Bikers, Muslims, and Jumpers on 9/11

America and many other nations are still healing from what happened on September 11, 2001.  A day in history that lives on with its own special number that everyone knows as nine eleven.  Everyone knows the number as the day we lost our innocents in a world gone mad. The day in which planes were hijacked and one of them crashed into the twin towers in New York and as it was live on the television news as the second jet crashed into the other tower. 

It was a crime against humanity from what our government says was a terrorist attack and truther's say was a government conspiracy.  It does not matter what any of the people declaring it one or the other as much as it meant to the jumpers stuck in the burning towers on 9/11.  They jumped to avoid burning to death or suffocation from the intense heat of the fire in both of the World Trade Center Towers.  They were innocent victims no matter what.  They jumped from all sides of both towers as the fire raged in the floors below them.

Do I know that 9/11 was the act of terrorists?  I do not.  The assumption of many is that it was radical Muslim terrorist by all newsworthy sources.  Just as it was likely that Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th so many years ago.  Both dates are unforgettable for the people of America.  It is human reaction to ultimate hate of another human being when attacked viciously.

A group of peaceful Muslim's wanted to gather on the Washington Mall on 9/11/2013 to speak about the fear of Muslims that Americans have as a nation.  In my personal thoughts the words NO EXPLETIVE WAY come to mind.  Pick another day you idiots!  And yes it was idiotic for a religious group to want to gather to preach to Americans on the worst day in our nations history when the people that professed to be Muslim killed thousands of innocent Americans on 9/11/2001.  The local and federal government in Washington, D.C. should have refused their permit based on common sense.  Based on the fact that this man jumped to his death along with hundreds of others from both towers.  A jump that would take almost ten seconds to reach the ground that was clustered with firefighters and police.

Along comes a group of Bikers to protest the Muslim gathering on 9/11/2013 that want a permit to do a non-stop run through the fair city of Washington, and the local government says nope.  No can do.  But that pesky freedom of travel thingy gummed up the works.  My personal thanks to all of the people that participated in this ride on DC.

  

I bare no grudge against people of the Muslim faith, the few that I do know are amazing and loving people.  Just as I know many Christian people that are amazing and loving people.  We are respectful of our differences and understand the fact that you do not mock another persons faith.  And you do not use a day of mourning for millions of Americans as a day to get the word out about your faith. That was dead wrong.

People of all faiths, I recommend reading this article by Tom Junod in Esquire.  A brilliant piece that may make you cry from time to time but a must read.  I find myself praying harder for all of the people that died that sorrowful day on nine eleven.

Osama Bin Laden Dead

It was only a matter of time before they got the son of a bitch. Thank you to the United States Military and all of the folks working in the background to end the long nightmare of Osama Bin Laden breathing. No offense to Muslims but I would have preferred that he would have been buried at sea wrapped in bacon or some kind of pig fat. Our military was too kind to him honoring his religious burial rights. Osama Bin Laden didn’t care about the burial rights of all the people he ordered to be killed on 9/11/2001.

With that all being said, I have to call FTD to send flowers to the graves of 72 Virginian’s and thank them for beating the hell out of Osama Bin Laden and tossing his sorry ass out of heaven. Express route, no security check, no luggage check. Straight to hell! If he thought it was hot in the desert then he really knows what the meaning of hot is now.





The end result is that the SOB is dead and many of the families that lost way too many loved ones can finally find some kind of closure knowing that the man that killed their loved ones is no longer able to harm anyone else. Do fish get indigestion?

Bush Admin Ignored Warnings Again, Leading to More Disaster

Good Morning Papamoka Bloggers - I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and weekend. It was beautiful here in Southern California. I would like to talk about a new AP story this morning that is saying the Bush administration ignored plenty of warnings that the current economic MELTDOWN was on its way.

I know many of you Republicans out there like to say that 9/11 was not the Bush Administration's fault. Most historians disagree. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that the Bush national security team ignored plenty of warnings from the outgoing Clinton Administration and from intelligence agencies. Many historians blame them for the disaster. It happened ON THEIR WATCH.

Now there is evidence to suggest that the Bush economic team ignored warnings of the economic disaster. According to the AP, they "backed off proposed crackdowns on no-money-down, interest-only mortgages years before the economy collapsed, buckling to pressure from some of the same banks that have now failed." They supposedly "ignored remarkably prescient warnings that foretold the financial meltdown."

"The administration's blind eye to the impending crisis is emblematic of its governing philosophy, which trusted market forces and discounted the value of government intervention in the economy. Its belief ironically has ushered in the most massive government intervention since the 1930s."

If you go back to the very beginning of this blog (Our Rants & Raves), you can read some earlier posts where I give my own first-hand exposure to the type of mortgage sellers described in the AP story. I worked across the hall from one - it launched months after Bush won the office. It was obvious to anybody watching that it was a new kind of mortgage business - it was obviously predatory.

So, it appears that the Bush Administration is not only going to be known for one of the worst and most deceitful foreign policy blunders in American history, the Iraq War, but it will also be proven over time that it could have prevented TWO OF THE WORST DISASTERS EVER TO HIT THE NATION - 9/11 and the 2008 Economic Meltdown.

I hope you Republicans understand exactly how much damage you caused. You elected a MORON! I know that you never admit it, but it's true. You caused more damage in eight years than any foreign power could ever aspire to. Your success at installing that IDIOT was the worst thing to happen to this nation since the Civil War. You devastated us.

Bush keeps saying in various recent interviews discussing his "legacy" that he never compromised his principles. He's like a broken record talking about his principles. SO THE HELL WHAT? Principles are important, but there's more to being a leader.

Why doesn't he regret his JUDGEMENT? He never regrets how he ignored relevant facts and made bad decisions. The man had/has NO INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY and HORRIBLE JUDGEMENT! I challenge any of you to defend the Bush Administration. Go ahead, I dare you. This is a blog, use it!

Incredibly, your support for McCain/Palin, two more bottom-of-their-class-bottom-dwellers, shows that you haven't learned your lesson. I only hope that you learn a thing or two about governance over the next four to eight years, and abandon that unbelievable willingness to elect fools as leaders.

Hopefully the majority of Americans, especially independents and fair-minded Republicans, will realize that voting based on fear, narrow moral views, or simple passion is not enough. We must always vote for the most qualified individual. We must always try to elect the person who understands the issues, subtleties and complexities of this very complicated world. I sincerely hope we never have to suffer through this again.

September 11 and Politics

When America was attacked on 9/11 I was sitting in my office cubicle doing the job I was being paid to do. I could not get updates other than a customer in New Jersey that kept feeding me the news. When the first tower was attacked, I, like many other people thought it was an accident, when the second tower of the World Trade Center was hit by an airplane I knew it was an act of war. What I didn’t know was who and why? I wanted to go grab my baby girls out of school and know they were safe. My boss declined that request. I should have told him to F off but I didn’t. Five mouths to feed counter acted my need for a job to feed my babies.

Why would people go to such extremes to attack a people that in all respects, no matter how you look at our political philosophies, always reaches out to lend a helping hand? Why? To this day, nobody can answer that question.

Today, I watched a two plus hour depiction of what happened on that tragic day and it got my blood boiling. So many innocent people lost their lives on 9/11 and not one of them deserved it. I’m a die hard liberal and it pissed me off. People jumping out of windows from fifty and sixty or more stories up to their death because they did not want to be burned to death. Reporters on the scene were quoted as stating that the thud of bodies hitting the ground was every couple of seconds.

These people were murdered and I may be a liberal but I am not a pacifist. When you attack my nation I will fight back! When you kill my fellow Americans just to raise awareness of your cause then you piss me off too! America is not a red state or blue state nation or tribal click, we are all Americans when you attack us.

I don’t care where the blame lands as far as what President Bush has done to defend America. He alone has had access to the information to defend this nation and I appreciate the work and sacrifice he has had to bare. We don’t know what he has had to do to protect America so I’m going off the Bush bashing mentality as a liberal blogger.

Which leads me to the next point. Do we want another hundred year war as in the days of the Crusades or to talk to the people that want to kill us all? That is a double edged sword when it comes to politics. We can kill millions of people in response to 9/11 or we can find out what the hell is really going on? Logically, none of this state of affairs makes any sense. We can just continue the status quo or we can find out what the root of the problem really is.

During the Cold War, every American President talked with the Soviet Union. Talking to your enemies is not caving in to your enemy. It's just talking and that is what diplomcacy is all about. One side talks, and then the other side talks. That is how you work out differences. It may not always be the best path but it brings people to a common understanding.

In the mean time, we have one politician running for President intent on a hundred year war and another begging for diplomacy. It is totally up to you how you vote. I’m leaning on the side of diplomacy. I still hate the bastards that killed so many innocent people on 9/11. We as a nation have to move past that point in time or forever be defined by it.

Something is wrong, how we find the balance to understand the reason and madness behind 9/11 is nothing that either McCain or Obama is running on. At this point in time they are running a he said and he said campaign and that is not serving the true spirit of the American people. Life in America is not based out of Baghdad or Iraq?

When McCain and Obama want to talk real issues then maybe we can listen in. Till then, my heart felt prayers are with the many families that lost a loved one on 9/11. Their pain is real, what are you both campaigning for President going to do about it?

If you want to convince Americans how to vote then tell us what you intend to do to protect and defend America! It is frankly that simple.

It has been roughly 24 hours since the slaughter ended at Virginia Tech. Details of the mass murderer are coming out in dribs and drabs, but at the time of this writing it is becoming apparent that he had a grudge. Whether triggered by a romantic failure, a dispute over grades, or just an overflowing disgust with those things American, Virginia Tech was a scene of terror. For whatever the cause, terror is what it turned into.

I noticed that while the bodies of those poor kids had not even been removed from the scene of their horrible death, Brian Ross of ABC had an article out about how the assailant “could” have used high capacity magazines, and that such was due to the failure of Congress to reimpose the assault weapons ban. It would not be beyond the impossible to assume that the article was ready and waiting for a day such as yesterday. That is not journalism, but pushing an agenda at a very coarse point of a already horrible day.

President Bush has visited Virginia Tech, and ordered flags at half mast. Flowers are going to abound in areas so as to allow people to genuinely grieve. Their world has been shattered, and as for those who lost loved ones, words are difficult to produce to descirbe their anguish, or to alleviate their sorrow.

Many other things will happen: concerts, speeches, religious services, memorials, days of remembrance, and the ever increasing anniversaries of that day; with each succeeding year the event will convert from a glowing hot memory of today to the colder climes of history. The heat of it will only reside within those who sent their loved ones to a place of learning only to bring them home in a coffin. It is sad indeed to see a parent bury a child.

The closure will come, as best it can. For some it will never even visit, but remain aloof and distant, like a mirage of hope. The hurt never goes away and despite all the technology available, it must be dealt with in private.

There is something unseemly in using this massacre as a vehicle for an agenda; any agenda. This is America; we’re full of agendas and it is safe to say they will never go away. But they can wait a week or so.

The unkindest thought that has crossed my mind comes more in the form of a question, and is not part of any agenda. This question, which arose in my mind late last night is this: should we grieve more for the families of these victims of lunacy more than we should the families of those dying and being maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan?
It is ironic, and also sick, that our lost soldiers and lost students share one common thing: they were targets of people who hate the United States and the American people.

Like after 9/11, we must come to terms with the fact that hatred is a powerful force in the world, and it oozes through cultures without regard to borders. What the scumbag did yesterday in Blacksburg is no different than what the scumbags did on 9/11, or what the scumbag did in Oklahoma City. They not only wanted to end as many lives as they could, but they wanted (and still want, in great numbers) to end the lives of everyone else through fear.

In other words, one’s heart may still beat and the lungs may pull air, but the heart is stilled through fear. The aim is to make us as rabbits in a thunderstorm, too frightened to move. Or think.

In time, a memorial to these people at Virginia Tech will be erected. That is right, and proper. Yet if you want to contribute to a memorial to them yourself, or to those of 9/11 or Oklahoma City, then LIVE. Without fear? No, of course not. But live DESPITE whatever fears you have. That is courage, and courage is what will defeat terrorism, in whatever form it takes.

May these poor people find eternal rest. May God have mercy and welcome their souls with open arms.

But no rest for the living. We have challenges to meet; to overcome. Freedom is truly not a gift; it must be fought for by each generation. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, we are perhaps not at the beginning of the end, but rather the end of the beginning.

We will never lose the struggle for freedom on our own shore unless we lose it in our own hearts.
