Latest on DSS Hack Patrol

When you lose your 2600 square foot home and have to move into a three decker apartment at say 1300 square feet here in Worcester it is kind of hard to find space for all of your stuff. Especially, when some of that stuff is from your near breakup of your marriage where you then combined a bachelor pad into the existing home too!

DSS Social Worker Advice, store it somewhere! That would be all well and good but I lost my job and unemployment isn’t my old paycheck so to speak. She then suggested a yard sale for our “Clutter”. Would that clutter include my fathers burial flag from his service to America in WWII and Korea? His war medals including a Purple Heart stored in a box that we just don’t have any closet space left over for? Don’t quote me on that one but when Dad died I gave many of the things he cherished to my brothers in Florida but some of his house is here too.

I’ve contacted and ACLU lawyer and I will be following their advice. I didn’t know that I could refuse DSS entry into my home without a court order or warrant? DSS would have to prove neglect before a judge, a one sided argument I’m sure but nothing they have shown us to date is neglect so what do we have to loose? Granted, we have nothing to hide. There was no abuse of any of our children and there never will be. DSS has not proven any guilt and I’m not about to let them walk over me or my family. Then we have the news that we just might have a case against DSS for defamation! I need to contact another lawyer for that case and that is on my high priority list of things to do. First on our agenda though is to attend the burial of my children's Grampy from their mothers side of the family. The girls are kind of upset about that. DSS takes a back seat for the momment.

On the flip side of the coin, DSS has some pretty big mistakes to explain while they are terrorizing innocent parents. Check these pages for those results in the coming days.

My humble apologies to DSS workers that are not hacks but policing yourself is the first priority of any organization and being a public paid for department you face a greater need to weed out the people not living up to your profession. We sleep with a clear consience, I wonder how many people at DSS are looking for a kill count even if it isn't justified?

DSS Hacks not Doing Their Jobs!

Just for giggles I was over at the DSS site for Mass and I found the link to how they can take your children away from you if you are accused of neglect. Child abuse is not something to look the other way at and I for one support protecting children first. Kids need to grow up in a safe environment and most parents provide that home to their children.

What about the abuse of the system when DSS looks the other way simply because they have other case with less stringent accusations to investigate? What about the kids that just didn’t seem important enough to the DSS investigator to go the extra mile to find the child and parents till it was too late?

This case from July of 2007 shows the negligence of DSS in Mass and how they dropped the ball and the child paid the price for their mistake. Boston.com has this on Bryan James and his abuse of children that I covered here back in the day as well…

NEW BEDFORD -- As doctors continued caring for a mutilated 3-year-old, allegedly bitten and battered by her mother's live-in boyfriend, Department of Social Services officials said yesterday that social workers investigating early-warning signs of suspected abuse said she was never home when they visited so they did not complete their inquiry.

As a result, the girl was left to live four more months with the couple, a man who had been convicted on assault and biting charges, and her mother, who prosecutors say was willing to cover for him.

The girl first came to the attention of DSS officials in January, after suffering a broken tooth and bruising that a physician called suspected abuse. DSS officials said they were unable to find and interview the girl, delaying any legal action on their part. New Bedford police, meanwhile, dropped their investigation after accepting explanations for the injuries given by Jessica Silveira, 26, the girl's mother.
- Boston.com

Was there a parent that was not packing the proper snacks for their child’s school lunch that warranted it being investigated? Maybe a parent that was late for a school pick up was being investigated? Or it could have been that the family bread winner lost his job and the insurance could no longer provide for medical coverage? Medical coverage is mandated by the state of Mass and if you don’t have it, you are doubly screwed and DSS can file neglect charges because of the lack of medical coverage.

The land of the free has been replaced by the Soviet Union of bureaucrats in the ultimate model of the perfect peoples collective. That state would be alive and well in the local DSS office where they feel free to run the KGB on families with no distinction of innocence on the accused parents.

What happened that they didn’t have enough time to look at real abuse in the case of the animal known as Bryan James?

When DSS starts acting like a real family protection agency that actually protects children then I will gladly give them credit for a job well done. When it comes to children, there is no Ooops! We missed this one even though we had an open case on it is not a reasonable excuse.

Domestic Violence with a Badge

Let me just say this, my wife would kick my sorry ass if I ever raised a hand to her. My five daughters would probably join in on kicking my sorry ass if I hit their mother and Mom called for an Iron cage death match.

Domestic violence knows no boundaries or occupations and no race, creed, color or sexual orientation is without it. Tempers are what they are and sometimes the job comes home with you and sometimes some people can not check it at the door. Domestic violence is a serious problem in America and the flood gates of what is really happening in our nation is not talked about enough. It’s a fact that the majority of the abuse on spouses and children goes unreported. More times than not the violence is silent or quieted behind the four walls of a families home. The perpetrator and abusive family member is looked at from the family in a submissive mode and that the victim probably did something wrong to deserve a beating. That thought process is hard to comprehend but it happens every single day in America.

There was this story in the Boston Herald that I found and it points out several Boston Police officers that have had serious domestic violence complaints lodged against them and still hold the badge.

Critics: BPD soft on abuse
Boston cops punished in domestic cases, but kept their jobs

By O’Ryan Johnson
Friday, January 11, 2008

Despite talking tough on domestic violence, the Boston Police Department did not fire any of the 11 officers disciplined in the past two years for punching their spouses, striking their children and other violent incidents, a Herald review shows.

The punishments handed down by Police Department brass in those cases include two five-day suspensions, three 30-day suspensions and one 40-day suspension. Of the remaining officers who were investigated, two retired, two resigned and one has a criminal case pending.

“It’s outrageous,” Mary Lauby, executive director of Jane Doe Inc., said of the department’s lack of a zero-tolerance policy against battering cops.

Snip and Cuff em Dan O’

Police Commissioner Edward Davis, who has been on the job for a little over a year, said a tougher policy has been in place since June 2006 that specifies officers can be fired for domestic violence complaints even if they aren’t found guilty in court.

Davis said only one officer has been punished under the new rules, Lt. Dave Murphy, who received a five-day suspension for allegedly punching his girlfriend off a bar stool in Baltimore. In that case, the victim did not cooperate with the department, Davis said.

But Lauby of Jane Doe didn’t buy that as a valid defense of the department’s policy.

“This entire reliance on victims in order to prosecute, it’s a sham,” she said. “We all know that there is a substantial amount of domestic violence that never reaches anyone’s attention.”
- Boston Herald

Violence in the home is and should not be tolerated by any wife, Mother, or child. Violence against family members is much like starting down the road of beginner drugs or alcohol. For that matter some people think that domestic violence is just as bad as addiction to drugs or alcohol. One step at a time it can ramp up till the walls all come crumbling down. In the worst possible scenario a spouse or child is dead at the hands of a family member.

The Herald piece pasted all Boston Police Officers in the same mold and that is not true reporting. It does however point out that the rules for all law enforcement officers needs to be a higher standard than the general public rules and laws. As in most professions in America there are idiots and scum bags. Boston’s Police Department is no different. Not all cops are wife beaters and not all cops are abusive to their children.

I don’t think there is a police officer in Boston that thinks the idiot highlighted in the Herald’s piece is nothing but a scum bag. With his disgraceful behavior in his private life it reflects back on all of the Boston Police whether they all like it or not. Then again the Herald goes out of its way to attack all public servants in Boston.

Real men, real woman do not need to hit or abuse anyone if you just open your mouth and logically vent. Violence against the family members that love you even if you have hit them in the past is not the answer. Asking them what you should do in your life is the answer. If that does not help then get some serious mental health consultation. One punch to the ones you love will damage not only your life but the ones you love forever. Seek help and advice everywhere you can and save not just your conscience but the horrible result of a family bound by violence.

My personal advice to the battered woman that are married to an abusive husband, get out and do it NOW! The life you save may be your own. No woman should tolerate even one moment of abuse. This is not 1808, this is 2008. Ending the cycle of violence from the victims point is far better than staying and letting your children learn that it is okay to beat their mother. Life long lessons are funny that way.

Child Abuse in Mass Continued

This story in the Boston Globe sounded like a trumpet sounding out the call to go to arms and fight the dragon that is the Department of Social Services. That is not the case by any means. This is an extreme case of child abuse and I don’t think anyone will argue with me over that point. DSS when notified does what it has to do to protect the kids.

You actually have to read the entire piece over at the Boston Globe to not fully condemn DSS.

Doctor says DSS sought to send bitten girl home
No bail for pair accused in abuse

By John R. Ellement, Globe Staff
July 12, 2007

NEW BEDFORD -- A Boston doctor who examined a 3-year-old girl whose upper lip was bitten off said yesterday that hospital staffers had to persuade the Department of Social Services not to send the child home, where her mother had allegedly failed to stop months of physical abuse by her boyfriend.

Five days after the girl was brought to Children's Hospital Boston with black scabs on her mutilated face, DSS proposed sending her home, according to testimony by Dr. Alice Newton during the couple's dangerousness hearing in New Bedford District Court yesterday.
The injuries were so severe, Newton testified, that the girl will never fully recover.

The DSS proposed on April 30 to return the child to her home four months after she first came to the attention of the agency's officials in January, when she was seen at a New Bedford hospital for treatment of a broken tooth and bruises that a physician there called suspicious.

DSS officials said last week that they did not take action in the case in the months following the January hospital visit because they did not find the girl at home on several occasions.

“Snip-a-roo”

In a telephone interview yesterday, DSS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro called the disagreement over the child's release a miscommunication that was quickly cleared up by a conference call that hospital staff requested with DSS. DSS officials had not authorized a plan to send the child home, she said.

Doctors, she said "thought the [DSS] worker was going to pick up the kid and take the kid home, and that was not what was going on," Monteiro said. "That was not the plan. There was no plan to take the child anywhere."

DSS ultimately went into court and, on May 3, obtained legal custody of the girl and her 5-year-old brother. The boy has not shown signs of physical abuse, officials said.
– Boston Globe

You really have to keep an open mind when it comes to the modern DSS intervention. When abuse at this level occurs then they will take children from the home and with good cause. I can’t say that I am a big fan of DSS but I am a supporter of what they do for the children abused beyond recognition as the child was in this case.

It is pretty obvious to me that the mother in this scenario was no Mother Theresa or even a reflection of her. This mom was just a womb vehicle with a growing cellular structure that just happened to come through the birth canal and after that point something else was on the television that was more important to pay attention too.

How she choose the boyfriend over the child is beyond my thought comprehension but then again I have five baby girls that I love to no end. Put a speeding out of control bus in their way and I would die trying to get them out of its path. That is just me though.

Was this mom to busy contemplating her navel while her baby girl’s lip was being bitten off? Where were her motherly instincts while the boyfriend was attacking this child like an animal? What kind of person would ever allow that to happen even once?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a die hard liberal, but when it comes to kids and someone abusing them like these two people did, I have no mercy in my soul for them. While one person bit this little girls lip off the other pretended it never happened.

Meanwhile, there is a little girl out there disfigured for life. She is safe now thanks to DSS, and I for one applaud the actions they took. As for Bryan James, the animal that bit this little girls lip off, making him a gelding is not even close to what I would like to do that monster!

Extreme Child Abuse in Mass

I can not picture in my mind the horror of the child in this Boston Herald story. Put yourself in the mind of this child that is having her mind and body brutally abused by not her father but a boyfriend of her own mother. Then her mother does not report the abuse immediately on her own baby girl? That fact in the mind of this child must have screamed at the darkest part of the human psyche. Multiply it by one hundred in the mind of a child at the hands of an abusive monster that is her mothers boyfriend. Where was this child’s safe place during a time in her life that I am sure was a non stop abuse by this animal? Abuse does not go from zero to sixty to biting a child’s face off. That fact alone makes me wonder if their was a history in this case that the mother did not report as well?

This monster treated this child with such a disgusting act of aggression by biting off her entire upper lip that it was purely animal instinct by him. There is no reason on this earth that would justify such an act by an adult man against a child or any other human being. As an animal that he is I have no problem putting him down like they do dogs that harm people with the same aggressive behavior.

Doctor says bitten 3-year old essentially missing her top lip
By Associated Press
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - Updated: 06:36 PM EST

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - A 3-year-old girl who was allegedly repeatedly bitten by her mother’s boyfriend is permanently disfigured and may have hearing loss, a doctor testified Wednesday.

Dr. Alice Newton, the medical director of the child protection team at Children’s Hospital in Boston, contacted child welfare officials after she examined the girl in May and found bite wounds. She said plastic surgery won’t be enough to make the girl’s lip look normal.

"She is essentially missing her top lip," Newton said during a dangerousness hearing Wednesday in New Bedford District Court. "I’ve never seen a child who is missing her upper lip.
- Boston Herald

Vigilante justice is not the way to go but I think people need to know that scumbags like this animal are out there. Your neighbors kids may be at the hands of animals like this and I find it very hard to believe that friends and family never saw the fear in this child’s eyes around this man.

Would you rather drop a dime to the local social services agency to investigate suspected abuse or attend the funeral of a young baby at the hands of an animal like this creep? I would hope that people choose the former and drop a dime.

I can only pray for this child going forward as her life will be marked forever with the loss of her upper lip. Surgery is in this child’s future and hopefully the pain in her eyes and heart will fade over time. Her memory may fade but the abuse will never be forgotten in her mind.

Bryan James should get a life sentence, no other punishment is acceptable in my mind.

Invasion of Families by the State

This is a personal issue that I think should be played out here. My girls are my world and my family is my world but when you insert one child with a serious mental health issue into the equation and ask the state for help it can turn your life up side down. Anything your child says is a weapon for the state social services to use against you and you are guilty till proven innocent no matter what you do. That is the case in our lives today.

Would you see a problem with a sixteen year old that is reasonably stable watching her little sisters for an hour or so till Mom gets home from work? Apparently, the Department of Mental Health in Mass A Two Sticks has a problem with that. They filed parental neglect charges along with more idiotic accusations from the mouth of just on child. Missing one phsyc appointment is neglect too! Not accepting as realistic as a parent of that child stating two days later that she took enough of her mental health medication that could have killed a cow is serious neglect because you did not take her to the Emergency room two days after the fact is a viable charge. The laundry list goes on. I apparently pick up a six pack and drink and drive with my four little ones in the car. NOT! This is what society has become when the state has a voice in raising the child. She can state any fact and we are guilty. We are dirty and we are criminals in the eyes of the state till proven innocent accordigng to the words from a child on more mind altering drugs than Timmothy Leary would have ever dreamed about being available.

A good friend of mine slapped me upside the head the other day and told me to get a lawyer. My wife and I don't really need one because we have done nothing wrong. We are lucky that we have nothing to hide. Having a child that is diagnosed Bi-Polar is a rough road to travel and it comes with some serious dilemas if you ask the state for help. From that point on they own you and you live under a microscope as parents. Any accusation from the troubled child triggers by law an investigation by other state services and you are guilty till proven innocent. Yup, toss out the Constitution and insert social services rules and state regulations.

There is no abuse of any kind here in this case, and yet I fully back social services in cases where children are truly abused. They don't make enough money in my opinion for the job that they have to do. Given our situation, if the sixteen year old does not like the decicions of her parents then she can say what ever she wants to make our lives hell. We get investigated because we refuse to allow a sixteen year old to date someone that is twenty three? That is how the system works if your kid is part of DMH in Mass! Tantrums gone extreme with teeth.

I do have a problem with them telling me that they will be in our lives for the next three months and visiting every single week till the investigation ends. Last time I checked this wasn't France and you are in prison till you pay the fine. This is what Mass A Two Sticks is like if you dare to beg the Department of Mental Health for help with a troubled teen. The troubled teen becomes the overlord of the family and you are the prisoner of the system forever. No matter how good of a parent you are they make you feel dirty and wondering what you ever did wrong. Guilty till proven innocent is all that it is.

I've pondered this for a while and I am fighting back fire with fire. If the state wants to come after me based on the laws of the land then those same laws work for me as well. I'm not going to let the railroad of state agencies rule my life or my other childrens lives. I have to fight for my family and if the one is lost to the state agencies and the laws they have to live by then so be it. There are still four sister in the family that are my daughters that need a voice of reason from a father that has done his best to date.

If you find yourself in this same situation and you have nothing to hide then I seriously beg you to contact your state representative or anyone that will listen in your state government. Do not let them tell you that you have no rights. Nobody can suspend the Constitution of our country and that is a fact.

Fight for what is right and you will never be wrong. Fight for your kids and you are a true parent. Even if one is over the edge you have to take a stand.

I'm planting my feet square and solid and I have contacted my State Representative and the Governors office. I will not be railroaded by them. Not going to happen in this lifetime!

Round one: State Representative is in our corner
