Deval Patrick Blizzard 2013

The picture to your left is people stranded in their cars in New York.  For how long, I can not tell you.  They didn't issue an order to stay off the roads in New York during the February 8th and 9th blizzard.

You have to give credit to Governor Deval Patrick for being smart and shutting down all vehicle traffic in Massachusetts as the February 2013 blizzard was about to hit.  Back in 1978 thousands of people were trapped in cars on highways and streets all across the state.  I remember that storm all to well because my Aunt Kitty O'Keefe, that I loved very much, was one of those folks that was stranded.  She hoofed it back through the snow from Route 9 in Southboro to her work place at Commonwealth Gas.  It was her birthday and we had cake waiting for her at home.  We didn't get to have cake till she got home.  Aunt Kitty spent the better part of that week hunkered down at work in her payroll office.  We forgot about the cake and worried about her for days.

From all reports that I have heard the number of stranded people because they were idiots was at a minimum in Massachusetts because Governor Patrick was well learned of the blizzard of 78.  Smart move Governor.  Really smart move.

Thank you Governor for shutting the state down and keeping our family and friends safe. You rock dude.

John Kerry Senate Seat Replacement

Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts will be the next Secretary of State replacing Hillary Clinton.  His nomination by President Obama was just a formality.  Even John McCain is calling him "Mr. Secretary" in person.  Now the question becomes who will replace the elder statesman from Massachusetts in the US Senate?  Get rid of the hack statewide politicians that want to be the person filling the Senate chair and go with guts and a brainiac.  Someone that can speak loud and clear and get people to agree that the facts never lie.

If you know the state of politics and the mishmash of getting elected then the best choice is Dr. Rachel Maddow who happens to reside in western Massachusetts.  I can honestly think of not one soul worthy or bright enough to replace John Kerry in the US Senate.  She speaks from the gut and speaks facts from the gut because her mind is all about facts.  Her personal agenda is all about getting to the truth and putting it out there and screaming it to all that would listen.  What better person would you want for your representative in the US Senate?

Would she give up the nightly news show for a US Senate seat is another question to ask?  Against Scott Brown, she would wipe the floor with him in any debates and at the ballot box.  She is the only person I see that could be a force for true change in the Senate and in all of our nations lives for the better.

Dr. Rachel Maddow for US Senate!!!!  I'm up for that.  Sorry to toss you under the bus Rachel but your state and your country need you.  Do the right thing.  RUN for the US Senate.

Ted Kennedy and Massachusetts

Video Link

Here in the Bay State aka Massachusetts there has been one hell of a GOP stink over Governor Deval Patrick filling Teddy Kennedy’s Senate seat. Most of it a joke in a state that boasts on being one of the bluest of blue states and the home of the Liberal Lion, Ted Kennedy. Being a Republican in Massachusetts is a rarity in government but not unheard of when you consider we elected Bill Weld to the Governor’s office twice, and Mitt Romney to the launching pad for his presidential campaign as a one term Governor. Where’s Waldo replaced on Beacon Hill with where the hell is Mitt?

Life in politics here is simple and the differences between a Massachusetts Republican and say for instance a Wyoming Republican are night and day. And in that difference is the strong belief that our state must have a torch bearer for Ted Kennedy’s seat in our nations capitol. Over at the Boston Herald they have a somewhat forever right leaning spin on Paul Kirk’s appointment by Governor Patrick…

By Laura Crimaldi

Sen. Paul G. Kirk Jr., D-Mass., was sworn in as the state’s interim senator this afternoon by Vice President Joe Biden in Washington D.C., after a Suffolk Superior Court judge in Boston denied an emergency request by state Republicans to stop Gov. Deval Patrick from appointing a U.S. Senate replacement for the late Edward M. Kennedy.

The four-page ruling by Judge Thomas E. Connolly cleared for Kirk’s formal swearing in. Kirk is due to serve until a new senator is picked to serve out the rest of Kennedy’s term in a special election Jan. 19.

In his decision, Connolly also allowed a motion from the state’s lawyers to dismiss the GOP lawsuit against Patrick.
- Boston Herald

Paul Kirk will continue the life long mission of Senator Kennedy till January of next year when a special election will select his permanent successor. I have no doubts about that at all. Governor Patrick could have picked the Pope to replace Kennedy and that still would have suffered a GOP law suit. Vickie Kennedy and Edward Kennedy Jr. would not have endorsed the Governors choice if Senator Kirk was not willing to walk in his close friends footsteps. In selecting Paul Kirk, Governor Patrick restored the spirit of our Liberal Lion back to Massachusetts.

Winter in the Bay State

It's winter in Massachusetts and the gentle breezes blow,
Thirty freaking miles an hour at twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Massachusetts when the snow's up to your butt,
You take a breath of winter and your nose gets frozen shut!!
Yes, the weather here is wonderful so I guess I'll hang around,
I could never leave Massachusetts because I'm frozen to the ground!

Then we have this little thought…

COLD IS A RELATIVE THING. . . . . . .

Floridians turn on the heat.
People in Massachusetts plant gardens.

People in Massachusetts sunbathe.

People in Massachusetts have the last cookout before it gets cold.

20 above zero:
People in Miami all die.
People in Massachusetts close the windows.

People in Massachusetts get out their winter coats.

Latest on DSS Hack Patrol

When you lose your 2600 square foot home and have to move into a three decker apartment at say 1300 square feet here in Worcester it is kind of hard to find space for all of your stuff. Especially, when some of that stuff is from your near breakup of your marriage where you then combined a bachelor pad into the existing home too!

DSS Social Worker Advice, store it somewhere! That would be all well and good but I lost my job and unemployment isn’t my old paycheck so to speak. She then suggested a yard sale for our “Clutter”. Would that clutter include my fathers burial flag from his service to America in WWII and Korea? His war medals including a Purple Heart stored in a box that we just don’t have any closet space left over for? Don’t quote me on that one but when Dad died I gave many of the things he cherished to my brothers in Florida but some of his house is here too.

I’ve contacted and ACLU lawyer and I will be following their advice. I didn’t know that I could refuse DSS entry into my home without a court order or warrant? DSS would have to prove neglect before a judge, a one sided argument I’m sure but nothing they have shown us to date is neglect so what do we have to loose? Granted, we have nothing to hide. There was no abuse of any of our children and there never will be. DSS has not proven any guilt and I’m not about to let them walk over me or my family. Then we have the news that we just might have a case against DSS for defamation! I need to contact another lawyer for that case and that is on my high priority list of things to do. First on our agenda though is to attend the burial of my children's Grampy from their mothers side of the family. The girls are kind of upset about that. DSS takes a back seat for the momment.

On the flip side of the coin, DSS has some pretty big mistakes to explain while they are terrorizing innocent parents. Check these pages for those results in the coming days.

My humble apologies to DSS workers that are not hacks but policing yourself is the first priority of any organization and being a public paid for department you face a greater need to weed out the people not living up to your profession. We sleep with a clear consience, I wonder how many people at DSS are looking for a kill count even if it isn't justified?

Teddy Kennedy and Liberal Ideology

Picture courtesy of Stephan Savoia / AP
With the sad news that Senator Teddy Kennedy is ill, I offer my personal prayers to him, his wife, and his children. I personally don’t know what he will have to go through but I’m sure he will get the best care available. After all he is in and from the so called Mecca of medical science research state. Something he was instrumental in helping to create in the Bay State.

If there is a human medical condition that needed treatment then it was his liberal ideology that worked the government channels over the decades to get the groundwork started in research and eventual treatment. While others were working on bridges to nowhere he was working on the highways of advanced medical science projects here in Massachusetts. Something he spent a lifetime in public service for not just America but the world.

Over at MSNBC they have this on the Senators condition…

NBC News and news services
updated 4:27 p.m. ET, Tues., May. 20, 2008

BOSTON - A cancerous brain tumor caused the seizure Sen. Edward M. Kennedy suffered over the weekend, doctors said Tuesday in a grim diagnosis for one of American politics' most enduring figures.

The Massachusetts Democrat has a malignant glioma in the left parietal-lobe, according to doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital, where Kennedy, 76, has been undergoing tests since Saturday after having a seizure at his Cape Cod home.

The usual course of treatment includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy, but Kennedy's treatment will be decided after more tests.
- MSNBC

If you have been getting all your news on the Senators condition from television then hold that thought for a second and read on. Senator Kennedy is not dead! He isn’t in a coma or incoherent and out of touch with his faculties. Yes, he has a brain tumor but he’s probably had it for some time now and has been functioning pretty damn well for a 76 year old man. I give his beautiful wife Victoria the credit for his amazing health up to this point and she deserves a ton of credit for that. Behind every great man is a greater woman telling him to knock off the bad boy behavior. To his credit he listened to her. Love is grand like that and with her help he has accomplished so much more than he could have without her.

While I understand that the Senator is sick the fact remains that he is not dead! He has cancer and that is not a death sentence as much as it was even ten years ago. Yes he will have to slow down his schedule but he should have done that ten years ago. Kennedy’s, you can’t talk to them at any age to ever slow down and I’m sure Victoria has been telling him that fact for years and that he can’t be everywhere for everyone all the time. Have you ever known a Kennedy to not be there for anyone?

Back years ago Senator Kennedy helped my father when he was up against a wall of Pentagon double speak. Dad was a proud Veteran of WWII and Korea, a Purple Heart Veteran, a highly decorated man that wanted to just display his medals in a case to pass on to his sons. He had lost his medals in the course of raising seven children for service to his nation. Creating future taxpayers for his nation post war was a challenge and if you know how large families are, stuff just disappears. Everywhere and everyone in the military that Dad wrote to turned up with negative replies for help or no reply at all. At the insistence of his wife, my mother, he contacted Senator Kennedy and thought he would never see his medals ever again. Less than a month later Dad received a box in the mail from Senator Kennedy’s office with all of the medals and ribbons he received during all of his service time. That was the first time that I saw my father cry in front of me, the second was my mothers funeral.

My family lived on a truck driver industry paycheck and had no political influence and yet with this one simple act of kindness or desire to be a true public servant he won the hearts and minds of seven children that are now adults. Public service isn’t always about the big details, sometimes it just about touching one persons heart that wins a lifetime of support. We all feel compassion but Senator Kennedy is the Liberal Ideology of America.

Senator Kennedy will slow down during his treatment just as everyone else that has had cancer and the treatment that goes with it to survive it. Will he survive it? Only God knows that answer. Do I have hope for him? Yes I do! No matter what you see on the television about expected survival rates or prognosis on his chances I still come back to the fact that he is a Kennedy. Teddy Kennedy has never been someone afraid of any challenge in his life and this is just another hurdle to overcome. I wish him luck and prayers with this battle. By all means do not count him out of the political arena by a long shot, but do keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We all need those prayers in these difficult times.

Politically, as cold as it sounds, as Senator Kennedy must wind down the twilight of his years in the Senate and in his life, we must choose a standard bearer that will meet the gold standard example he has set in his lifetime of public service. In that thought process, look to Senator Kennedy to offer the wisdom he holds true to his heart. Who can carry the torch he held and propel his dreams, his brothers dreams, onto the next generation of Americans?

Get well Teddy, we love ya!
