Scott Brown isn’t going to win

Will Massachusetts replace the Liberal Lion with the chicken hawk Republican?

Can someone please slap the Mainstream Media upside the head and explain to them that the people of Mass-a-two-sticks will never elect Scott Brown. I find it ludicrous that all of the right wing leaning pollsters are coming out with polling numbers showing Brown up by at most fifteen points! It isn’t reality and come later today when the polls close the Bay State will still be a deep blue state in the US Senate and somebody will have pulled a “snooze you lose” on the overdosing hyperbole right wing talking heads.

I haven’t followed the election as closely as I should have but I can get up to speed pretty fast and it took me all of ten minutes to figure out that Scott Brown is not even a close fit for the state. Political pundits and pollsters are judging the entire election on the healthcare issue that Scott Brown has vowed to kill. Last time I checked there were about a thousand other issues that people from Massachusetts care “Liberally” about and on all of those other issues Martha Coakely is right in step with the states voters.

So you have to ask yourself this question when it comes to this Senate election. When did the mass media decide that the big blue of New England is a one issue state? People that actually vote in the state are not going to chop off their nose to spite their face and every other body part they have to go lock step with a Republican that will sell the state out to the likes of Bohner, Gingrich and those all to pious talking bubble heads Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

One last thought and remember this when you cast your vote, that big old banking disaster, the current recession and high unemployment, two wars, $4.00 plus gasoline and home heating oil was all happening under the very concerned and watchful eye of a Republican lead Congress and White House. And those were the good old days that guys like Scott Brown want you to long for.

My final guess will be Coakely wins by eight or more points.

Mat so good to hear you say this!!! I know the media has been all over this story in a negative way for democrats and I'm sick of hearing the doom and gloom we're about to face in a Coakley loss! You are so right, you know Massachusetts better than all of us and we believe too! I hope the rethugs have their crow all prepared!! xoxoxoxo

I'm telling you Sue that you can't win an election as a Republican statewide when we outnumber them 3 to 1. Even if ten percent of the dems are pissed off about any one issue he still can't get the numbers to beat her. Hugs at ya and we will be serving the GOP and talking heads up some serious crow pie!

They are saying its the independents who are turning away and voting for Brown. Do you still think Coakley will win if thats the case???

I don't think independents will sway the vote any. Most of the folks that vote independent are democrats to begin with that choose no affiliation.

Counting down the last few minutes...

I've been reading the comments at fivethirtyeight.com
some are encouraging for a Coakley win. I think the pundits are way to premature in their reporting a Brown win. Won't they be shellshocked if Coakley wins!!

I voted for Coakley and I did so without a doubt that she's going to lose this one.

Many a liberal Democrat just screwed themselves by voting for Brown. No bitching when he turns out to still be a frog after they all lined up to vote for him and kiss him full on the lips.

Six years is a long time and a ton of regrets that he's going to build up in US Senate votes on behalf of the national GOP for the people of Massachusetts!

Sorry to say, but I hope Mass. Dems choke on their own teabagging bile. I'm just so disgusted.

Right with you there Nancy and I still can't believe it. It is what it is and the people voted so I guess we/they have to live with it.

I never claimed to be a phsychic Anon but for five bucks I could make up some seriously good stuff about the future. Lol!

Mat,

I am obviously thrilled with the results of yesterday's election!

The majority of the Commonwealth is independent and only about 37% are registered as Democrats.

I assumed, like you did, that this was going to be a Democratic walk-away but Brown is a credible candidate who is moderate enough to appeal to independents and conservative Democrats. Brown has charisma! And Brown highlighted issues that resonated with voters.

The combination of issues, a hard fought campaign by him and a lax campaign by her resulted in him getting the "Big Mo". Honestly I think I and a lot of other Republicans thought as early as a few weeks ago that he stood no chance but with more and more people finding themsevles considering a vote for Brown the momentum just built.

I blogged about this only to have someone say Coakley would win and maybe it would be different if there were another month. Well I think it would have been different, Martha could have caught up.

For Democrats yesterday was the perfect storm.

But don't fret my friend Brown will have to prove he's moderate to ever hold on to that seat and even if he does he will have a serious job in keeping it. Remember he's only finishing Ted's term so it's likely your seat again in 2012 - although I hope not! :)

As for the crow, I'd suggest eating it with some red wine, (or whine) and maybe a big slice of humble pie for dessert :)

Lefty,

I'm ROFLMFAO! Who loves ya buddy! I'm going to use the old crock pot for the crow and break out the canned whipped cream for that piece of pie bro. :)

To be honest with you I wasn't following the election at all before I wrote the post so I was guilty of not researching the whole scenario out. I will say that if Mike Capuano was the Democrat then I don't think Brown would have had a chance at all. Coakley comes off as a cold attorney like speaker and Cap is a kick butt sort of public speaker.

You are right though, come 2012 that seat is up for grabs and by the looks of things Brown will have a tough fight on his hands if he follows the decree of the GOP.

Thanks for the comment Lefty, I always get a charge out of you. Talk to you on the old blogosphere soon.
