Best of Imus and Russert

If you are a fan of Tim Russert and Don Imus formerly of WFAN in New York then this video courtesy of YouTube is a must see...

View the video link HERE!

You simply can not hide the fact that these two brothers from another mother were the best of friends. Tim Russert loved to bust the Iman and in doing so it made for great radio.

Campaign Speech Writers Secret

One of the key things to any potential political candidate for President is a group of damn good speech writers. In every speech written is a message that you want to convey and apparently the Clinton campaign has a bunch of chimpanzees wildly typing and hoping that eventually War and Peace will come out. Hillary Clinton is in the mud flinging stage of politics and Barack Obama is if not far behind, catching up with her. Somewhere in the dust are the speech writers typing away with weeks ago news. Fire them ALL! Either the speech writers do not get it or the candidates do not get it. Either way, fire the speech writers. One can not blame the candidate for being wrong if the speech writers do not have a pulse on what is actually happening.

One word… BUSH! One of the idiotic and yet genius tactics of Bush/Rove campaigns was repeating the same message over and over again and neither of the Democrat candidates have clued into this fact. Other than “Change” for Barack which is working out fairly well and I have 35 years of experience from Hillary which is not working out so well there is a problem. Both candidates campaigns do not have a clue how to win this race with a knock out punch.

Don’t tell anyone other than the fact that you read it hear first at Papamoka Straight Talk about what you are about to read. This is top secret information from real people in the know on everything political. Pinky swear and spit on your palm and shake your mouse. Do it or you can not read any further into this post. I mean it! I have access to chain emails that will make your cats tail fall off and your dog will pee on every piece of furniture you own. Do it!

That was gross if you actually did it but I digress. The key to both candidates is not attacking one another but attacking the other guy running for President in the Republican Party. Shhhh! Close the door and pull the shades. John McCain is who they should both be going after and pointing out the differences between them both. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are two close to call opponents in this election and the only one that will actually win the race is the one that delivers the message against McCain best. Slinging mud against one another is like putting a bullet through your engine because the oil filter needs replacing. The horse power is dead but so is your transportation to work.

At this point in the political primary the differences of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton comes down to a popularity contest no matter what issue they are discussing. As a voter and a Democrat I’m good with either one. That is the dilemma and why they should be attacking not what they each stand for but what the Emperor in Chief part TWO John McCain does not stand for.

Both the Clinton and Obama campaign are welcome to contact the political writers of this site if they want a real speech written for them. We will provide the rough draft and how your handlers screw it up after that and let you deliver it is up to you. End result is that McCain is the target. Mike Jones, JW and myself Papamoka, have reasonable common sense rates. We see things as bloggers from a vast and different perspective from the outside that the candidates do not hear or are informed of inside the campaign.

Standard Disclaimer: Rates for candidates in parties not in our favor are adjusted upwards for adverse future social and economic consequences to the middle class and the poor. Be aware if you read political blogs that this may change your opinion on any candidate. Please see your medical doctor if you have the following conditions prone to Republican tactics…

Our Next President

With the fading days of the Hillary Clinton campaign proven in the latest win in Wisconsin today by Barack Obama it is almost a given fact that Senator Clinton will not be our next President. This is the 9th state in a row to vote overwhelmingly for Obama and that is a hill that Hillary and crew can not overcome. She has lost the inspiration game of politics but that does not count her race for President completely out of the election process. Senator Clinton still controls her delegates to the convention that will decide the Democrat nominee for President.

Toss aside all the hype over the convention handing the nomination to the second place winner, aka Senator Clinton. That will never happen! Yes delegates can change affiliation at the convention but the likelihood of Senator Clinton stealing the convention at this point is slim to none.

All of the pre-election poll numbers to date have been full of bad numbers and the end result is that they were way off the mark and the end result in every single state. I’m chucking the polls into the composting bin and hope the bacteria can stomach them. Same thing goes for the main stream media and the run up for each state and then they look stunned like a deer in the headlights when the actual voting results come in. If Tim Russert says one more time that he did not see this coming in one more state I’m going to throw a brick at my television.

Watching the Obama speech from Houston, Texas was amazing on the eve of his Wisconsin win. Where people have said that he speaks in parables of hope without substance I would have to strongly disagree. Apparently, they have never seen or heard one of his speeches. He touched on Iraq, he touched on health care, he touched on education and he touched on jobs being outsourced and forever lost to Americans. Barack Obama doesn’t list out for you paragraph by paragraph what each of his issue plans are but tells you in concise words how we can change the future in just a few simple inspiring words. Any candidate that got up on the stage and said this is my plan for healthcare in America, page one… You would be bored off your rocker and look for the gun to shoot yourself with! If you think he doesn’t have anything to say then you have never truly heard him give a speech.

Watching the speech he gave today gave me a sense of hope for our nation. If he can inspire the up and coming generations to get involved with what our nation is all about then that in itself is an American miracle. Camelot revisited once more if you will. One of the mistakes that the Clinton campaign has made is attacking hope in the Obama message and then trying to steal the message of change. You can’t have it both ways. Bill Clinton’s political machine is busted and so is Hillary’s by association.

Looking at the voting numbers from state to state change is coming and McCain does not have a chance of getting the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One of the numbers in Wisconsin surprised me that Obama at one point had more Democrat votes than all Republican votes combined. That margin of votes has held true state after state and McCain does not have the crossover potential that an Obama campaign would. If you include the Clinton number of Democrats voting it is more than three to one in favor of the Democrat candidate. This is just the primaries!

None of the big boys in the main stream media are betting on the general election but I am putting my neck out on the line that Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America and he will beat Senator John McCain by far. Then again in a mega landslide if he picks Hillary Clinton as his Vice President.

Moderate Voters and the Presidency

Picture courtesy of the White House

Having seen the last two Presidential elections decided by the narrowest of margins one could conclude that our nation is truly divided. The days of your standard Democrat or Republican are long gone and that may just be a good thing. Unlike the days of old when people voted a straight party ticket, the times and the instant media has changed that constant. Our votes are no longer assumed to be in any political party’s camp just because we are from any particular nationality or religious group.

When I first registered to vote decades ago, I asked my father how I should vote. I was just an eighteen year old kid and I had no clue as to what voting was about other than the fact that it was really important that I do it and that my father and I would go to the polls together. His reply was exactly what he was taught as a young man from Irish immigrant parents. “You vote for the Democrats and you vote for the ones that have Irish last names.” There were no issues other than nationality involved and I’m sure many people grew up with and voted with the same ideology.

Today, voting is very different. Elections are very different and so are the candidates. It almost seems like the gene pool has gone wrong and most of if not all of them have lost touch with the you and me part of the equation of American politics. Being a politician in a national race is more of a business than it is about serving your country. At times I honestly believe the heart of the process was railroaded and gobbled up by the millionaire club in a hostile takeover. Think quick and ask yourself who doesn’t have a campaign war chest under one hundred million dollars that is being taken seriously because of the media imposed selection process?

Our nations main stream media is following the money trail of the campaign war chest’s and to put it simply it is a business decision. They tell the American people who they assume are morons who has the best message from each political party because the advertising dollars flow from the top down. Advertising checks are cashed and candidate A from party Z gets coverage. Any candidates with no dollars to toss down the bottomless pit of the main stream media are ostracized from political coverage. It’s just business for the MSM but the ultimate loser is the American voter because the message of all the candidates is lost in the search for advertising dollars by the MSM that is in your home every single day.

Is that what the process of electing a President has become. I’ve heard it time and time again, if any candidate does not have one hundred million dollars to spend they will never see the office of President. What happened to voting for a candidate for what they stand for other than the almighty dollar? This makes me think that there is indeed a price tag on the four year lease at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue! Dollars talk and what America really needs walks.

Getting back to assuming you have my vote and you will not till I pull the lever or fill in the ballot to vote. It amazes me and bothers me that certain political parties claim ownership of any organization of people in America. I was reading a piece on line where they talked about the Republicans Party thinking that they owned or could count on Evangelical’s in our nation staying true and voting a straight Republican vote. Then there was another post claiming that Democrats owned or could count on our nations labor and Unions to stay true to the blue vote.

How do they figure they have anyone’s vote? Evangelical’s are pissed off for the most part because our nation’s leaders have not been the people they said they were. God and country became God and what is in it for me or do as I say and not what I do. Our nation’s Unions are pissed off because our leaders no longer support organized labor unless there is an election coming up. Telling the public what you want to hear and doing it are two different things during a campaign. Promises are made and actions afterward are two very different things.

I truly fear that America will never be able to elect an honest man or woman to the highest office in the land because his or her soul has already been sold out to the highest bidder. I’m still voting though! There is always hope.

Which one of these jerks is Irish? O'Bama, that sounds Irish…

Don Imus the Not so Perfect Racist Monster

Many folks are bashing Don Imus for his racist comments forgetting that many of us are just as stupid about racist comments all the damn time. This isn’t just a black American against a white American issue as it is making an example of Don Imus. As much as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would love you to believe that it is the white mans fault for all of African American’s life status that is not the truth about racism in America. The only one that keeps any person down no matter what race or ethnicity you are is you!

Maybe we should be asking ourselves about very prominent and well respected African Americans that pulled themselves up and out of the stigma that our society has placed them in from birth but they have become the establishment. The self righteous and pompous Reverends Sharpton and Jackson are just one example of great men of one ethnicity that have risen above that quagmire. Even if they prefer to wallow in the pointing of fingers at hate crimes to the point of forsaking the good that one individual has done for sick children of your own ethnicity. Both men of the cloth tossing the stones on the damned because it sells their own message. Selling hate is promotion and your reading this simple mans post proves that fact. Imus showed hate with one stupid comment, Sharpton and Jackson smelled the blood in the water and went for the kill and they got it with Don Imus fired. Does that end racism in America? It does not.

Racism is a learned behavior and if you raise your family to think that someone has the right to keep you down and out then that is what your family will become. Archie Bunker and his characters mentality is dead and I hope that America can discuss this issue more so now than ever. Racism is and will be a dividing issue in America and keeping it in the closet is not the answer. Firing a national voice that gets that fact is not the answer either.

When did the African American community elect Jesse and Al as their spokesman? Did Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick check off their names as his voice on his ethnic overall opinion? Did Collin Powell or Conde’ Rice both Secretary of State to the United States Government respectively have a vote making them both the ultimate mouth piece for all African Americans?

I have to wonder if the African American community has been hijacked by the likes of these two reverend's still fighting a battle from a generation ago. Don Imus made for an easy target. A huge target! Mega publicity target!

Ask yourself this question to see how much this matters realistically to you as a person of any ethnic background. Name one young lady on the basketball team that this comment raised national awareness to this level of diversity and disgust? Can’t think of one? What about the teams name?

This whole issue absolutely stinks of a few people making a big noise to make sure they are publicized once more as the self professed leaders of all of our African American friends. And yes I do have African American friends. I don’t see the color of their skin, I see my friends. The people that we celebrate birthdays with, babysit for one another, look out for one another and love one another because they are simply my friend.

Let us get past that Don Imus is a self proclaimed idiot and jerk with his comments on a nationally syndicated broadcast. Who is going to take up the slack? Who is going to badger our Congressional Members and Senators into doing what is right any more? Is Al Sharpton going to do it? Can Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson brow beat Senators to raise the death benefit for our military kids dying in Iraq? Imus did! Can Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson raise the issue and plague that is Autism of our kids to the point where the government actually looks at it and goes Hmmmmm? Imus and his wife did just that! The Imus in the morning show was not all about bashing African Americans. It was about bashing politicians to make them stand up to what the people of America need. Actions were taken up by this man on many issues. He screwed up once and now the Congress and Senate are free to screw us all over even more without someone like the I-Man to call them all to task.

While everyone is sticking a damn fork in Don Imus I think that they should really consider in the decision and the thought process if he is truly a racist. Kids with cancer are his families’ life work and they don’t ask the color of your skin to be a guest at the Imus ranch. My gut tells me that he was stupid for a moment. Isn’t that a shock for a shock jock radio host? I would have to sum up that Don Imus is ultimately a lower level self righteous humanitarian that f’d up once and that was all the ammo that was needed to take him down.

My opinion of the firing of Don Imus by CBS Radio has me wondering if they being the money grabbing whores that are its executives have caved in to the pressure of just two loud mouths that portray themselves as all of African Americans voice. What Imus said once was wrong. So does the baby go out with the bath water because she or he had a dump in it? I honestly don’t believe that Imus is the racist monster that he has been tsunamied into being by the main stream media.

I’m pretty sure that many of the main stream media will not have to hear his bitching about real life issues anymore. CBS made that possible and that is a shame in some respects.

His heart may be true and full of desperation for forgiveness but again I wait for the meeting with the young ladies from the team he so wrongly bashed personally. That will be the opinion I will move forward with. If they choose not to believe him then how can I?

Other folks talking about this issue…

The Populist has a say on this with serious information and contact info:

If you disagree with what CBS Radio has done. Call the following people:

Whitney Pray Communications Coordinator(212) 846-3906

Should Imus have been fired by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jacksons voice alone? What do you think?

Note: Any racist remarks will be deleted. Constructive arguments pro or con are greatly appreciated.
