Healthcare Anti-Reform Payola

My good friend is kind enough to email me her posts on various issues that she covers in her blog and I look forward to reading her thoughts on many issues. We don’t always agree but many times we see eye to eye. If you care to get a glimpse as to where the money trail is in the Congress concerning healthcare debate then please check out Demwit for the full transcript of a very biting commentary from MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. There are no punches pulled on this emotional issue when it comes to the folks cashing the payola checks from the healthcare industry against the current legislation proposed.

This is the video link from MSNBC. I can honestly say that I have never seen such a passionate commentary in my life. Wow!

As a moderate liberal and democrat I propose a Bill O’Reilly type ban on anyone in the Congress that votes against reforming healthcare. And you would show your ban enforcement by first voting against the perpetrators of this crime against humanity, and secondly, by contributing to whomever is their opponent during the next election cycle.

You know that this legislation is scaring the hell out of the healthcare industry when they are spending an estimated $1.2 million dollars per day against it! The old saying is true, follow the smoking money and you will find the fire. That amount of money is almost as much spent per day running for the Presidency.

Thank you BJ for sending me the link to your post! All I can say is WOW!

Limbaugh Smack Down on MSNBC

One has to give Rush Limbaugh props for being a great entertainer when it comes to talking politics. In the same respect you have to think that his logic on calling MSNBC on the carpet recently an idiotic move. Rush’s latest logical thought on loan from God (His words and not mine) is that MSNBC couldn’t survive for thirty days without mentioning his name? MSNBC couldn't survive if it were not for the sweat they piggy back off of his royal high and mightyness, Rush Limbaugh. For the record, I don’t think Rush’s thought on this topic was on loan from God as it was more self preserving under the microscope of all the media in the nation. You can’t plant yourself in the chair as the one and only spokesman for the GOP and not get some media attention. It's a hot seat Rush, ya want it then it comes with some serious heat. No charge buddy. This is actually a heating bill that some of us don't really mind paying.

Keith Olbermann has a few unkind thoughts for Mr. Limbaugh and his message that MSNBC needs to only talk about Rush on a daily basis to get ratings. And I was watching Countdown all this time for all the topics that didn't include Rush Limbaugh...

I have to think about Rush Limbaugh’s request to be left alone by MSNBC. Then again, no I don't. Rush can say whatever he wants and MSNBC isn’t supposed to report it? That isn’t going to happen Rush. Sorry. Talk to Fox News and maybe they might honor your request. I understand they are a little bit more accomodating to ya over there.

Free Trade? NO! Fair Trade? YES! Fair Employee Choice? YES!

Good Morning Papamoka Readers! As usual, I have to try and correct the record created by Republican lies. The latest, and most important in my opinion, involves the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) circulating around Congress these days. If you listen to the corporate media and most Republicans, you would think it calls for the destruction of America. Trust me, I've read it, it doesn't.

Most of today's corporate/Republican liars, along with the usual smattering of souls-sold-for-the-right-price, media-hungry talking heads, are out there trying to claim the EFCA would eliminate the "secret ballot" in union authorization elections, which has been a centerpiece in a U.S. Chamber of Commerce-funded anti-union PR campaign against the legislation. As usual with that bunch, it's a LIE!

There are other versions just as disgusting, yet funnier. I especially love the one being mentioned regularly on FOX "News" on how it's unAmerican (what else), and another indication how President Obama and the Democrats are turning the US into the next Soviet Union. Wow! It's obvious just how much homework FOX "News" professionals do. It's either laziness, or they really want the legislation to fail. I wonder, which is it? My guess is they're really not journalists and are full of BS!

Ignoring today's media scum, the truth is the legislation is brief and EASY TO READ and UNDERSTAND. It simply streamlines the union certification process. The text of the act (H.R. 800, 3/2/07) reveals it contains no language about eliminating the "secret ballot" enshrined in the National Labor Relations Act under Section 9 e.

This method of union sign-up, known as "majority sign-up" or "card check," is already recognized under current labor law, but only when the employer approves it. The CHANGE THAT PISSES OFF THE REPUBLICANS is that the EFCA would allow the employees to choose their own process, not the employer. I can't imagine that ordinary Americans, whether union supporters or not, would object to such a change.

The opposition to the bill, comprised mostly of unfair-minded business interests and deceitful, bought-and-paid-for Republicans, seem unconcerned about the plight of everyday, working Americans today. The way I see it, they view most Americans as pawns, useful only as a means to their own selfish ends.

Unions should not be allowed to destroy companies, but at the same time companies should not be allowed to turn American workers into third-world slaves. Unfair, unfettered global competition should not sacrifice the American middle-class at the alter of the free market. Americans have a right to organize if they so choose.

As I always say, the Democrats in Congress need to develop a backbone. They need to grow a pair. They should not allow the Blue-Dogs and the Republicans to derail or delay this critical legislation designed to aid the American worker. Unfortunately, there still aren't enough votes in the Senate to end debate. The Republicans - and their annoyingly obstinate 60-vote strategy - could derail this critical issue, and Americans may suffer even more for the result.

The American economy would only benefit from increased domestic wages, since it provides what's needed most - DOMESTIC BUYING POWER! Please write to your representatives in Washington and encourage them to support the EFCA. Feel free to read the legislation yourself here and make up your own mind.

Bush Admin Scumbag Award Goes too…

Make no doubt about it, George Bush picked the people he loved best to serve HIS nation. He picked wise men and woman that would do HIS bidding and HIS will. So let it be written, so let it be done in HIS government. Now that W is on the way out of office, tons of skeletons are coming out of the closets over at the White House and thus we need to award a War Crimes… I mean Presidential Administration crimes award. I suggest the Scumbag. I’m planning a huge ceremony for the presentation of the Scumbag Award. You might want to tape it or DVR it, this is going to be one hell of a long presentation.

Even when it comes to Civil Rights, good old boy George W. could not help himself by appointing someone to make sure HIS will was done. Georgie boy just wanted to make sure that Civil Rights protected all them fella’s that fought in the Civil War. Those were some brave boys and he was proud of em. Over at the LA Times they have this to say about Brad Schlozman who hired and fired lawyers looking out for those veterans memories…

Bush appointee saw Justice lawyers as 'commies,' 'crazy libs,' report says
Bradley Schlozman, who supervised civil rights and voting rights lawyers, broke the law by considering political affiliations in deciding who can serve, an inspector general's report
says.

By David G. Savage
6:22 PM PST, January 13, 2009
Reporting from Washington -- To Bradley Schlozman, they were "mold spores," "commies" and "crazy libs."

He was referring to the career lawyers in the Justice Department's civil rights and voting rights divisions. From 2003 to 2006, Schlozman was a Bush appointee who supervised them. Along with several others, he came to symbolize the mid-level political appointees who brought a hard-edged ideology to the day-to-day workings of the Justice Department.

"My tentative plans are to gerrymander all of those crazy libs right out of the section," he said in an e-mail in 2003. "I too get to work with mold spores, but here in Civil Rights, we call them Voting Section attorneys," he confided to another friend.

He hoped to get rid of the "Democrats" and "liberals" because they were "disloyal" and replace them with "real Americans" and "right-thinking Americans."

He appears to have succeeded by his standards, according to an inspector general's report released Tuesday. Among the newly hired lawyers whose political or ideological views could be discerned, 63 of 65 lawyers hired under Schlozman had Republican or conservative credentials, the report said.
- LA Times

We have to give the Bradster aka KKK/Storm Trooper/SS/Administrator of the Civil Rights legal wing at the Justice Department the first Scumbag of the Bush Administration award. I’m sure he would be proud to put it up on the mantle of his home to show off to family and friends. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the design and engineering of the actual award. Apparently, the cows behind section of the trophy ignites every time its flatulence is taxed by yet another Bush appointee. We have a call into the USDA to fix this problem.

Keith Olbemann of Countdown on MSNBC has his spin on the hack job that Bradley Schlozman pulled off on President George W. Bush behalf….

You can’t make this stuff up. This is the dreams of a madman that thought he was King, and then the rest of the whacko’s followed. We all know how the economic engine in America was screwed over by Bush and Company, can you imagine what this clown did for Civil Rights? Or should I say didn’t do! Scumbag.

Olbermann Slams McCain Campaign

I happen to love a good rant and Keith Olbermann can out do me any day of the week when it comes to the issues of the past week in politics.

You have to check this video out, Olberman goes after Palin on the “Pro-America” stance. Then Minnesota’s Congresswoman Michele Bachman for requesting a McCarthy like hearings on Anti American Democrats! Then he goes after one of McCain’s spokeswoman on Virginia and the race for President that she perceives as us against them. Limbaugh made the rant on Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama where Rush thinks it is a African American sticking with another African American. Then he goes after McCain on responsibility for what his spokespeople are saying in all aspects of his campaign.

This was an amazing rant from Keith Olbermann and I think many people will agree that he isn’t far off from the truth on this one.

Richard Lewis on Olbermann

One of the things that I find remotely interesting is comedians that can use the truth to point out the obvious. And it is laughable because it is the truth in politics. Richard Lewis did a guest piece on Keith Olbermann and he hits on all the key points that make sense politically in this election for President.

This was a great guest shot and MSNBC and Countdown have it here…

Video Link

Richard Lewis is correct in assuming that all the progress made over the last forty or fifty years should not be tossed out the window in this election. This nation has come so far and we can go further. We need to defend the weak amongst us, protect the innocent, and defend the rights our parents, grand parents, and the people they elected into political office gave to all American’s.

We as a nation will need to come together more so now than ever before during this economic downturn and support one another rather than cut our neighbors down over politics. My family, your family depends on a nation that is united more than you know. This nation needs many things, across all party lines and electing a President is not a popularity contest anymore. It is about electing true leaders that will funnel common sense back to where it should be.

Our nation has lost its way, instead of defending the poorest amongst us, we reward the richest amongst us with tax cuts. There is no trickle down economics when you give corporations already making over ten billion dollars a quarter profit a tax cut. There is however a bowl of cereal and milk every morning for a little girl anywhere in America when her mom and dad get a tax cut. There is a pair of jeans or a cute dress from the local retailer that she can wear. There is a nutritional lunch that she can get at school every day that comes with an educational system that needs to be better and not just a building with kids in it.

This election matters more than you know and it can change this nations path when you vote. When you do vote, think of your kids, your check book, and your wallet. Democrats are the only people offering change in this election cycle.

It is time for people to wake up and tell the politicians that “I am done with eating cake, where’s the beef!”
