Friday Email Laughs

Here we ego again with just some laughs to end the week. I really think we need it after this weeks news reports. We start off with a car that you had better not use any aggressive driving techniques or even think about leaning on the horn if this car cuts you off in traffic.

Then we have this one. If you know any true Italians they love their gardens and fresh tomato's...

Italian Tomato Garden:
An old Italian lived alone in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual
tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard.

His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man
wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my
tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden
plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would
be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love, Papa

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Pop,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love,
Vinnie

At 4 a.m .. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up
the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man
and left.

That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Pop,

Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the
circumstances.

Love you,
Vinnie

Then we have this one regarding idiots that we all have to deal with from time to time...

IDIOT SIGHTING:
We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two..'

We haven't used Sears repair since.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter. She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.' She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said 'We're sorry but they could not do that kind of thing.' The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change..

Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

From Kingman , KS .

IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE :
My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.' He said he was sorry, but they only had ice burg lettuce.
From Kansas City

IDIOT SIGHTING:
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded,
'That's why we ask.'
Happened in Birmingham , Ala.

IDIOT SIGHTING :
The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'

She was a probation officer in Wichita , KS

IDIOT SIGHTING :
At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker. She was leaving the company due to 'downsizing.' Our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.

This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

IDIOT SIGHTING :
I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on.

A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office, no less.

IDIOT SIGHTING:
When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!' His reply, 'I know. I already got that side.'
This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, MS

STAY ALERT!
They walk among us... And the scary part is that they VOTE and they REPRODUCE

Investment Banking Explained

Young Chuck moved to Texas and bought a donkey from a farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.
The next day the farmer drove up and said,'Sorry, Chuck, but I have some bad news. The donkey died.'
Chuck replied, 'Well, then just give me my money back.'
The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.'
Chuck said, 'OK, then, just bring me the dead donkey.'
The farmer asked, 'What ya gonna do with a dead donkey?'
Chuck said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.'
The farmer said 'You can't raffle off a dead donkey!'
Chuck said, 'Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'
A month later, the farmer met up with Chuck and asked,'What happened with that dead donkey?'
Chuck said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars apieceand made a profit of $998.00.'
The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'
Chuck said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back.'
Chuck now works on Wall Street. - Author Unkown

A WALTZ DOWN MEMORY LANE IN 2009

Courtesy www.discovery.files.wordpress.com

BY MICHAEL LINN JONES

I've grown weary of the constant schoolyard buzz whirling about presidential candidates. It has become tedious. And boring. I don't think I can take much more of reading tea leaves to predict who is going to win Iowa, or New Hampshire, etc. It has become so predictable that I've decided to just leap ahead a couple of years.

What my crystal ball tells me is no less accurate than professional pontificators, or any less honest. Well, I'll concede on the honesty part because with this crop of hopefuls outright lying is not beyond the realm of possibility.

But I digress from my digression. Assume for a moment that the year 2008 has come and gone, and we find ourselves a few months into 2009. Here I offer a small collection of what-might-as-well-be's:

President-elect Hillary Clinton stunned experts by naming her husband, former President Bill Clinton, as American Ambassador to Monaco. Relations with several European countries were strained upon learning that Bill Clinton "got to know" a number of female members of European royalty as well as the wives of prominent politicians. Republicans in Congress were also outraged that a special Presidential aircraft was permanently assigned to the "First Bubba" for his exclusive use. Demanding an all-female flight crew was the cherry on top for the opponents of the Clinton(s) administration.

By February 2009 it became fashionable (and required of White House reporters) to refer to the new president as "Hillary The Great." By March, President Hillary had issued more signing statements than former President George W. Bush had in his entire eight years of tenure. Some of the over 900 Presidential edicts are listed below:

Tax on cigarettes to be $150 per pack.
Possession of cigarettes to be a federal felony offense.
Frowning prohibited in public.
Any woman with a better physique than the president barred from federal employment (this resulted in a severe shortage of employees, solved only by a then-illegal data-mining of the Lane Bryant customer base.)

Tom Brady stunned the sporting world by simultaneously dating both Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. This might explain New England's 2-14 record after their Superbowl win the previous January.

Former President Bush was named as honorary President of Baylor University in recognition of his extraordinary grasp of economics. The university subsequently filed for bankruptcy. President Bush finally fulfilled his promise to sit on the porch of Trent Lott's Katrina-damaged chalet in Mississippi. The FEMA-financed cottage had somehow expanded into a 14,000 square foot monstrosity with a final cost of $18.7 million. Former President Bush observed that if it hadn't been for that Kelo decision the costs would have been much higher in running off all those poor folks whose land Trent needed.

Many were surprised that two hours after her inauguration, Hillary The Great ordered the arrest of Karl Rove and had him placed in Gitmo as an "enemy noncombatant." In a special signing statement, HTG announced that "enemy noncomatant" was anyone she didn't like, calling Rove a "fat slob" who needed "to be taught a lesson." Rove was released after 7 weeks, in large part due to the efforts of his supporters, who had purchased and established THE KARL ROVE PRESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT LIBARY (not a mis-spelling, that's the way they say library) in Tickturd, Texas. The library is a simple structure built in the middle of 40 acres of bull manure-infested pasture. "Seems kinda right to me," quipped one of the site workers.

With the total collapse of the home mortgage market in 2008, along with a number of large banks and corporations, the administration decided to take immediate action by using government funds in the oil commodities market. Citing the president's luck in cattle futures in Arkansas, the thought was that funds could thus be raised to bail out destitute speculators on the government's dime. This was known as "No Greedy Pig Left Behind."

It was not forseen (except by about 298 million Americans) that the price of oil would skyrocket. By March 2009 a barrel of oil peaked at $275 . President Clinton Her Ladyship pointed to the positive effects: with so few people actually having jobs or the money to get to work, the number of traffic deaths and injuries had plummeted. Al Gore was enthusiastic, noting that the atmosphere now looked a lot cleaner from the cabin of his private jet.

62 bridges collapsed in 2008, primarily caused by overloaded Mexican trucks. A Dept. of Transportation official said that a weight limit of 34 tons was being ignored, with many Mexican trucks topping 50 to 60 tons. However, this was cited as another example of the success of NAFTA. (???)

The Clinton adminstration blamed the infrastructure shortcomings on the Bush adminstration, who immediately placed the blame on the Clinton administration (no, the first one I mean), who immediately blamed it on the Bush administration (the first one, again), who immediately blamed it on Jimmy Carter. The Houses of Bush and Clinton finally agreed to blame everything on Jimmy Carter.

As we all look forward to 2010, we can thank our lucky stars that our leaders are looking out for us almost as much as they look after themselves.

Well, it's nice to think so, anyway.

Happy New Year!!!!

Classic Steven Wright

Michael and I cover a ton of serious issues here politically and we also enjoy some great laughs together. Just to let you know that we are not totaly serious and all politics all the time I thought I would toss up some serious comedy.

I happen to love the comedic genius of Steven Wright. He is what you would call a thinking persons comic. There are some points in his various routines that you may not get until it bounces around in your head for a while but I think he is a riot. This video is courtesy of YouTube.

One of the best pieces that Steven Wright has done was the one about accidently putting his car keys in the front door of his house and it started. So he took his house for a spin.

AHMADINEJAD DISPLAYS HIS IGNORANCE ONCE AGAIN

By MICHAEL LINN JONES

OPEC comment drives oil close to $95 is the headline for this AP story by Pablo Gorondi.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, called the dollar a "worthless piece of paper," and said the cartel's members have expressed interest in converting cash reserves into a currency other than the U.S. dollar — a sentiment echoed by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who called the euro a better option.

This is the best president a theocracy can come up with? What a putz. Referring to the dollar as a "worthless piece of paper" shows how ignorant this guy really is. Yeah, yeah, I know Ahmadinejad has it in for the U.S. We're the great satan, blah, blah, blah.

At least he could get his facts straight. Everyone knows that it's the U.S. CONSTITUTION that is a worthless piece of paper. Our own President Bush said so, and he should know since he's the Decider and all that.

His quote did not use the word "worthless" but the meaning was the same, I think. "It's nothing but a goddamned piece of paper" translates pretty close to "worthless" but then I'm no linguistic expert.

On top of that, President Ahmadinejad needs to do some polling of President Bush's "base," that is the "haves" and "have-mores" (as Bush refers to them). There ain't a one of them going to tell you that a dollar (or the puruit of them) is less valuable than a constitution, human rights, national security, or much of anything else.

So if the president of Iran has plans to wreck the U.S. economy, I have news for him. Someone's already way ahead of you on that score.

So you're wasting your time. Being Americans, we can destroy an economy better than anybody else.

We're # 1, after all.

I DON'T GET NO RESPECT, EITHER

BY MICHAEL LINN JONES

PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS HUMER HUMIR HOOMUR HUMOR. THE TEXT IS FILLED WITH EXAGGERATIONS, MISQUOTES, DECEPTION, AND OUTRIGHT LIES. IN OTHER WORDS, THE KEY INGREDIENTS TO A SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP.

Every morning I awaken to two surprises: one, I'm still alive. Two, I can still see. But it's despite the efforts made by myself and others to bring an end to one or both of these daily events.

Now I don't want anyone to go overboard with sympathy about the decades-long battle with my vision. There have been certain compensations. Like my local VA hospital has granted me my own personal parking space since I go there so much. It's approximately 1.5 miles from the hospital, but hey, you can't have everything.

Due to budget cuts, eye surgery at the VA now utilizes some rather unorthodox techniques. Instead of expensive anesthesia, your IV carries your choice of Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, or Bacardi 151. Then they have the chupzpah to advise you not to drive after surgery. I think driving drunk AND blind is pretty difficult to say the least. However, that 1.5 mile stagger to the car sure sobers you up.

Back when I had private insurance I had a good surgeon in Raleigh. I told him I was losing sight in one eye and couldn't understand why. He responded with the disheartening fact that he had just replaced all four tires on his Ferrari and to take that into account when I started whining about my eyes. What a kidder.

A vision-impaired situation places you in the position of being dependent upon others, and that is the worst. I was describing this to my wife ("trying to communicate" I think they call it) one day while we drove down the interstate. Always busy, she was brushing her hair, drinking coffee, listening to music, applying eye shadow, and polishing her nails. Oh yeah, and talking on the cellphone.

The fact that she was driving made me a little nervous. Her opinion, though, is that that's what those little asphalt strips on the side are for: you know, the ones that make that "runh runh runh" sound when your tires start to leave the road. Apparently it is the responsibility of other drivers to avoid a collision.

I'm not saying she speeds, but every car she's owned is white in color. That is to allow the Shuttle tiles (bought surplus) to blend in with the rest of the vehicle. They are quite helpful during the reentry phase.

Did I tell you she "drives" a schoolbus? At the start of each year she is saddled with a group of obnoxious, loud, and incorrigible teenagers. Within two weeks every student is a quiet (from shock and awe) religious fanatic. The school principle loves her on the job; she converts a two-hour bus route into a 20 minute dash.

One of her secrets is that she has the kids use a large rubber ring out the bus door. Like Navy Seals, the students must grab the ring and be flung onboard like a snared fish, gulping for air as they crawl their way to their seats. That's in the morning. Afternoons are simpler...they are instructed to keep their legs together as they're booted off the bus. At least she slows down.

There is a teenager in the house. He's 15. What readers don't know is that my nastier political posts come about after an encounter with this kid. I mean, when he was 9, 10,11, or even 12 he was a real chatterbox. Full of questions, full of comments, and VERY intelligent.

He's now in that limbo between childhood and adulthood. Like me, he'll probably never fully make it to the other side of the Maturity River. All I know is that this huge metamorphasis has taken place. Thirty years after enduring a college review of Franz Kafka's story I now know for sure that Mr. Kafka had teenagers. Imagery, my ass.

His hair used to be short, but like Samson I guess he has to let it grow for strength. The fashion now is to let it hang down in front of the face sometimes. Thank God I never used LSD because looking at him during a flashback would push me over the edge.

Communication is the real problem. They say that by age 5 the average human child has command of something like 5,000 words. Well, they all disappear for about 8 years. Most of what can be squeezed out of him is like a looped recording, "Huh?, Kewl, Maybe, I guess, Dunno,Whatever Dude."

Once I peeled him away from the Xbox to help me rake leaves. First, I had to explain which end goes on the ground. Then I had to help him over the disappointment that a rake doesn't have batteries, OR a remote control. Life is so cruel.

One Saturday night around 9 o'clock we heard someone being badly beaten in his room. After calling 911, we crashed into his room...his mother with a baseball bat and me with the shotgun.

It was his stereo. He'd made that quantam leap from Pokemon to Depraved Savages. He explained that the group was cool (kewl, sorry). ????? He spends the money he's allowed on trash like that? The "performer" is right out of one of those California-style scream therapy lessons. I vowed then and there to guide him on wiser purchases with his money. For things like Craftsman tools and LED flashlights. Don't kids understand ANYTHING?

Well, the cops were sympathetic. It was their third screaming music response of the night. They suggested earplugs. We suggested taking him with them for the rest of their shift. They smiled and shook their heads; they'd fallen for THAT one before.

I suppose I have things to be happy about. It's difficult, but I've tried to let those positive spirits lift me above the quagmire of my reality. So I started singing in the shower. Our neighbor didn't appreciate my meandering from baritone to trainwreck, so she took out a restraining order. The same cops showed up with it, and threatened to Taser me if I gave them an example of my repetoire.

So you might understand why I am particularly critical of President Bush sometimes. Okay, maybe he's got good eyesight and I've got the brains, but the unfairness for me lies in another direction. I mean, this guy has his own private toilet off the Oval Office that he can leave up all he wants and has all those Secret Service agents to keep his family away from him.

If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. :)

Things that make you go DUH!

Just cruising around to find some stories that make you shake your head in befuddlement. You know, the kind where you read it and you have the voice in your head that just says DUH!

Off we go on the Papamoka Duh tour…

Kids Lunch Boxes with Lead from China… DUH!

More than 50,000 lunch boxes given out by the state as part of its nutrition education effort may contain elevated levels of lead and the public should stop using them, officials said today.

The California Department of Public Health said testing found increased lead levels in three lunch boxes, which were made in China. They are green canvas and bear a logo that says, "Eat fruits & vegetables and be active." Officials urged the public to stop using the roughly 56,000 such boxes that have been handed out at health fairs and other events.

Drunk School Bus Driver walks with just Probation… Double DUH DUH…

FITCHBURG— The mother of a child driven by an intoxicated school transportation driver said she is not disappointed with the driver’s suspended sentence, but is troubled that the driver did not apologize.

Cynthia A. Lea, 39, of 62 Taft Road, Sterling, was charged with child endangerment after driving a child with autism home from school while intoxicated. She received a 90-day suspended sentence and has been placed on probation until May 2009.

Ms. Lea was scheduled to go to trial today on the last two of four charges resulting from the Nov. 10, 2006, incident that terrorized the mother of the elementary school student.

The child’s mother, Cynthia M. McCullough of Princeton, said yesterday that the district attorney’s office had prepared her for the fact that Ms. Lea would not serve time in jail because it was her first offense. What was most lacking, said Mrs. McCullough, was an apology for what Ms. Lea put her through.

Seattle trolley develops unfortunate nickname: SLUT
Associated Press

SEATTLE — Officially, it's the South Lake Union Streetcar. But in the neighborhood where the new line runs, it's called the South Lake Union Trolley — or, the SLUT.

At Kapow! Coffee, a shop in the old Cascade neighborhood, 100 T-shirts bearing the words "Ride the SLUT" sold out in days, and another 100 are on order.

"We're welcoming the SLUT into the neighborhood," said Jerry Johnson, 29, a part-time barista.

Stay tuned for the next run through of the Papamoka Duh tour…

I’m still laughing or crying… Duh is me I guess.

Bush Colonoscopy Findings

Just a few things that might just show up on President Bush’s Colonoscopy…

The section of the Constitution that clearly defines the wording “Do as you damn well please. Washington was supposed to be a King!”

The secret location that Dick Cheney has been hiding in every time the rest of the nation has been in peril.

All of those old signs that used to be in the back window of cars that said “Baby on Board” that were replaced with "My Son is a Marine".
Dick Cheney’s gold watch from Haliburton along with fifteen other solid gold watches from Haliburton engraved with "We love Dick" since he took office.

Top secret plans to invade New Mexico that had to be scrapped when it was discovered by the CIA that they were actually a State. Nasty notes about Bill Richardson were deemed to confidential to repeat.

Global positioning marking systems to clarify where President Bush ass and his elbow are at all times. The units were found to be defective. Who'd of thunk that?

One set of drapes with Dick Cheney’s initials stitched in over the seal of the President.

450,000 imaginary troops that invaded Iraq and the war was won in under 90 days. “Mission Accomplished”. No banners dictating such were found on the cellular level.

Donald Rumsfeld’s real plan to invade Iraq with just ten troops armed with 450,000 X-Boxes.
368,922 beer bottle caps of a brew only made in Wyoming but with a Washington D.C. five cent deposit return printed on them. This finding was sent to the RNC for further anlaysis.

The missing fifth Dentist in that four out of five Dentist survey.

Last but not least 12 million guest workers luggage that just didn’t make it back home.

All kidding aside, I’m hoping that he will get a clean bill of health. If he has been able to stuff so much bull up our ass I’m sure that his own ass has more than enough room for lots more.

I wish this man no ill will and I hope and pray that our President comes through this procedure with flying colors. Colon Cancer is a serious issue in America and after you reach a certain age you should think about having this procedure done. Prevention of Colon Cancer is only done through the procedure our nations President is going to have done. I hope and pray that he can walk away from the procedure with a clean bill of health.

Comical Wit and Wisdom of George Carlin

From the book Napalm and Silly Putty

... A must read for dark or mind provoking humor.

Short Takes sections:

"When Thomas Edison worked late into the night on the electric light he had to do it by gas lamp or candle. I'm sure it made the work seem that much urgent."

"History is not happenstance; it is conspiratorial. Carefully planned and executed by people in power."

"Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other peoples stuff."

George Carlin

<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>

I would love to know what makes George Carlin think the way he does because some of his humor is just common sense and many of us lack that simple trait. How he takes the obvious and makes people laugh at how stupid we all can be is simply profound.

I loved this book for many reasons but then again I like to look at life from a very different perspective than most.

Though this book is an oldie I highly recommend it!

Not the News Round Up...

This post is courtesy of and offered by my good friend Michael Linn Jones to Papamoka Straight Talk. Thank you Mike Jones for offering it to be posted here.

Written By Michael Linn Jones

Disclaimer: Anyone taking this seriously will be assigned to assist John Edwards’ hairstylist for the rest of the presidential campaign.

PU - (WASHINGTON) - President Bush announced today his selection of his new “War Czar” to coordinate the successful conclusion of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Bush claims that his choice, Nicholas “Just Call Me Nick” Romanov II, will do “a heckuva job” in finally bringing focus to the war effort. At a secret underground location, Romanov and his chief assistant; a mysterious man with the code name “Rasputin”, have already put forward several proposals for White House approval.

Said Romanov, “It is time to end the dependence upon the volunteers to further the interests of the motherland United States. Conscription should be introduced among the peasantry. For too long now, the nobility have carried the burden of sacrifice. The President himself has enjoyed only an aggregate two years of vacation while in office. This abuse of the leader must stop.”

The president said he has looked into Romanov’s eyes, and has seen a man truly committed. Apparently so; Mr. Romanov and Mr. Rasputin were both once guests of the National Center For Delusional Leaders Clinic and Butner, NC.

Rumors abound that Rasputin is joining VP Dick Cheney on a hunting trip.

PU - (ATLANTA) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich announced today that he is willing to rule the American people if they prove themselves worthy of his attention.
Sources indicate that Gingrich has grown bored and tired with his present occupation: delivering court subpoenas to those confined in hospital beds. “I think the time has come“, said Gingrich “to open the door of opportunity for all
Americans to benefit from my intellect.“ Gingrich also went on to say that he hopes the other candidates see the wisdom in withdrawing from the campaign.

Some in Washington regard many of Gingrich’s proposals as questionable, such as annexing Canada and placing all illegal aliens there, thus eliminating the need for immigration reform.

Also, eyebrows have been raised at his “Maximum Leader For Life” idea to replace the presidency. Scholars are most upset about the Gingrich proposed Department Of Historical Revisionism. This would, they claim, have a President Gingrich winning the American Revolution, charging up San Juan Hill, negotiating the surrender of Robert E. Lee, and inventing the DVD, among other things.

PU - Weather

General forecast: Periods of clouds and rain. Also sunshine and drought. Temperatures will be warmer if not sometimes but exclusively cooler, depending upon your latitude and the time of year. Also, it will tend to darken after sunset. – Gun Toting Liberal

Mike and his style of writing amaze me and I thank him for letting me post it here. Check him out over at the Gun Toting Liberal and you will be amazed at how much he makes you go Hmmmm?

Sad News in the Funny Papers…

Johnny Hart who was the amazing creator of “B.C.” in the comics of newspapers across the land has passed away. My personal condolences to his wife and family are extended.

I love the B.C. comic strip for many reasons. It was funny, it was inspirational, it brought a smile to my face on so many rainy Sundays as I picked the comic strip section to read first from the thick Sunday paper. His creative genius and in debt thought for his strip is similar to blogging and yet it is a generation before. His life was yet another tribute to the folks that have gone on before our generation and lead the way and shown us the light.

Over at the LA Times they have this post on his passing…

'B.C.' cartoonist Johnny Hart dies at 76
From the Associated Press3:54 PM PDT, April 8, 2007

ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- Cartoonist Johnny Hart, whose award-winning "B.C." comic strip appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers worldwide, died at his home on Saturday. He was 76."

He had a stroke," Hart's wife, Bobby, said on today. "He died at his storyboard."

"B.C.," populated by prehistoric cavemen and dinosaurs, was launched in 1958 and eventually appeared in more than 1,300 newspapers with an audience of 100 million, according to Creators Syndicate, Inc., which distributes it.

After he graduated from Union-Endicott High School, Hart met Brant Parker, a young cartoonist who became a prime influence and co-creator with Hart of the "Wizard of Id" comic strip.

Hart enlisted in the Air Force and began producing cartoons for Pacific Stars and Stripes. He sold his first freelance cartoon to the Saturday Evening Post after his discharge from the military in 1954.

Later in his career, some of Hart's cartoons had religious themes, a reflection of his own Christian faith. That sometimes led to controversy.

A strip published on Easter Sunday in 2001 drew protests from Jewish groups and led several newspapers to drop the strip. The cartoon depicted a menorah transforming into a cross, with accompanying text quoting some of Jesus Christ's dying words. Critics said it implied that Christianity supersedes Judaism.

Hart said he intended as a tribute to both faiths.

Originality is what Johnny Hart was all about and that is a thing that we do not see enough of in America lately. He created wit out of characters that all of us could assimilate with and know that we have been there and done that.

The turkey forever hiding from the crew at B.C. around Thanksgiving Day was always a great read. The Fat Broad always clubbing the snake to within inches of his life was always comical and genius in its delivery and art work. The ants and their parallel instances of our own lives made it funny because we all saw ourselves in the same situation many times in our own lives.

Johnny Hart was a great contributor to all of our lives and I will miss him and his work deeply. One more candle of light of the sixties and seventies generation has quietly been blown out. His message and thoughts are not forgotten.

God bless the people that bring humor into your life and make you smile. Johnny Hart strived to do just that for you and me in his very distinguished career as a comic strip artist.
