Patriot Patriotism aka Football

I’m a die hard New England Patriots fan and this story over at the Washington Post really ticked me off. New England is playing the game and not bragging about it for the most part. The Patriots offensive teams job is to score touch downs. Isn’t that what all offensive teams in the NFL are supposed to do or did they not get the memo? If the defense of the opposing team called in sick for the day then that is not the Patriots problem to deal with. Tissues are in the bathroom ladies! It’s football and it’s played on the field and not the gossip pages.

Up to this week the Patriots rally cry was not to brag or boast or say the sun is shining on the New England Patriots. Yes, they are the team to beat, but they have also been the gentleman of the NFL to not brow beat any opponent. From Kraft to Belichick and right down to the water boys on the team, they respect the abilities of the opponents for the up and coming game. That is the difference between the New England Patriots and every other team in the past that has had this much success.

Love 'Em or Hate 'Em, People Watch the Patriots

Watching the New England Patriots win is nothing new to football followers. They won three Super Bowls in four years between the 2001 and 2004 seasons and have been in the playoffs for six of the last seven years.

But the feeling is different this year, as Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady pursue a fourth Super Bowl title together and the Patriots try to join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to go through a season unbeaten. The Patriots, who some call the best football team ever, have become villains. They began the season mired in a cheating scandal and since have been accused of embarrassing opponents by running up the score.

Snip… Penalty flag

Now they're a renegade team, at least in the minds of many fans in the other 31 NFL cities. The biggest blow to their image came when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell fined Belichick $500,000 and the Patriots $250,000 and stripped the team of a first-round draft pick next spring for using videotaping equipment to steal the play signals of the New York Jets' coaches in the opening game of the season at Giants Stadium. The episode became known as "SpyGate" and created an uproar, with some contending that Belichick should have been suspended. Don Shula, the coach of the undefeated '72 Dolphins, even suggested that the Patriots' record might deserve an asterisk in the record books if they go unbeaten. - Washington Post

Maybe Coach Shula of the former super star Miami Dolphins should sit down and shut up with his asterisk comments. Every coach in the NFL has used the video taping and films to try and beat their opponents in every single game. Even the Big Tuna admitted that fact and Bill Parcels is a straight shooter. This fact is nothing new for news in decades. Sit down Don, eat your pudding and wipe your chin. Coach envy of Belichick is everywhere in the NFL and Don Shula is somewhat more guilty than the rest of the retired NFL coaches. He has a record that will soon be broken (I hope) and that is the thorn in Shula’s side. Records were made to be broken and Belichick and Brady as well as the rest of the New England Patriot’s team have what it takes to do just that.

Do not label the Patriots as the evil axis. They are playing the same game as the rest of the people on the other side of the field week after week. They just execute the plays better or out wit the opposing team. It’s called team work! One thing you can say about New England is that they are not an individual star team. They are a star in the NFL because of the whole teams efforts on the field.

Now that I have that rant off of my chest we need to talk real football issues. What the hell is going on with blacked out games by the NFL Network? I can not get the games, can you? Is the NFL holding American cable carriers by the neck with a knife or what? I’m really ticked off that the NFL is holding my pleasure of watching not just the Patriots games but many other teams that I follow hostage and black balling my cable supplier. Somebody send a truck load of penalty flags and have them dumped on the front door of the NFL headquarters. Follow that truck load up with some tar and feathers.

With the NFL playing games with the cable television networks where nobody can see the game unless you have the NFL Network, I am one ticked off, pissed off and grumbling fan.

Go Patriots and God bless the best sport in America today!

Side bar, check out Gun Toting Liberal for your NFL picks…

Speaking as a Patriots fan, I'm enjoying being the NFL's evil empire this year. They hate us because they want to be us.

Trust me, every single Jets fan who calls the Pats cheaters would switch places in a HEARTBEAT!

I am a HUGE fan of the Pats and I need to get to the Super Bowl. Does anyone know where to get tickets?...I have been looking around and I found an online auction site that is selling them for a pretty good price http://www.charityfolks.com/cfauctions/auction_verticalngo.asp?slrid=612 . They also have some pretty wicked party tickets (Carmen Electra, Playboy models etc..) I heard that if you buy from these guys you can deduct the tickets from your taxes (I might not have enough to write off) …I guess the company that is selling them, www.EarthLab.com is a not for profit company. I checked them out, they have a cool website, I think they have some kind of association with Mario Batali, and Al Gore. I also took their carbon footprint test which is a pretty cool function. I am going to check my score again after I fly to the super bowl and I bet my carbon output is higher oh well it is worth it. Anyway if you know of a better deal or another site let me know, I will take any seats.
