Have you ever seen the rain?

Now that the elections are over and we have a new President Elect that is bringing more change to America than this nation has seen since the days for Franklin Roosevelt, there will be some ups and some downs come January. My thoughts honestly run to the fact that I thank God above that George W. Bush will be out of office and can do no more harm. While all the rest of the media is talking up the downs of the incoming Obama administration I’d beg to wonder if they have ever seen the rain?

Have they ever gone without healthcare, have they ever lost a good paying manufacturing job that is now manned by someone in Mexico, India, or China? Has the MSM not seen the destruction to our economy by the Bush administration that looks the other way when it benefits thier political friends exclusively? America is in trouble and the rain is coming to an end, the sun will shine on America once more. All I have to say at this point is that George Bush is still President and he can still play the spoiler as he exit’s the White House.

Till the day that President Elect Obama is actually sworn into office the storm of politics and back room deals will work their way to the surface in the Bush administration to squeeze the last dollar possible out of the American people. Till that cold day in January actually happens we have to face the rain and scream loudly at it!

This election was close but the message and vote count was clear for change. President Obama will bring change to America and that change will start on January 20, 2009. Till then, this is still one nation under the control of George Bush. I have seen the reign... I mean rain and I know that a sunny day is coming.

Politics and Hillary

When it comes to politics and your name is on the ballot there is no female or male distinction on the actual ballot. Democrat, Republican, or Independent, those are the top three initials that will appear next to the candidates name. In politics your life, your history, and your entire past is luggage that you bring to the ballot whether you think it is fair or not. No topic in your public life is out of bounds. No political candidate for President should ever be immune from this process.

There is an inkling of fear in the MSM when it comes to confronting Hillary Clinton on the issues and pushing her just too far on the issues. Voters might see the reporting as bashing all woman and it is not. In some circles it is labeled as hitting a woman and abuse of the candidate but in politics it is and should be all about facing the hard questions even if she is a woman. There is also the thought out there since the near sob fest in New Hampshire that Hillary is out of bounds for the tough line of questions lest she cry. That is bull and if you think she can not face the same questions as Obama and Edwards then you are living a lie. A MSM politically generated lie.

Any candidate running for the highest office of the land is going to be vetted by the press and that is how we as a people decide who we will vote for. No matter what political party you are running from the bashing will come from every corner and it should be expected by all of the candidates. All of them need to be vetted and tears or near tears is not something that gives you a fast pass or fast track to the White House.

If the MSM is going to give Hillary a pass then they should do the same for the Black guy too! God forbid we offend African Americans on asking Barack Obama about issues concerning race relations in America. I personally can not speak for Senator Obama but he would probably tell the questioner that fear of your neighbor simply because of the color of their skin is wrong. Racism is not about the color of ones skin but the thought process and stereo type in your own mind. Get over it. Get real and hug a person that just happens to be black.

We can not piss off the Evangelical’s as well. Asking any candidate that puts God over country is way out of bounds and Huckabee gets a free get out of jail card. So do the parolee’s that he let loose on Arkansas. Forgive and forget or is it forgive and let them kill again?

If Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to run for President of the United States then her entire record and everything she has done that is good or bad is fair play in the press and in the bloggosphere. This is politics, this is America, this is where the election process goes and the people decide who will be the next President by asking tough questions and you better have a damn good response if you want thier vote.

Hypocrisy in reporting on all of the candidates can be looked at from many angles by the readers of the mains stream media. People are not idiots and soft questions to any candidate will be viewed as soft reporting and thus we have the bloggosphere. Real opinions from real people that speak from the heart. No canned speeches here from this political writer by any means.

Hillary Clinton has taken this political campaign for President out of the context of what it should be. The Clinton political machine lives and its latest plan is setting back womans equality back to the Archie Bunker days. Don’t attack my positions because I am a woman, I am fragile, but I want to be President of the most powerful nation in the world is wrong. That is not the route she should take simply because it weakens woman all across America that have fought so hard to get woman to where they are today. Politics and near tears do not mix. Either you are the toughest woman on the stage or you are the weakest link of American politics. Only Hillary can answer that question and the media needs to ask whatever questions we as voters might think important for the continuation of the Presidency.

David Hazinski aka Real Reporter

All over the blogoshpere the weapon of choice is the keyboard on a personal PC in order to slay the mighty professor of “real journalism”. Somebody regarding this whole issue has a very high opinion of himself and frankly he just might have the credentials to speak. Dictators and Professors are like that. My way or the highway.

According to Professor Hazinski, we (Bloggers) are all hackers of the English language and we imagine facts and figures and propagate lies. When we are wrong, we never post a correction. Bloggers have a private agenda that needs to be regulated according to the distinguished Professor.

Having just anyone produce widely distributed stories without control can have the reverse effect from what advocates intend. It's just a matter of time before something like a faked Rodney King beating video appears on the air somewhere.

Journalism organizations should head that off. Citizen reports can be a valuable addition to news and information flow with some protections:

• Major news organizations must create standards to substantiate citizen-contributed information and video, and ensure its accuracy and authenticity.

• They should clarify and reinforce their own standards and work through trade organizations to enforce national standards so they have real meaning.

• Journalism schools such as mine at the University of Georgia should create mini-courses to certify citizen journalists in proper ethics and procedures, much as volunteer teachers, paramedics and sheriff's auxiliaries are trained and certified.

Journalists generally don't like any kind of standards or regulation. Many argue that standards could infringe on freedom of the press and journalism shouldn't be regulated.
But we have already seen the line between news and entertainment blur enough to destroy significant credibility. Continuing to do nothing as information flow changes will further erode it. Journalism organizations who choose to do nothing may soon find the line between professional and citizen journalism gone as well as the trust of their audiences.

Not long ago I was honored to be a contributing writer for one of the most realistic “Blog’s” on the entire internet. During my time writing there I got to know the owner of the site and frankly, I consider him to be my close friend and a brother. I’m talking about the site called Gun Toting Liberal. Where facts and opinions are drawn from and debated by many well written articles in the Main Stream Media (MSM). Many of the comments on the site are from very well versed readers and combined they debate the issues on their merits. Something you can not do with a television broadcast, newspaper or news magazine.

When it comes to political opinion, the GTL and I do not see eye to eye on all issues but that is half the fun of debating real issues. Has he changed my opinion on some issues, yes he has. Have I changed his opinion on some issues, yes, I like to think that I have.

Over at the Gun Toting Liberal he clearly states what he thinks about the Professors comments and I happen to agree with him…

We ARE the “Press” they spoke of, Mr. Hazinski — NOT you and your biased mainstream media. The town criers. The suspicious Citizens with a pen, sneaking around, playing “gotchya” with our government leaders — THAT’S what a “journalist” does, sir. When you and your multi-national, huge, biased corporations failed to do this, you not only forced our Founding Fathers to roll in their graves, you lost your status as the “Press” and “journalists” and the respect of the American People. You don’t like it, I’m sure. After all, your so-called “profession” is a shrinking and outdated one and your livelihood is in jeapordy. Why? Because the “Press” our Founding Fathers protected in the Constitution had little to do with the concept of people becoming fat, lazy, rich and biased while sitting on their pasty rear ends with a pen. - Gun Toting Liberal

Based on how I write here at Papamoka Straight Talk and from what I have learned from other great “Blog’s”, David Hazinski has probably only visited angry bloggers afflicted with anger management issues. Sites where opposing opinions are met with personal attacks and name calling.

Maybe he needs to visit reality and understand that the American people no longer trust the MSM because they are all biased and rightfully so. They are running a business and making a living from the written word they produce. That is where the difference becomes known between the MSM and bloggers like GTL and myslef. Most bloggers write and report as opinion journalist and never receive a dime for it. Raising my hand here. Three plus years of writing online and still no checks in my mail box.

While the revenue generating machines that are the MSM play to the advertisers and report accordingly they are swayed to slant the stories they provide. Fox swings from its side of the batters box and NBC swings from its. Somewhere in the middle is the general truth and that is what we as bloggers debate on a daily basis.

Sit down Professor, you my friend are yesterdays news and we will leave it at that.
