Sarah Palin RNC Speech

I do have to say that as Republican speakers go, Sarah Palin knocked it out of the park at the Republican National Convention. She was on message, at times inspiring, and of course a true right wing star. Kudo’s to her for a job well done. Over at MSNBC they have this full video of her speech...

Now for the left leaning spin on her speech but first let me ask you all if you noticed the diamond mine on Cindy McCain? It’s a diamond studded broche that I believe spells out “NAVY 2008”. I don’t think she picked that little bobble up at her local Walmart. That custom made item must have cost a lifetime salary for one of us little people. Enough of my spin. Governor Palin earned a day to shine and I’ll leave it at that.

Palin Targeted by Bloggers and the Media

Even John McCain is crying that the press and those of us in the bloggosphere are not being fair to Governor Sarah Palin. He is absolutely right! If he had picked someone with some real life experience in government other than twenty plus months as a Governor then we just might have “vetted” her less. No, John McCain picked an unknown Governor from Alaska that the MSM and left and right wing bloggers know nothing about. I for one think that it is pretty important to know who is only a heartbeat away from the most powerful political office in the world!

This nation is fighting a war on two fronts and John McCain has a problem with people asking questions about someone he wants as his immediate replacement if God chooses that he has to come home? Well the main stream media is going to pound his pick for Vice President into the ground till they know who the hell she is and where she stands on all of the issues and this is supposed to be a race for President based on issues. Politics at this level is not a gentleman’s game, not by far, this is where you better be able to step up fast and fight back fast. There is no topic off the table regardless of kind requests to do so by your political opponent.

There is only one person to blame for the rash of harsh reality based reporting of facts that comes with a presidential race when you pick an unknown person. That would lay fully on the shoulders of John McCain. The press and bloggers are not to blame for the million and one questions that needed to be answered on Sarah Palin. John McCain’s life is an open book, hell, he even has a couple of books you can buy to find out more about him. John McCain is the known person in this discussion and this election, Sarah Palin is not!

The treatment of Sarah Palin would be the same for any Obama candidate for Vice President but Barack Obama was wise and chose a well known and experienced person in the U.S. Senate as his Vice President. Someone with thirty five years worth of public experience that is all well known in the press. Someone like Joe Biden that actually knows how to move change through the congress and get the job done. That is what a Vice President is supposed to do if you were wondering. The Vice President takes the President’s legislation and lobbies it through the Senate and the House. Al Gore did it, George H. W. Bush did it, and so did Lyndon Johnson and Harry Truman. I gave those for former Vice President’s as a reference because in each White House they served under our nation came through great crisis and landed on our feet.

So when people tell you (John McCain) that the job of the Vice President is to inquire to the health of the President each day, it is a gross negligence of thought on how the office of Vice President actually is supposed to work. Furthermore, if that is how he thinks, then Governor Palin is just a pin up girl that looks great on television and not worth her salt at all. His definition of Vice President, not mine.

While John McCain is dead set on the Vice President office being a heart monitor to the President, the current office holder has chosen to use the Vice President’s office as a bully pulpit where not only is the Congress not seeing his service to America but his delegation to others outside of government is extremely evident. Black Water, Haliburton, and skirting the blame for outing of a CIA agent to his staff.

As for Senator McCain claiming that the press is unfair to Governor Palin, did he not read any of the press or blogs while Hillary Clinton was running for President? Hillary was torn apart on each of her positions and she stuck to her guns and her gut feeling on what was best for America. I’m proud to say that Hillary Clinton made it possible for John McCain to pick a woman as Vice President but the same questions given to Hillary Clinton are fair game for Governor Sarah Palin. Hillary Clinton won 18 million votes as a tough candidate that could handle the heat and answer the questions put to her in one of the toughest primary campaigns in history. Something that is expected when you are going to be responsible for almost 400 million American’s future.

Nobody gets a pass when the people want to know who the hell is Sarah Palin and why did John McCain pick her as his Vice President candidate? This isn’t just politics for bloggers. It’s about our wondering who the hell Sarah Palin is! Behind every blog is somebody with a vote. Some of us just happen to have a louder voice than others.

Palin Ireland Trip Lie

One of the things a Republican Vice President must be able to do is just make crap up on the fly. Somebody needs to tell Governor Palin that she needs to follow the Dick Cheney playbook a little closer so that the lie actually lives for longer than a week.

Great quotes and lies of the current Vice President such as “The Iraqi people will welcome us as liberators.” That one was a classic and then there is the one on outing a CIA agent with this little white lie, “Scooter Libby did it!”

Palin lied about visiting Ireland as part of her foreign policy experience
John Aravosis (DC) · 9/02/2008 02:21:00 PM ET

She didn't visit Ireland, which is what the McCain-Palin campaign claimed to Politico's Ben Smith on Saturday. She had a short refueling stopover, which means at best her extensive Irish diplomacy amounted to buying a sweater and a beer mug in the Shannon airport.

Why does Sarah Palin's duty-free-diplomacy matter? Because John McCain, who is 72 and has had 4 bouts of cancer, just picked Sarah Palin to replace him as commander in chief should he die or be incapacitated in office. Sarah Palin, in an effort to bolster her non-existent national security expertise, claimed she had visited 3 countries: Germany; Kuwait; and Ireland…

I could not make this stuff up if I wanted to. Sarah Palin is a walking time bomb for Republican’s with this latest lie. One has to give her credit for being deceitful in trying to fill Dick Cheney’s shoes but she does need to crank up the creativity of the lies. For one thing, a fuel stop in Shannon Ireland does not constitute visiting Ireland. Furthermore, it does not even count as any amount of foreign policy experience. Governor Palin should just leave all the diplomatic talk and any discussion on foreign policy for her boss that has a tad bit more experience on actually truly visiting and interacting with foreign leaders.

Governor Palin Investigation

John McCain came all the way in from left field and picked not only a woman for his Vice President but also one from way up north in Alaska. He blew all of us political pundits away with his pick of Governor Sarah Palin for Vice President nominee to the Republican Party.

When John McCain said it was going to be someone with the same positions and heartfelt convictions as he himself has it made me wonder how long he has wanted to be a woman when he named Governor Palin? That was harsh but something that made me go hmmm all day long. Then it hit me, one of her other qualifications is that she is under investigation, something McCain must have considered a must for anyone serving on his team. Come to think of it, lately it seems like being investigated is almost a prerequisite for being a Republican politician in Washington. That and the uncanny ability to deny everything and anything negatively thrown at you by an ethics committee.

Curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see what the “Investigation” of Governor Palin was all about and this is just one of the items I found very interesting…

It seems to me that she has the Dick Cheney gene when it comes to abusing her powers as Governor in Alaska. Does that give her a kudos as a Republican VP contender or should it toss up a flare?

Then I’m looking into her “Experience” in government and I have to tell you the truth it scares the daylight out of me that John McCain just turned seventy-two today. Sarah Palin was a city councilor in a town with a population of 900, then Mayor twice in that same town, then became Governor of Alaska two years ago. When John McCain says that the job of the Vice President is to inquire as to the President’s health on a daily basis I thought he was kidding. Not only would Sarah Palin be checking on his health daily but the McCain White House would be inundated with concerned citizens sending in vitamins, cholesterol drugs, and every other health maintenance supplement. He was not looking for a Vice President per say when he picked Governor Palin, he was looking for a mother type figure to keep an eye on his actual freaking health. Well she has the mother type figure part down with five kids of her own. I can give her credit for that so far.

Speaking of children, if she is elected Vice President, who is going to take care of the baby that is now five months old? A baby that some in the press claim that he has Down syndrome. Do you think that the future First Lady Cindy McCain could watch him?

This is going to be an interesting race…
