Facebook Paid No Income Taxes in 2012

Feel free to scream at the top of your lungs WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?  The largest social media network in the world called Facebook paid no U.S. or state income taxes???  BUT my Joe or Sue six pack pays out the ass and then some in state and federal taxes?  What is wrong with this picture?  Check it out here at CNBC.

"Facebook didn't pay any federal or state income taxes last year and will receive a hefty tax refund, according to a recent report.

How did the social network manage to swing such a nice tax break? 

Well, according to the Citizen for Tax Justice report the company benefited from the tax deduct-ability of executive stock options, which reduced all of its income taxes by $1.03 billion in 2012. 

The company also has another $2.17 billion in extra tax-option breaks to carry forward in the future, according to the report, which means Facebook gets to deduct a total of more than $3 billion in current and future taxes, according to the report."

Are you freaking kidding me??? Not one dime in taxes while they made billions?

I'm done... this is bullshit.  Where is the Elizabeth Warren at the IRS???  We need an Alan Grayson mentality on this crap.  This is wrong all across the board.  All of these rape the country tax loopholes need to be closed once and for all.  We all benefit from a strong government that protects all American interests.  Nobody gets a free ride when you get billions in profits or even working for a paycheck as a shipping clerk for a small company.  Nobody.

Is It Politics or Monty Python? What a Bunch of Moroons!

Good Morning Papamoka Readers! I'm sorry, but this has to be one of the most hilarious, and saddest, "serious" protests in American history. I keep thinking they're going to scream "gotcha" and admit the joke, but it hasn't happened yet.

It's incredible to think that intelligent, serious people are out there protesting for lower taxes when President Obama just passed one of the largest tax cuts in American history. Okay, not for the richest, but still one of the largest. I can understand if they're out-of-work and being paid by the rich to protest, which would be sad but understandable, but to do it because you're too stupid to look up the facts - people, that's just plain feebleminded!

95% percent of Americans will see their tax burden reduced because of the Democrats and President Obama!

Unless the boneheaded buffoons with the signs are all making over $250,000 a year, which is highly unlikely, they're protesting against something that was just passed in their favor! What a bunch of ignorant simpletons! Protesting against people trying to help them. You have to admit, they've invented a whole new category of political ignorance - TAX TWITS!

It gets even funnier, or sadder. Many are out there protesting GOVERNMENT SPENDING! They're like outdated broken political caricatures talking about Democrats as "tax and spend" liberals - sorry, socialists. Why don't you economic-policy-ignorant-imbeciles READ why the government is forced to spend right now? Any economist worth his degree is in favor of government spending at this time, especially spending designed to encourage lending, create jobs and spur the economy. They're trying to help EVERYBODY, not just the poor, you FREAKING FOOLS!

If you political pinheads with the signs were so principled and against wasteful government spending, then you should have been protesting during the Reagan, Bush and Bush Jr. Administrations. Yes, they're the ones who spent all your freakin money! They ran up the debt! It's true, over 30-years of Republican tax cuts (while maintaining popular federal programs to win votes and retain power) ran up over 90% of today's $11 trillion in federal debt.

George "the idiot" Bush - alone - ran up over a trillion in less than a year before leaving office for God's sake. Why don't you political nincompoops protest THEM?!

The only thing President Obama and the Democrats are guilty of is trying to keep the deepest recession since the great depression from officially becoming another great depression - and it's already close. That's it, plain and simple. The only way to do that is to prop up economic spending, regulate broken economic sectors, and reduce costs in industries like health care and energy. That's the only way to ultimately save money, invest in the future, and perhaps - over time - reduce taxes.

President Obama did a great job explaining it yesterday. He truly is the Professor-in-Chief of the nation. He helps the majority of us - sane, well-read Americans - understand exactly what must be done to fix the problems. It's the only way to achieve the goals being screamed out by the protesters - lower taxes and less spending.

Anyway, the whole Tea Bagging phenomena has to be one of the most absurd, crazy, insane, and outrageous acts of political naivety - or stupidity - ever witnessed on American soil. I must admit, it makes for a good laugh. Unfortunately, they may seem harmless, but they're not. It's morons like the "Tea Baggers" that keep voting for idiots like Bush, McCain and Palin.

They are the regressive, ignorant part of our political society. They are the ones who hinder progress through sheer laziness (that leads to ignorance), hardheadedness (their inability to learn from past mistakes), and desire for an ideology whether right or wrong (close-mindedness) - among other things. Yes, they're the dumb, slow kid who constantly cracks jokes in the back of class. They're only funny as long as they don't prevent the rest of us from progressing. Unfortunately, they've been far too disruptive for far too long.

Tea Bag Revolt

A friend that comments here frequently sent me an email about the up and coming Tea Party’s that are going to occur this week across the nation. The original Tea Party occurred in Boston in the 1700’s to protest taxation without representation and for the most part was the beginning of the stepping stone to the Revolutionary War. Republican and Conservative thinking folks will re-enact the event in major cities across America with the call to arms to Tea Bag the White House.

Umm, I kid you not. Apparently, our brothers and sister on the right side of the political spectrum are not up to speed on the whole Tea Bagging terminology and lingo of today. Note to self: Mail a copy of Hustler magazine to the RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

Biden - Palin Debate Winner

I’ll start off with just one reference from Governor Palin. Who the hell is this guy McClellan in charge of the military in Afghanistan? I think she meant to say General David McKiernan. That was a stumble on her part and one of many throughout the night and the debate. One thing was very clear was the fact that Governor Palin did not directly answer many of the questions she was asked. Biden did so with facts and figures and to some that may seem boring but this is not the television series “24”! It's politics that in this time in our nations path needs facts and figures to move forward.

Joe Biden spoke from facts and corrected many of the topics that Palin went off topic on. She was quoting voting records of Obama, Biden, and McCain and Joe Biden knew the facts behind each of the votes which Governor Palin was not privy too. Big mistake on her part on specifics.

It seemed that most of the questions coming to each of the Vice President candidates was answered more so on what the men actually running for President will do. Which is what you would expect in a VP debate. All but one, the role of Vice President and what it entails. Governor Palin sought the same stretch of executive privilege from the Bush administration where as Senator Biden stated the Constitution and the dangerous damage Cheney has morphed the Vice Presidency into.

Asked on what each of the Vice President candidates Achilles heal was, Governor Palin skipped the question entirely and offered just a stump speech of the McCain platform. Senator Biden listed several items that he is weak personally first then went on the Obama platform strengths.

All said and done, Governor Palin tried her best to hold her own but she was up against an encyclopedia of information on government and voting records. For every point she tried to make for McCain, Biden could recite several votes where McCain voted against it from health care, to taxes, to energy issues, and where she was wrong on Obama‘s votes in the Senate.

Two key phrases did come out, Bridge to Nowhere against Palin and a correction to Biden from Palin to get the phrase right? Drill baby Drill! That would be a drill here and everywhere in America point from the Governor. And of course Biden pointing out the fact that John McCain would not sit down with Spain, a NATO member becacuse he thought it was a hostile nation against America?

Biden pretty much linked McCain to Bush over and over again and that will be the mud that sticks to the wall of this debate. What also will stick to the wall is the fact that Governor Palin did not answer many of the questions thrown at her. She dodged the questions to go back to previous points that Biden had made. Gwen Eiffel had to ask the questions back to Governor Palin repeatedly.

On a scale of one to ten I would give Governor Palin a six overall and Senator Biden an eight.

Last thought, when the debate was over the two candidates families all came up on stage and stayed there for a long time interacting with one another. One of the things that warms my heart is children, Joe Biden bent almost all the way over to talk to the Palin family younger kids. Biden went beyond what is normal in a post debate format and introduced his wife, family and grandchildren to Governor Palin and her family, and talked with Governor Palin’s father for a good spell of time.

Gas Tax for Bridges a Wash for Bush

While Minneapolis is still diving for bodies our fearless pretend conservative President is threatening a veto on any gasoline tax to repair or replace many of our nations bridges. Apparently, Haliburton does not have a bridge repair or rebuilding unit and this tax will only hurt… ummm, give me a second? I’m not sure of the real answer to that question but I have a crack team of coffee shop prize winning economists working on it. As I’m sure the President does too or then again maybe not?

Every single state in this country is looking at the same problem and the problem is Bush. Our President hates bridges because it is a passing phrase for Clinton Democrats and all that hog wash of building new bridges to the new century.

So the logic of my thoughts is that President Bush blames Hillary Clinton because Bill Clinton rebuilt all the bridges just a few years ago. The bridges actually do not need to be repaired or replaced according to my Bush theory. Democrats just want to double dip into our nations treasury once more to rebuild the century again. I’m sure there are graphs and charts out there that prove his point. President Bush probably has a top notch team of graphic artist working on it as you read this post. Then again school supplies are in tight demand right now as many parents face the onslaught of the new school year coming.

Over at the New York Times they have this interesting story on why it’s the newly elected Democrats fault from the President’s perspective for our nations aging bridges not needing repairs or replacement.

Bush Opposes Raising Gas Tax for Bridge Repairs

WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 — President Bush said today that he would be opposed to any steps by Congress to increasing the gasoline tax to raise revenues for national bridge repairs in the wake of last week’s bridge collapse in Minneapolis.

And at his last major news conference before his summer vacation, he lashed out at Democrats in Congress by questioning their priorities and motives on everything from taxes to their accusations of contempt against Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales.
“Before we raise taxes, which could affect economic growth, I would strongly urge the Congress to examine how they set priorities,” Mr. Bush said.

“My suggestion would be that they revisit the process by which they spend gasoline money in the first place,” he added, accusing lawmakers of focusing on their own parochial concerns — or plum projects — above such national concerns as bridge conditions.

Representative Don Young, Republican of Alaska and a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, has raised the possibility of increasing the gasoline tax as a way to pay for bridge repairs throughout the country in the wake of the Minneapolis bridge collapse, which raised new concerns about potential problems with a number of the nation’s bridges. A plan being considered by the House committee would index the current gasoline tax for inflation, which would result in an increase of roughly 5 cents. - New York Times

Not that I am in favor of any new taxes but if the money to rebuild our nations “Deficient” bridges has to come from somewhere then it should be from those of us that use the bridges every single day that should belly up to the bar. With every single state looking at the same crisis as Minnesota, it does not take more than two eggs with toast and a cup of coffee to figure out who should pay for the rebuilding effort. My only problem with that tax levy scenario at the gas pump is that I frankly do not trust the Feds or the States to spend the money solely on bridge repairs and replacement. You and I both know that down the road the budget for bridge repairs will be hijacked by terrorist legislators to pay for something useless to the people that will continue to pay the tax at the pump.

Living in the state with the “Big Dig” self collapsing tunnel I tend to think there just might be a little bit of corruption and thievery when it comes to any project of this magnitude. Maybe the Congress could fix it but that would not serve their purpose. Rebuilding bridges across America would funnel billions in political donations into the coffers of political campaigns where the money would serve to perpetuate the crimes that would be committed to win the contracts. Meanwhile the bridges we are all paying for at the pump are still rotting ten and fifteen or fifty years down the road.

Not to worry my friends, there is an answer that is without a doubt that will fix this troubling problem. Money will not be wasted, bridges will be repaired and replaced. As soon as Dick Cheney returns from his vacation I’m sure that a new division of Haliburton will be building no bid contract bridges in a town near you soon.
