Bush was an Incompetent, Over-Confident Moral Simpleton

Hello Papamoka Bloggers - They call us Bush Haters and Bush Bashers, among many other insulting things, but the truth is WE are the MAJORITY OF AMERICANS who refuse to dismiss what happened over the past eight years as simply "bad luck."

I guess it somehow makes them feel better if they call us "haters," because it casts us as unreasonable malcontents who never gave Bush a chance. The truth is harder for them to swallow. It's easier for them to say "he kept us safe" while they ask us to ignore everything else. Republicans, or at least Bush supporters, seem to enjoy pixellating the Bush presidency, thus avoiding the whole picture.

Bush's farewell address, much like his last press conference, was nothing more than a farce. His supporters agree with his assertions of success, but when you pick them apart, and look at the facts, they are just as absurd as his presidency.

Last night he pointed to three areas where he feels the most pride: education, drug benefits and veterans health. The truth is many observers feel that all three areas are considered worse off today because of his actions.

No Child Left Behind is condemned by educators who feel it is a disaster, and will fail in Congress next time. The drug benefits passed by Bush and Congressional Republicans are considered a windfall for big pharmaceutical, adding billions in cost to America's heath care system, and are doomed to be scrapped in favor or true reform under Obama and the Democrats.

His final claim of success is nothing but a lie. Bush has some of the lowest approval ratings of any president according to the majority of Veteran's rights groups. Visit Project Vote Smart if you want to see for yourself. He has been considered a roadblock to improving the lives of veterans. That claim is a boldfaced lie, and is unsupportable like all the others.

Bush claimed "moral clarity" last night as one of the hallmarks of his presidency. Perhaps he believes it, but most people don't see it that way. History is strewn with the bodies and debris that resulted from leaders who claimed moral clarity.

Despots throughout time, including Hitler, believed they had moral clarity or a moral obligation to make the tough decisions. It's the nature of the decisions that disturb most observers. Stalin, Franco, Mussolini, and Pol Pot all claimed moral clarity. Their followers, even some alive today, believe they were right, and acted in the best interest of their nation.

Stalin is still revered by conservative Russians as their country's greatest leader. They think of him as their own George Washington. Moral clarity is a smoke-screen. Only fools believe in it, and Bush is a fool to claim it.

Equally disturbing was his claim about his willingness to make the "tough decisions." Again, it's absurd. It's impossible to become president without the ability to make tough decisions. The ability itself mean nothing. It's about making the RIGHT DECISIONS! We didn't hire him to simply make decisions; we hired him to make the right decisions. Again, he is being absurd.

That brings us to his claim of "safe-guarding the economy." It is another HUGE and DISTURBING LIE.

Bush FAILED THE ECONOMY by allowing the financial markets to run wild, crash and burn. I'll admit the fool finally reacted when confronted with a disaster scenario by Paulson, but the truth is they were warned months before and did nothing. I don't care what his supporters say, he was in charge over the past eight years, and his actions caused a catastrophic failure. His administration failed to enforce regulations that could have prevented the crisis. It's simply another lie. BUSH FAILED THE ECONOMY.

Finally, last but not least, I would like to refute the most annoying claim Bush and his supporters use over and over. The one about how HE KEPT US SAFE over the past seven years. It is a joke. Without real evidence of actual thwarted attacks, and that his decisions made us safer, I believe the terrorists are simply long-term planners. It's just too vague and unsupportable.

I could just as easily argue that he made us less safe because he tortured people, setting us up for an attack in the future. There is real evidence that we are threatened more now by jihadists because of the way they handled people at Abu Graib and Guantanamo.

Extremists take years to plan their attacks, especially since it takes a long time to plan and execute large-scale terror attacks. It is reasonable to assume that an attack could occur at anytime. I do not buy their assertion he kept us safe. It is my equally valid assertion HE HAS MADE US LESS SAFE!

I also want to point out that Bush deserves scorn for allowing 9/11 to happen on his watch. Real evidence, no matter what his fool supporters say, suggests that he, his Secretary of State, and his national security team, dismissed Clinton Administration warnings, and intelligence reports, about a pending attack by civilian aircraft. THEY DID NOTHING! It's plain and simple, George Bush was the president who allowed 9/11 to happen by not doing a better job as president.

The past eight years was not simply bad luck. It was much worse. It will be remembered as the American epitome of ineptitude and incompetence. Practically everything his administration has touched has become a disaster.

From his tortuous pursuit of his war on terror, to the millions who died in Iraq in pursuit of one dictator, to the drug lords who now run Afghanistan, to the multiple wars in the Middle East under his watch, to the people who died due to his delay in helping the victims of Katrina and the loss of a great American city, to the collapse of American justice and moral leadership, to his disastrous mismanagement of the economy, the list goes on and on, and it proves that George Bush will be remembered as possibly the WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

They call us Bush Haters. I'll counter by calling them Bush Sycophants, Toadies, Serfs, or Fools. They fail to see him for the true failures he represents. They look at one issue, or one small success, and refuse to see the whole picture. Their ostrich-like deniability offends the majority of us who have suffered this idiot.

They elected an over-confident, incompetent, moral simpleton to be President of the United States. They need to learn from their mistake, and shun the Sarah Palins in favor of more well-rounded leaders. Their vote needs to be based on more than one issue. They need to be more careful next time.

Is Bush Thinking He is Harry Truman

I think I need to make it loud and clear that George Bush is not Harry Truman. Harry Truman let the buck stop at his desk. He road the waste in government as a Democrat and went after people and companies that tried screwing over the American people in the federal budget. George Bush could not pass all the bucks forward fast enough as President and he was not and will not ever be looked at as a Harry Truman President. Oil companies not excepted, George Bush has never met a military contractor as well that he didn’t like and Haliburton was his favorite son that just happened to move it’s headquarters from his own home state of Texas to Dubai in the Middle East to escape any future prosecution for war profiteering. That was convenient was it not?

President Bush is distancing himself in the closing weeks of his administration from the war on terror or should I say distancing his excuses for it. Granted, the attack on 9/11 happened but the way that it was dealt with was dead wrong. Going to war in Afghanistan was justified because that was where Osama Bin Laden based his attack from and that government justified it as righteous. Iraq however was a personal debt that George Bush owed to Sadam Hussein and his father. Sadam threatened to kill his father for the Gulf War. George Bush pulled a gang land vendetta pay back with the most powerful military in the world for personal reasons. The cost of that personal war on terror is more than all the lives lost on 9/11.

George Bush can not walk out of the office of President lily white and clean and he will more or less not even blink an eye on the pardons he is going to dole out like candy to kids attending a parade. The handfuls of pardons will go out loud and clear to his political base and they are frankly demanding them. There is not one crime committed on his behalf that will not be pardoned. Wire tapping, torture, market manipulation, and just about anything that was good for the rich and bad for the middle and lower class. His record shows how he really feels about veterans and how they are only of use to him if they are actually fighting in the field. After that, those veterans more or less have to go fend for themselves. His backing of the VA is all you need to see how hollow his defense of veterans has been.

How the folks on the right side of the political aisle think that George Bush was a Godsend to America I will never understand. Somehow, President Bush thinks he has a firm record to stand on but from my perspective I see him about to stand on the quicksand of history. And it may take three or more Democrat administrations in the office of President to fix all the damage he has done to the Constitution and common law in the United States.

Over at The Weekly Standard they have this thought on whom President Bush should pardon in his last days in office…

One last thing: Bush should consider pardoning--and should at least be vociferously praising--everyone who served in good faith in the war on terror, but whose deeds may now be susceptible to demagogic or politically inspired prosecution by some seeking to score political points. The lawyers can work out if such general or specific preemptive pardons are possible; it may be that the best Bush can or should do is to warn publicly against any such harassment or prosecution. But the idea is this: The CIA agents who waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and the NSA officials who listened in on phone calls from Pakistan, should not have to worry about legal bills or public defamation. In fact, Bush might want to give some of these public servants the Medal of Freedom at the same time he bestows the honor on Generals Petraeus and Odierno. They deserve it. - The Weekly Standard

I’m thinking that President Bush is going to chuck America the finger one last time on his last day in office with ridiculous pardons that will more or less cripple the Justice Department from investigating the actual crimes he and his Vice President committed. What was good for Bush is off limits to prosecute and the President Elect is left holding his luggage just because Bush and Cheney left him the baggage. History in tens of years from now will show us all how much corruption and manipulation has taken place under President Bush. Only then will he go down in the disgrace he rightfully deserves.

George Bush is leaving the White House with a legacy of ignorance and intolerance for all other nations in the world. He has crippled the diplomatic corps of the United States that has been built up from one President to another over decades and hundreds of years. President Elect Obama has his work cut out for him and the simplest path is to simply say that “We” are not George Bush.

Hold your head up high as an American, the political waters are going to get ugly with facts over the next decade as real reporters talk about the deception filled Bush administration. The truth always surfaces no matter how much it is held under the waters of politics and government.

Obama Administration and the Media

Is it just me or is it that all of the media is going nuts over every appointment that President elect Obama makes. He isn’t even President yet and those that fought hard for him to be elected are slamming him for his choices. Why in hell did you fight for him to be elected then? I’m thinking that the next great chapter in this nation was based in Yes We Can and then followed up by No You Can’t! It is not even funny how the bloggers have turned sideways to now look for dirt on the man that has not even taken the oath of President and it disgusts me.

Why did we back him if we did not believe in Barack Obama. If he needs Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State then he needs Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. Tell me one other person more qualified for the position? Any other person in your thoughts for the position does not have the ear of a former President of this nation. Together Obama and Clinton can heal the damage done over the last decade and maybe America can finally concentrate on our problems at home. Hillary Clinton should be the next Secretary of State, the Senate will not begrudge her this position and she will serve for the higher purpose that she is more than capable of fulfilling.

Yes we can make this nation better but we need to know that all obstacles will be put in front of the Obama Administration before he even takes office. All of the media is already in attack mode against the hope that the 44th President will begin working on as soon as his hand is removed from the holy bible. Everyone President Obama selects for any position will be under the media scope and up for all kinds of specualtion and bad mouthed even though they have not even served the next President. We can’t heal this nation if this is just another one party system and full of a one party only looking out for its own interests. We as a people need to look past the false hope that the media speculates on and believe that there is never anything wrong with hope.

I have a personal problem with attacking a politician that has not even taken an oath of office, served in the office, or even made one decision as President. Maybe the rest of the media and bloggers can get away with it but I don’t dare to travel there. As President elect Obama can pick his cabinet, pro or con, his staff, his counsel, and even his damn own pajamas. I’m sure the First Lady Elect has some opinion on that matter but get the hell out on all the other over speculation on what he is going to do! He gave you over twenty months on what he wants to tackle and the Bush administration has given him two months on the screw ups that he will have to deal with. I can picture the last day of the Bush Presidency…

President Bush, President Obama, President Obama, President Bush Crap. Would you like a doggie bag for that till you take full control of the West Wing and the White House President Obama? President Bush will not be taking this buffet home with him so feel free to toss it in the White House fridge on January 20th. The Vice President has the reheating instructions but we can’t tell you where he is do to states secrets and super duper security measures that KBR will not allow us to reveal.

Don’t blame Obama for Bush and Company lax homeland issue attention deficit disorder. Bush and Cheney screwed over America and apparently they are not done. According to my co-writer Michael Boh the $700 Billion bailout for Wall Street was the last rape of America and her taxpayers. Apparently, that blank check authored by the Bush Administration was just that, a blank check.

So do you think Obama is going to allow this go unchecked? Is President Obama not going to go after this drain on all of our nations treasury without somebody doing jail time? Ummm, he can’t! The Congress agreed to it and passed it with the stipulation that the Treasury Secretary could distribute the funds as he deemed necessary.

Maybe we should focus the attention of the media and our blog’s on what kind of garbage and last minute deals the Bush administration is going to try and pull off. Trust me, Bush will surpass by thousands the number of pardons anyone before him has signed. Do a favor, owe a favor. It is almost as if the Presidency of the last eight years was actually the Soprano’s and organized crime. Watch the pardons and you will see who actually served George W. Bush best. Even Karl Rove will be given and unconditional pardon just to cover President Bush ass.

Sometimes you have to look back to make sure that you can look forward.

New Regulations and Bush Last Days

All over the news fit to report is the fact that President Bush is going to ram through hundreds if not thousands of regulations that would tie his successor Barack Obama down to eventaully look like an ass. Bush pased it, Obama owns it and can not overturn it easily. From clean water to power generation, to toxic waste dumping to you name it and Bush and company is going for one last screw you America. Bush is going to regulate it alll and make the message that Obama won the Presidency illegitimately. With only a 28% approval rating President Bush is going to burn all the bridges that lead to the White House because he is a spoiled rotten brat. Not that we did not know that already but he needs mom to stop by more often to wipe his snivels and tears of his ludicrous lack of popularity.

You know that old story that if you don’t lie you never have to remember the lie? Well the Republican Party lied to America and in this case, they are stuck with the lie that they passed to protect President Bush from Bill Clinton in his last days as President. Damn you double edged swords! Who authorized sharpening both edges of that political blade?

Over at Politico they have this to say on last minute regulation changes by Bush and Screw You America Incorporated…

Congressional Democrats are eyeing a little-known, Clinton-era law as a way to reverse Bush administration midnight regulations — even ones that have already taken effect.

It’s a move that would undermine the White House’s attempt to finalize its energy and environmental regulations by November so that Barack Obama couldn’t undo them after he’s sworn in as the 44th president on Jan. 20.

“Fortunately, [the White House] made a mistake,” said a top Senate Democratic aide.

Last May, White House chief of staff Joshua Bolten instructed federal agency heads to make sure any new regulations were finalized by Nov. 1. The memo didn’t spell it out, but the thinking behind the directive was obvious. As Myron Ebell of the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute put it: “We’re not going to make the same mistakes the Clinton administration did.”

President Bill Clinton finalized regulations within 60 days of the 2001 inauguration, meaning Bush could come in and easily reverse them.

It could take Obama years to undo climate rules finalized more than 60 days before he takes office — the advantage the White House sought by getting them done by Nov. 1. But that strategy doesn’t account for the Congressional Review Act of 1996.

The law contains a clause determining that any regulation finalized within 60 legislative days of congressional adjournment is considered to have been legally finalized on the 15th legislative day of the new Congress, likely sometime in February. Congress then has 60 days to review it and reverse it with a joint resolution that can’t be filibustered in the Senate.

In other words, any regulation finalized in the last half-year of the Bush administration could be wiped out with a simple party-line vote in the Democrat-controlled Congress.
- Politico

Then we have this over at MSNBC that has this talking point on the issue…

Pay close attention these next few weeks and months, the election is already in the history books but the deception from the Bush administration has only just begun. President Bush is going to chuck America the finger and show all of us who is really in control and has the power. As soon as he lands in Crawford Texas law enforcement people should put him in handcuffs and put him in an orange prison jump suit. No President in the history of this nation has ever been so corrupt and in the tank for his own special interest friends. How many ways does he have to chuck us the bird and then declare himself a public servant to the people before we all get the joke?

I’m so glad that Precedent Bush and Company put out enough rope to hang themselves with because of the way he and his friends have left our nation, we really can not afford to buy the rope ourselves. Anyone have a coupon?

Bush Screwed Whoever Won the Presidency

Thankfully, the election process is over and America and all Americans can focus on the issues that we have to face. Miraculously, the spike in oil prices is disappearing with the Bush administration exit and who would of thought that possible. I did and said so at the point in time when oil hit a record price of $147 per barrel. The raping of America would end with the support of the White House and the exit of George Bush. Now is the time to get back to the basics of our economy not strangled by the price of oil and gas. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that the American economy runs on the price of oil. Any corporation that manufactures plastics has been blown out of the water by the price of oil based plastics and the materials needed to produce a product.

This nation has been held hostage by corporations and the stock market and now that they have fed the rest of us in the middle and lower classes to the dogs we have to bail out one another. Some may call President Elect Barack Obama a talking points only 44th President but he is still going to be the one in charge of getting America back on track. In that respect, he is taking advice from all corners and you have to admire that when it comes to talking about the economy. I’m not talking about Joe the Plumber that isn’t really a plumber but a country music wannabe that found a microphone and propelled himself into the McCain campaign for President as an expert on the economy. Warren Buffet, Paul Volker and the list goes on. Any voice is appreciated before January 20th when President Obama has to make a choice and act accordingly to save what the past eight years sought to destroy.

It is kind of ironic that Toyota is talking about a $5 Billion dollar profit and yet GM and Ford are begging the government for bailouts? GM and Ford are supposedly going to run out of money just before Barack Obama takes the oath of office for President? Isn’t that convenient timing when President Elect Obama has told the world that if President Bush does not work on a stimulus package then President Obama will do so as soon as he takes the oath of office. I'm wondering what GM and Ford did every single time they screwed up an lost billions of dollars in the past? Did the executives at GM and Ford not have a financial team looking at the bottom line or are they just putting their hands out for a freebie? Umm, the wolf is crying wolf afraid of little Red Riding Hood here and the accountants will be the ones going to jail for it. Set the sails, the million dollar parachutes are about to take off at GM and Ford with the exit of President Bush too! It gets better, it is all you greedy workers fault for demanding a decent living wage. You bastards should be whipped into voting Republican. How can you not see that Million $Dollar bonuses are good for the company? Fire the workers and give the executives another multi million $dollar bonus for cutting costs!

Don’t tell anyone this but I think President Bush was in the pocket for the big auto makers in Detroit too. While oil prices skyrocketed, President Bush played a deaf ear on fleet fuel and MPG. Bush pretty much gave GM and Ford a pass on CAFÉ standards. GM and Ford executives had no problem with taking tens of millions in bonuses as the mega vehicles rolled off the production lines? Did Bush lie to them too? Did he sell them out as well? Nobody sold out GM and Ford other than the top executives that thought they had the golden goose and George Bush made sure they could cash their checks.

It’s pretty obvious to me that President Bush has screwed over whoever his successor was going to be. If John McCain won the White House this would be the second bitch slap from George W. Bush. Dick Nixon had nothing on this Bush! Jerry Ford had to pardon Nixon in order to get the country back on track if you really think about it. Enough was enough, we needed to move on. I don’t think George Bush should get that same treatment after he leaves office as President.

President George W. Bush sold this country out and the people that made the Reagan and Clinton economic engine work. When it came to the price of oil there was not one single thing that he did during his entire Presidency that inhibited it from going higher. Not ONE! Not even once did he tap the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) even when we faced the worst Hurricane in during his administration and refineries were wiped out. He encouraged Detroit to go bigger and more costly at the pump, his administration ran shot gun over every single investigation as to market manipulation in the oil markets and with the help of Tom Delay and friends squashed them all. He moved our country into a war in the Middle East that manipulates the markets into scare tactic investing. Afghanistan was justified but going into Iraq was worthy of burning anyone for the sake of getting America and its economy focused on oil. Friends of Bush and company were richly rewarded and many vacated the headquarters out of the United States to escape future prosecution. How many contracts can you award to “NO BID” contractors to the Vice President that was the former CEO of the company before you smell a rat?

Getting back to the original point of this article, Barack Obama has a deck of cards in front of him that somebody just played 52 pick up with. John McCain would have had the same cards to deal with. John McCain and his political party should be happy that they do not have to deal with this crisis. The election was close when you really look at the state by state numbers. I have no clue as to how President Elect Obama is going to pull this rabbit out of his hat but he is surrounding himself with people that I have the confidence in knowing that sometimes you have to listen first before shooting your six guns.

President Bush screwed over unilaterally whoever was going to take his place. Most of all he screwed over America and Americans. That fits with how Bush served as President the last eight years. There was not one special interest group linked to Big Oil that he did not have a kind ear for. At least he was consistent. Getting past that as we should we are all left with W’s mess to clean up and pay for even though we have paid for it ten fold over the last eight years. Mission Accomplished in his mind is clean up on aisle three in our pocket books.

Bush “InteliGate” World Tour Debut

Over at the White House they are starting the process of cleansing themselves and the full administration of any evidence that they condoned any crimes. The latest news is that video tapes of severe torture cases were destroyed to protect the identities of the CIA in-terror-gators.

Today President Bush stated that he had no recollection of the tapes and their destruction. That is when you take a whiff to the air and ask yourself if you are near a cow farm full of bulls because something just does not smell right.

Over at the Washington Post they have this story on it…

Bush Does Not Recall Learning of Destroyed CIA Tapes
Senate's Second-Ranking Democrat Calls for Justice Dept. Probe

By William Branigin, Dan Eggen and Joby Warrick
Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, December 7, 2007; 3:14 PM

President Bush does not recall being informed before yesterday morning about the existence or subsequent destruction of video recordings showing harsh CIA interrogations of terrorism suspects, the White House said today.

The recordings, which CIA Director Michael V. Hayden disclosed yesterday had been made in 2002 but destroyed three years later, set off a furor on Capitol Hill today, with the Senate's second-ranking Democrat demanding a Justice Department investigation.

Snip and tuck…

The tapes were made to document any confessions the two men might make and to serve as an internal check on how the interrogations were conducted, senior intelligence officials said.

All the tapes were destroyed in November 2005 on the order of Jose A. Rodriguez Jr., then the CIA's director of clandestine operations, officials said. The destruction came after the Justice Department had told a federal judge in the case of Moussaoui that the CIA did not possess videotapes of a specific set of interrogations sought by his attorneys. A CIA spokesman said yesterday that the request would not have covered the destroyed tapes.

The tapes also were not provided to the Sept. 11 commission, which demanded a wide array of material and relied heavily on classified interrogation transcripts in piecing together its narrative of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
- Washington Post

For some odd reason all I can think of is the Valerie Plame outing where good old George claimed no knowledge of the leak from inside the White House. He did however state that the person or persons responsible would no longer be working in his administration. I’m wondering if he and Dick ever laughed so hard in their lives? Now I’m wondering if they both went on vacation after he made that statement? Maybe he was telling the truth after all!

President Nixon only had the guts to delete a few minutes of his secretive tapes, George is bulk erasing everything he can get his hands on over at the CIA in Langley. This could be a huge job so our nation must sacrifice for the sake of the Presidency. The amount of electricity needed to delete all the crimes they have committed will take sixty eight waste to energy plants, 32,328 wind turbines, Niagra Falls power generated for six months, 1.2 million roof top solar panels and four D batteries (for Dick Cheney’s flashlight). Frankly, you have to admire his green energy initiative to get this critical job done.

This at least explains the amount of times the lights dim in your home or place of business. I’d of preferred that Nancy Pelosi would have started the impeachment process rather than having my lighting resemble a strobe light.

Oil Markets out of Control

Once more the nation is facing $3 gasoline and home heating oil over speculation and what some would think is market manipulation. While the market and its volatility are soaring out of control you can almost here the cash registers ringing non stop for all of the friends of President Bush. With his lack of action on behalf of the lower classes of America he is proving the point made by thousands of political writers like yours truly that he is a puppet President.

This man that claims to be a great listener is tone deaf when it comes to the people that can least afford the greatest inflationary market driven product in the world. Oil and the price of it effects practically every product made in the United States. From your vegetables getting from the fields in California to the local supermarket in New England, to anything made with plastics. Take a break, look around you computer desk or just around your living room. The wires insulated with PVC that burn the lamps that you read or watch television by are oil based. The cabinet to your television, the keyboard of your computer and most of the parts inside of it, stereo, DVD player, surround sound speakers, the sneakers on your feet, the bottled water container that you drink because it supposed to be good for you. Just for giggles make a list, when you get over one hundred items in your living room, move to the kitchen. Take a deep breath and get ready for writers cramp. All of them are oil based products in one form or another. Everything in our society is linked to oil and the higher the price goes it seems the wider the smirk on W gets.

Along comes the favored Democrat Senator from New York that is also running for W’s office. She calls out for the tapping of our nations Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to let the markets know that the situation is out of control and releasing millions of barrels onto the open market will impact prices by negating the rumor that there is a supply problem. By the way, there is no supply problem. There is a free for all market problem where investors and Wall Street are manipulating the price of oil to make yet another killing. Line up for the firing squad because you are the one facing the bullets from W’s buddies. Just empty your checking account and insert it at the nearest gas pump and you will not be harmed. You will be damned cold this winter but frost bite never killed anyone. I may be wrong on that last fact so don’t quote me. Over at Reuters they have this to say on what the political beat is on tapping the SPR…

Clinton urges Bush to tap oil reserves
Thu Nov 8, 2007 4:11pm EST

By Tom Doggett

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton called on the Bush administration to tap into the government's emergency crude oil and heating oil reserves to boost supplies and lower prices.

"I urge the President to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and the Northeast Heating Oil Reserve to send a signal to the market and ease concerns about low crude oil stocks that are driving prices higher," Clinton said in a statement posted on Wednesday on her campaign Web site.

The price of U.S. crude oil hit a record $98.62 per barrel on Wednesday at the New York Mercantile Exchange and the average price consumers paid for home heating oil reached a record $3.11 per gallon this week, partly from concerns about tight petroleum supplies this winter.

Energy Department data also showed this week was the first time that the retail prices for heating oil, gasoline and diesel fuel all topped $3 per gallon at the same time.

The Bush administration has repeatedly said that the crude oil and heating oil reserves should only be used to offset major supply disruptions and not to manage energy prices.
- Reuters

I’m thinking this is more of the same political crap shoot that both parties play but one side is looking out for the people that will set the thermostat this winter at 62 and hope the oil tank lasts ten or eleven days longer. The other side of the aisle is shoveling cash so fast into the bank that the blizzard of 78’ in New England looked like a flurry.

President Bush will never interfere with the oil industry because that is his background and his monetary base for being elected twice. If you asked yourself what was the greatest way to increase the price of oil seven years ago it would be total unrest in the Middle East. BINGO!

Personally, I’m not a fan of Hillary Clinton but if she is the only one asking the President to release the SPR then that is one form of leadership that those of us in the middle and lower classes are glad to hear. How much more are we to do without for Exxon Mobil, Shell and Chevron to rake in another multi billion dollar quarter of profits? If it gets her some votes for doing so, then it was a smart political move on her part. If you vote your wallet then you have to think twice this election because one party will be raping it and the other will be trying to stop the crime before it happens.

Thirty years from now when the records of what this President did to this nation on behalf of his friends in big oil will be revealed and President Warren G. Harding will no longer be known as the most corrupt President ever. Insert a W plaque at the hall of shame. Right next to him will be Marie Antoinette.
