obama beat Clinton in the state's sparsely-populated northern reaches and more rural areas -- a statewide showing that left him with a narrow delegate victory if not a popular majority.

"We came from over 25 points behind to win more national convention delegates than Hillary Clinton because we performed well all across the state, including rural areas where Democrats have traditionally struggled," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. -Washington Post

Some people wonder if America is ready for an African American President and I wonder if we are ready for another eight years of another Clinton disgrace series of real legislation subdued by controversy from the first Clinton Presidency revisited. When the Clinton’s claim in deceptive words to be the first African American President I shudder at the disgrace that they propose on African Amrican’s. As a white man I can not see through the eyes of any African American and I can not say that racism is dead in America because it is not. Racism is born out of misunderstanding and hate passed down from generation to generation. Even in New England where the bluest of blue states are it is ignorance rather than knowledge that prevails. If you were blind and listened to the messages of all of the candidates not knowing if one is Black or the other is a Woman you would see the true difference.

A good friend of mine is slowly going blind, my heart felt prayers are with him and his family every single night. I beg God above that he would have his vision back because he is not of the opinion that America should be divided racially but united simply as Americans. And yet in his heart and soul I know him as a friend that would give his vision and life if he could erase the ignorance that is race relations between all people that are the melting pot of America. His heart is genuine and his soul pure of thought.

I would give my own life to find hope in America and I am not living the life of any African American, and I am not going blind.

Vision is sometimes found in the heart and not your eyes. Hope is never in the form of a question, it is a matter of belief. That is the question you need to ask when you cast your vote in the primaries.
