Revolution Forward 231 Years

America was born out of the desire of freedom from an oppressive government across the Atlantic that taxed our lives into oblivion. Today we are so much closer to that same ideology because our own government is allowing the powers that be to obliterate the middle and lower classes of America. By our leaders doing nothing while our people struggle to pay for gasoline in their cars to get to work and do nothing while we are soon to be frozen in our homes they are feeding the greed or feed mentality of its own existence. Somebody should get a Sharpie and cross out “We the people” and scribble in “We the corporations” on the Constitution.

Every which way you look those charged to defend the people are to busy looking out for what is best for them alone. Ignoring problems such as immigration simply because it might offend immigrants is the topping of the cake that is the do nothing at home Bush plan. We have become a nation of those that have and those that have not. The have not’s will pay the ultimate price to ensure that the haves continue on the path of continued wealth. While the rest of us wonder how to pay the electric or the heating bill this winter, Washington will discuss the dilemma over a couple of meetings and come to mutually assured destruction (MAD) consensus that no plan at all is needed if both sides blame the other in the failure to resolve it.

Is the nation as a whole just imploding with displeasure over the lack of reactions to OUR people’s needs by all levels of our government? Maybe if we renamed our nation the United States of Iraq we might get the attention of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Over at Reuters they have the latest polling numbers on President Bush performance as well as the Congress…

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Deepening unhappiness with President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress soured the mood of Americans and sent Bush's approval rating to another record low this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 -- the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month's record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month's record low.

"There is a real question among Americans now about how relevant this government is to them," pollster John Zogby said. "They tell us they want action on health care, education, the war and immigration, but they don't believe they are going to get it."

The dismal assessment of the Republican president and the Democratic-controlled Congress follows another month of inconclusive political battles over a future path in Iraq and the recent Bush veto of an expansion of the program providing insurance for poor children.

The bleak mood could present problems for both parties heading into the November 2008 election campaign, Zogby said.

Washington is losing its peoples faith in its ability to govern. Check the polls over at Reuters to see the peoples discontent in the government. If we as a people accept it as a fact that it is our governments job to only take care of just one class of people then we deserve what we get. If our leaders think that the security of Iraq is more important than your town USA then we have a problem and the polls show that. Then again you could bitch loud and clear at your elected leaders in an email or letter or even a phone call.

If you asked several of your co-workers if they have ever contacted their Congressional Representative or Senator I would be willing to bet that 99.99% would laugh as if you were nuts for asking. Most people honestly believe that the government does not work for them. Government is for business and politicians, or they simply believe that their government does not care about them as an individual and they are partly right! There is a very large disconnect from Washington and our nation. Our leaders do not care about us because we do not tell them to do so. We, the people that elected them think our job is done once we vote and it is not. It is up to us to tell them the issues we care about and are passionate about. If we do not speak to them directly then they are flying blind and thinking that they are doing one “Heck of a job”.

We may not need a revolution to step back from the brink of chaos in our American society but simply to vote in mass displeasure. Vote for change and vote out the elitists that cater to special interest groups. Stop voting for the people that the main stream media tells you whom is best for you. Get involved and contact your leaders in our government and that includes the President. Please send letters with lots of picture cues for the President. He likes lots of pretty colors in the pictures too.

Lobbyist Working around The, Them, He…

It was only a matter of time for lobbyist reform and the ability for big money to get back to our nations capitol politicians . More like the time it took for the light switch to be flipped up and the light bulb actually illuminates. One would have to be very gullible to think that lawmakers would ever separate themselves from the almighty dollars that ultimately gets them re-elected every couple of years.

I would tend to think that many lobbying firms on K Street in the District had advanced copies of the legislation and their lawyers had red penned all of the wording that led to open season on the “Waskily Wabbit’s” of Capitol Hill. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone, but lobby groups are plotting all sorts of ways to get around the new ethics rules.

Lobbyists and their lawyers don't want to talk publicly about these "workarounds," a.k.a. clever cheating. But privately I've collected a few of the likely ways that lobbyists will continue to stay close to lawmakers while not outright breaking the law. - Washington Post

I can actually envision a group of lobbyist from any given firm sitting around the corporate conference table with a Thesaurus, a Dictionary, and of course the Latin Dictionary. With the English language derived from so many other languages I’m betting that a few linguistics experts were called in to sit in on the meeting that would define the word “It” in every sentence and any possible alternative to the meaning. I won’t even mention the definition of “Is” because that could start a language race war in America. Librarian’s would be going after English teachers and Theologians would be launching midnight battles against Theorists. All that number two pencil lead would fly and the cloud of eraser dust would probably send the world over the edge of global warming.

We can look at this as just another way of lawyers and lobbyist getting back their form of good government or we can look at this as lobbyist showing we the people how corruption will survive in the District long after the cockroaches have left town. I tend to admire the cockroach over the politician for their ability to know when the gig is up.

Politics from Red State Perspective

I’m not sure if I could ever understand the mentality of the ever popular Red State blog? I like to see what other people are thinking and I honestly like to see what people that don’t think like I do have to say. This is America after all and voices in politics come from every direction.

For the most part I understand what a Conservative is and what they stand for. Less government, less waste, and less spending. What I’m not sure of is if you can be a Democrat with Conservative thoughts and Liberal thoughts? I’m not sure if Red State allows thoughts like that.

Red State has a post on a phone conversation with Congressman Roy Blunt of Missouri and I found it interesting just how splintered our nations government really is.

I asked Congressman Blunt how they were holding up in minority, how the party was doing for unity. He told me that being in the majority was better, but he wasn't thinking only in terms of his job. It was better for the country when the Republicans were in charge, he explained, because we were safe from the reckless nature of the Democrats: taxes, regulation, and spending. But the GOP minority are learning from being in the minority.

The Democrats are the party of defeat, the Congressman told me. Listening to Jim Clyburn, their number three guy, talk, the Democrats have banked everything on defeat. In order for the Democrats to be successful, the mission must fail. That's a tough position to find yourself in, he observed. - Red State

Now you have to read the whole piece to get the gist of it. I summed it up as Democrats are losers, defeatist, and Bush still has the veto pen. Is that our government at work? If it is then we need to toss in the towel and send them all home. Payroll will forward the fat checks to the address on file.

This is what is wrong with this picture… While everyone is shouting at the top of their lungs whom is more right (Correct) politically, the American people are not being served. Is our form of government broken where as it can not operate to pass the peoples business? Is the central line of thought to stick to your guns no matter what is at stake more important than serving the peoples will?

In the last election the people voted and the Republican majority was barely cast aside for reasons that anyone could insert here. I’m wondering if the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi are able to walk across the isle to talk to a Republican to get the peoples business done. Congressional Representatives are elected to serve the people and not their own personal ideology.

It seems to me that over the last couple of decades the people have been put on a back burner while special interests have taken the front burner. All you have to do to see that that fact is true is read the damn paper or any online news source to see who is being subpoenaed today. It does not matter what letter you put at the front or back of the elected leaders name, what matters is that corruption or walking as close to that line is almost expected in our nations capitol.

America has a serious problem and we all know that. How we fix it is the next question. I’m leaning more towards the Democrats in the next election because they have less members under investigation for corruption while serving in our government. Is that a twisted reason for voting or what?

Can Bush Stop the Congressional Investigation?

I’m sorry to report but this Liberal has to agree with the President and you will have to excuse me while I swallow that little bit of vomit that just came up. As much as I detest the never ending games President Bush is playing with the Congressional investigations, his closest aides and advisers should be covered by executive privilege.

Confidence in your aides and advisers is critical to the American Presidency and setting a precedent where that advisory capacity is in harms way of future President's trust will set a very dangerous precedent.

Congress should have solid facts in hand that point exactly at any aide or any office holder to levy charges. If there are true facts that can be backed up by more than one source then by all means the President should release his aides to testify.

I’ll be the first to say that W needs to be taken down a notch but I do not want to see the office of President become a figure head without power. As much as this sitting President has abused the office of President our Congress has to make sure that they do not cripple the office to enforce their own interpretation of the Constitution.

Bush Won’t Deliver Records or Aides in Prosecutor Case

WASHINGTON, July 9 — President Bush invoked a broad interpretation of executive privilege on Monday in his confrontation with Congress over the dismissal of federal prosecutors, refusing to comply with subpoenas for documents and blocking testimony from former White House aides.

Mr. Bush’s counsel, Fred F. Fielding, in a combative letter to the Democratic chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, said the White House and the two legislative panels had reached an impasse. The letter, which also said the White House would refuse to turn over materials explaining Mr. Bush’s legal claims, appeared to place the executive and legislative branches on a collision course.

Mr. Fielding wrote that Mr. Bush would not turn over any records related to the dismissals and that he had instructed Sara M. Taylor, the former White House political director, and Harriet E. Miers, the former White House counsel, to refuse to testify in hearings this week. - New York Times

Our Congress is botching this investigation. Far too many cooks and not enough preparation to make the damn meal. All the vegetables are peeled, the potatoes are ready, hell all the spices are lined up as well but somebody forgot to bring the damn meat to the kitchen!

President Bush will live out this Congressional storm because the Congress and the people chasing after him are not all chasing the same horse that left the barn years ago. While they make the recipe look interesting they have other intentions and that is what the political game is all about. Something to think about as you sit in your Congressional seat is the fact that if you put the first knife in the President’s political back then what could happen to you if you ever aspired to the office of President of the United States of America at some point in time down the road?

When President Nixon was taken down, it put the country and our government in crisis for years. Can our nation afford that kind of crisis today given world events? Who is the next football player from Michigan or the Peanut Farmer to fumble through the dissolved office of President? Who is the former movie star to bring back American pride?

As much as I hate to say it, President Bush has made the Reagan Teflon suit look like sandpaper and he will walk out of office clean as a new born babe. History however will restore his legacy to that to which it really was. Smoke and mirrors. The smoke will clear and the mirrors will shatter with what the truth really is. If he had taken down the house of Bush with his Presidency will be up solely to the historians to tell and write about. If his actions were noble then that too should be written and explained. There are far too many what if’s in our nations future path and this President is courtesy of invitation only audiences.

President’s should have advisors and a confidence in their thoughts and those thoughts should be protected. Executing the office of President should be done so with utmost concern for the law and if laws were broken then it is up to the person in the office to decide if he is just or worthy of his people. We are a nation of laws and not personal ideology. If laws were broken then the Congress must investigate and do as it must to protect the Republic regardless of the pains of the past.

Bush Lied, Cheney Lied and Scooter is Free

There is no proof more positive that this President and his crew are absolutely above the law than this move by President Bush. I. Scooter Libby will serve no jail time for crimes committed against the American people and its government because Bush says so.

America is officially up for sale when it comes to justice. Corruption in our government is only one simple coupon away from the Vice President's office.

Impeach Bush! Send him back to Texas or Maine or Levenworth. This is not a President but a corrupt corporate manager that just happens to be renting the White House out. This news only prooves that it is for sale to the highest bidder.

If your blood isn't boiling over this issue no matter what political party you belong to then you are not a person that believes in what the true America is all about. Justice is blind but it is not percieved the same way that it should apply to all in the eyes of this President.

This makes me sick!

So what are you going to do about it other than bitch and moan and reading this post? Calling your State Senator or Congressional Representative is a start! Let them know that this has your blood boiling! Get involved in the damn process and fix the wrong. No man is an island and this President is not a King. Although this President would like to think he is running a Monarchy he is not. Make your calls and do your part as a law abiding American citizen. Then bitch about it to your friends, family and neighbors and tell them to do their part!
