Political Weakness in the Masses

Back in 2008 we had an election that changed the face of American politics by not just voting in a Democrat President but an African American President for the first time in our nations history. It is part of the dream of Martin Luther King, Lyndon Johnson, Robert Kennedy, Teddy Kennedy, and his brother and President John F. Kennedy. And now that the vote is done, President Obama is in service to his people and he needs our voices more now than ever.

Sometimes I wonder if God were actually looking down on what is going on in America today and can truly favor this nation of so many for much longer. Jesus Christ, his only son, came to us to heal the sick, nurture the poor, and comfort those less fortunate. And when our nations leader and President proposes healthcare for all and he is lambasted as the Anti-Christ according to all right wing pundits?

I’m sure that Ann Culter would call me a Liberal fanatic, ungodly, juvenile, heathen bastard. I will simply turn the other cheek and wonder to myself where the hell she got that Adams apple? But I am not making millions of dollars off of exaggerated books to spin hype up so high that one neighbor would consider torching another’s house.

There is a difference between talking politics and simply spreading hate of your fellow Americans. It’s something I’m thankful to have learned over the last few years. You can’t love America if you don’t love American’s. We all come from all over and we just need to figure out how to deal with that. The melting pot of America is boiling and we all need to turn the heat down just a bit.

We are all still American’s to the core, the spirit, and to the end. Now more than ever the people need to speek up for what is right, just, and what you voted for.

Health Care Debate Violence

It doesn’t surprise me that this simple discussion about healthcare for all Americans has become violence prone. All sides of the debate are getting pissed, miffed, angry, and riotous and it makes no sense. Is it not fair to say that the argument on the right is being fed misinformation from organizations that just don’t want healthcare for everyone? There isn’t a Republican I know that would walk away from someone that was injured or bleeding on the street. Same goes for any Democrat, Green, or Independent that I know. Democrats are not being told the whole truth either given the White House’s recent backing off of a deal with the pharmaceutical companies that would have negotiated prescription drug pricing for people on Medicare.

I find it stupefying when you see people estimate healthcare for all Americans at one trillion dollars but leave out the fact that that is a Washington budgetary term that is in fact spread out over ten years. So the discussion should move to what can be cut in the federal budget to pay for health care for everyone? Can we cut tax subsidies for oil companies that are basically having a freebie on oil leases on public land and seas? Or can we even go so far as to cut the spending for maintaining a military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring our troops all home and hopefully in one piece?

One thing is certain, America needs to fix its health care system and it will not get fixed when everyone is yelling and screaming at one another. It certainly won’t fix itself or even remotely heal with violence breaking out at Town Hall meetings to discuss health care. It’s one thing to discuss an issue, it is entirely another when violence becomes the high point of any political reporting on what the changes of our health care system are or can be.

When you really look at America, we have a diverse culture and collection of people. We can be best of friends on Facebook or Myspace and yet not recognize one another and become violent with one another over healthcare? Does that make sense to you? In the end, if the violence wins the day and kills healthcare for all Americans, what has the political movement on the right really won? David Frum has his opinion on that…

Makes me wonder if outside influences and special interests on both sides are pushing the buttons to force matters and discussions regarding healthcare into a violent end. Otherwise, I think we can all agree that Kate Smith had it right with her inspirational rendition of God Bless America. At the end of the day, we are all still Americans and we can not and should not ever forget that.

Republican Oxymoron Revolt

We all know that military intelligence is an oxymoron. Now we can also apply the oxymoron to the Republican “Tea Baggers” who are now against tax cuts for 95% of Americans. Somehow, under the Bush Presidency tax cuts are true blood American values but under the Obama Presidency it is Fascism? Somebody clue me in? A tax cut is a tax cut. How the hell is that Fascism?

CNN reporters attended the tea parties on tax day and they were accosted for not towing the political line…



I can’t comprehend what it means to be a die hard Republican. I just can’t. If you love our nation so much, would be willing to send your sons or daughters into harms way in our military, would promote tax cuts for the last decade for everyone in big business, then why do you honestly back a political party that treats wounded veterans like crap, and now you have a problem with a tax cut for 95% of Americans?

Make no doubt about it, the Republican Party has been hijacked by the extreme right wing factions. Just as the left wing of the Democrat Party tried to hijack our political party but failed. Make no doubt about it, I don’t feel bad at all for the extreme right or left but I have comfort in knowing that the middle of the aisle will come to bare.

As for the extreme right and left of politics, screw you both! I live in the real world and so does the rest of America. We don’t need your bull anymore than we need to set fire to our homes in protest of any issue just because you can scream louder than anyone else.

What kills me is the fact that if you ask a Republican how President Obama is Fascist or Socialist, they don’t have a clear answer? So that works out to that I’m pissed because he isn’t a Repubican?

If Republican’s want a political culture war then lets do it. Let’s
talk and lets do it. Bring your best ideas to the table, oh wait, your
people in the congress already did that and your own Republican
party voted against it. They have lived up to the party of “No”
that has become the consensus for any vote in the Congress.

The point to be made is this, there is no political consensus in the
Republican Party and that is not a bad thing for America right now.

Obama Victory Explained

Many people claim that they can explain why Barack Obama won the office of 44th President and John McCain did not. I happen to believe that John McCain was not fully in control of his political campaign and that is what ultimately lost Moderate, Independent and right wing leaning Democrat voters. Controlling a political campaign is like piloting a plane and being able to take off and land with ease as if it is second nature. Almost like riding a bike so to speak, if you keep pedaling but don't steer then bad things can happen.

John McCain survived this election and for the most part so did his reputation. I think this little video explains best how John McCain survived as his right wing collapsed around him...

Then you have to look at how Barack Obama was in full control of his political campaign for President. Although the flight had some turbulence, it still had a tough landing. It wasn't that often that mixed messages were sent and together as a united crew they managed to win the vote and proclaim a safe touchdown at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in 2009.

Michelle Malkin Calls ATM Attack Fraud!

*****UPDATE***** Pittsburgh Police are reporting that Ashley Todd made up the entire attack and mutilation. My humble apologies to Michelle Malkin. - Papamoka

A young woman, a McCain campaign supporter from Texas, was attacked, robbed, and had a backwards “B” carved into her face for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was in Pittsburgh working with friends doing what most people her age do not do. Supporting her candidate for President, John McCain. She is yet another victim of campaign violence and idiot supporters thinking they can send a better message than the candidates.

WTAE TV in Pittsburgh has this on it…

PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, apparently because of her political views, Pittsburgh police said.

According to WTAE's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her and put a knife to her throat.

Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the robber took $60 from Todd, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said. - WTAE TV

Michelle Malkin, the right wing extreme blogger, is calling Ashley Todd who is a McCain supporter and the victim of an ATM robbery where the attacker carved a “B” into her face a fraud. This young woman was attacked and mutilated by this animal whoever he is and that is not right! How Michelle Malkin can come to that conclusion without actually being involved in the case is beyond belief. Does Malkin have access to the Pittsburgh Police evidence in the case?

Throughout my career, I’ve covered dozens of fake hate crimes — campus hate crime hoaxes, Muslim hate crime hoaxes, fake noose hangings, etc., etc., etc. Most were perpetrated by liberals, but there have been some shameful ones on our side of the aisle as well.

I’ve reported on the great lengths that warped attention-seekers have gone to in perpetrating fake hate crimes, including beating themselves up, carving swastikas on their dorm room doors and walls, locking themselves in bathroom stalls, and burning down their own houses.

Which is why I’m not jumping up and down with outrage over Drudge-promoted story of a McCain volunteer claiming to have been attacked by a black man whom she accused of carving a “B” in her face after spotting her McCain bumper sticker.

She refused medical treatment after reporting the incident to police. Why on earth would she do that? - Michelle Malkin

As a Democrat it offends me that Michelle Malkin, a staunch Republican, is calling this kid a fake, a fraud, and a liar. Where the hell is her compassion for the victim of a hate crime?

Politics is what it is today, young people are getting involved and I thank this young lady for being a McCain supporter a long way from her home in Texas. She didn’t deserve this attack and frankly I’m offended that Michelle Malkin, a GOP talking head is accusing Ashley Todd of fraud and deception. The kid was attacked and robbed!

Let me be clear, violence in political campaigns coming from any political supporter, extremist, or just idiots is not acceptable in America. I’m a Barack Obama supporter and this kind of violence against a young woman who supports McCain is unacceptable. No violence is acceptable as a political opinion. America is not a Soprano's sitcom where you can bully your thoughts and desires on anyone. We are a land of laws and whoever the monster was that did this to this poor young girl should be tracked down, arrested, and jailed.

Michelle Malkin owes this young lady a huge apology! Malkin is basing her thoughts on comments in her blog and not the investigation by real police officers handling this investigation and crime. Right now the only one smelling like a fraud is Michelle Malkin!

Another Republican Exits in Shame

The tote board of Republicans exiting the political field is heavy by one more and this time it’s a Rep from New York. Is it just me or is it more or less a secret that a lot of the folks in the Republican Party are leaving office in disgrace because of the “I am Caesar” mentality? I would think that if you serve in an office in our federal government that you of all people should live to a higher standard. Isn’t that what most politicians run on during any campaign?

Maybe we should all face the facts that nobody is perfect but it seems that there is a little bit more infidelity and indiscretion going on if you have a big old red R next to your name. Maybe the days of Jack Abramoff and the presumption of omnipotence in the Republican Party are over and this is just the tip of the iceberg? Fossella Decides Not to Run for Reelection

Rep. Vito J. Fossella (R-N.Y.) announced yesterday that he will not seek reelection in November, the fallout of a drunken-driving arrest in Alexandria earlier this month that revealed he has a child through a long-standing extramarital affair.

But Fossella said he will finish his term, providing welcome news to Republican leaders who had publicly encouraged his departure. The GOP lamented the prospect of a special election in that district, especially after losing three House seats in such elections since March.

"This choice was an extremely difficult one, balanced between my dedication to service to our great nation and the need to concentrate on healing the wounds that I have caused to my wife and family," Fossella wrote to his constituents.

Fossella, 43, becomes the 26th House Republican to announce an intention either to retire or to seek different office in November. Four others left the House in the middle of this Congress. - Washington Post

It makes you wonder why the Republican Party is the political party to follow if you follow a high moral lifestyle? It appears that many of the good old boy club of the federal government is more about do as I say and not as I do.

People wonder why all of the polling numbers in the primaries are not matching up with the end result of the elections and there is one simple answer to that question. Republicans are jumping ship to the political leaders not selling more of the same mentality. Somehow the Newt Gingrich contract with America was hijacked and in its place was put a contract on America. Give back to America was translated to take from America as much as you can as fast as you can before you get caught.

Decades from now the official truth will be let out on all of the mishaps and injustice during this past decade and the shame will not fall on the left side of the political isle. While politicians think that the people are just sheep, the political process and the new information age is educating the masses at a level never seen before. Eventually, the truth will surface and it is the party that supported the deception that will pay the price. Americans are fickle people like that and the chips land where they land on the side of right over political party loyalty.

Romney Pulling a Kennedy on Religion

Mitt Romney is going to give a speech at former President George H. W. Bush Library in Texas to defend, define, explain or totally confuse the Christian right wing of his Republican Party.

In the words of former Senator Lloyd Bentsen of Texas Governor Romney…”You Sir are no Jack Kennedy”.

Let me first say that if someone in America thinks your personal religious practice and belief is a reason not to vote for you then you don’t want their vote. Religious faith is what most American’s have on Sunday when they put on the very best clothes that they have and attend whatever service they practice. You smile nice to the widows and widowers and of course pat the young children on the head that look so angelic in their Sunday best. All is well in the world and God is pleased.

Come Monday morning they revert back to being the jerk boss that eyes the nineteen year old receptionist with thoughts of lust, or the cranky garage mechanic owner that will overcharge you for labor and parts that never existed. God forbid they recognize one another in the liquor store or choose not to look one another in the eye. Come Monday the services are ended and it all becomes business as usual where everyone is trying to screw everyone else.

Mitt Romney explaining his religious belief as a Mormon is a bad decision and this one will cost him New Hampshire and Iowa. Why that is what will happen is simple, none of the other candidates are explaining their religion. They do not have to and neither should Mitt. The guy was elected in the bluest of the blue states of Massachusetts as Governor because he simply had the right message at the right time. Put another way, if there were a war in Massachusetts with Republican’s fighting Democrat’s, there would be three hundred Democrat troops and one Republican. Overwhelming odd’s and yet Mitt was elected Governor. Religion had no realistic play in the voters minds. Mike Huckabee is posting advertisements with bold print “Christian Leader”? He obviously is not running from his faith!

President Kennedy needed to defend and explain his religious stance if elected because of the direct link to a religious leader in the Vatican called the Pope. In the Catholic faith you can be excommunicated for failing to follow the Pope’s decree. American voters at that time were concerned about a President possibly bound by an outside influence from a foreign land and rightfully so. That was a risk for him personally and it was something that Kennedy was willing to face to serve our people if that was what the Pope ordered on any decision he made as President of our nation. Kennedy put his faith to the side but did not give it up entirely as he simply understood the Presidency of the United States of America was not about him or his faith as an individual but it was entirely about the greater good of the nation.

That is a huge difference when compared to what Mitt Romney is going to offer and he isn’t giving this speech to defend his personal faith. He’s doing it for votes from a base that he really does not want. That is the reality of what his speech will be about and the Christian Conservative Right will see right through it.

President Kennedy was almost fifty years ago in expressing his religious belief and the concerns of the separation of church and state issue. We as a people have a much larger tolerance for religion, race and sex of our political candidates these days and Mitt Romney just does not get that. Maybe all the trips out of the state he was supposed to be Governing didn’t have a chance to let reality reach him.

Here in New England some folks call us prudes when it comes to our religion or belief in God. Screw them! If someone questioned your faith no matter where you live, how many seconds would be on that time watch before you slugged the SOB? Big Mistake Mitt… HUGE!

American’s do not elect people based on where you go to church, we elect people to the highest office on what your ideas are to make our nation better.

I’m jumping in the shower. I just realized I’m offering advice to a Republican candidate for President. I feel dirty for some odd reason.

Ann Coulter Anti Jewish Equals Anti Christian

Ann Coulter must be out to sell yet another book given her latest comments. Some people might say that her answer to the baited question that she was given was an off handed remark. I tend to think that if it came out of her mouth then it lives inside of her somewhere that she thinks Jewish people need to be “perfected”.

What surprises me is that people actually buy her books. She comes out with these idiotic kind of statements all the time and yet she still manages to stay on top of the conservative go to list for all of the networks. Maybe the networks need to take a step back and look at the big picture and find someone else to talk to when it comes to conservative or republican issues. NEW YORK -- Jewish leaders condemned conservative commentator Ann Coulter on Friday for her comments this week that Jews need to be "perfected," denouncing her remarks as the rationale behind two millenniums of anti-Semitism.

The assertion by the controversial pundit that Jews are inferior unless they convert to Christianity alarmed Jewish organizations and put the television networks that give Coulter a platform in an awkward position.

Coulter, a frequent guest on cable outlets such as MSNBC and Fox News, has also made appearances this year on the network morning shows "Today" and "Good Morning America" to promote her books. According to a compilation by Media Matters for America, a liberal watchdog group, she's been interviewed on national television almost every day this month.

The National Jewish Democratic Council this week called on the media to withhold future invitations to Coulter, whose inflammatory comments the group said "often border on hate speech."

Coulter could not be reached for comment.

As of Friday afternoon, none of the network news divisions or cable channels said they would keep her off the air. But they moved to distance themselves from the right-wing author, even as they defended her right to free speech. – LA Times

Several of my friends happen to be Jewish and never in my Christian life have I ever looked at them and thought they needed to be “perfected”. Nope, we just enjoy one another’s company for being everything that we are as a person. Good times and bad times come and it is the friend that consoles you during the bad times just as much as your religious philosophy.

When I buried my father, my Jewish friends, my fathers’ Jewish friends came to the funeral and to the Catholic Mass to offer their prayers and condolences. When my Jewish friend was burying his father, I went to Temple and offered my prayers and condolences. Could you picture Ann Coulter setting foot in a Synagogue? Nope!

Chalk this one up to Ann Coulter out to sell yet another book full of extreme right wing ideology. I feel very sorry for her. While she is walking around God’s green earth with her nose so high in the air she is missing the opportunity of a lifetime to befriend people that just happen to be Jewish.
