Right Wing Eats its Young

Its refreshing to see the GOP look at itself more closely post election. I can understand a left wing crackpot like myself ripping Governor Palin up pre-election and that is how politics works. You pick your opponents opinions and statements apart and clearly point out how those differ from your candidate. When your opponent says something idiotic like Spain is in Latin America, or Venezuela is in the Middle East or even that Vladimir Putin is the President of Germany like John McCain did, then that is all fair game.

What I was not clear on is that if your candidate does not win the election then those that worked closely with that person can freely and anonymously pass out anything and everything to blame your candidate. Apparently, those in the McCain for President campaign that worked with Governor Palin for Vice President have the MSM on speed dial and there is no end to the dirt they are dishing out on her. Instead of looking at what did not work for them like robo calling they are blindly casting all the blame into one neat little pile and have christened it “Sarah’s Fault”. John McCain has come out and demanded this treatment of the Governor stop but since most of his campaign received pink slips on November 5th (Adding to Unemployment ranks) his opinion is no longer relevant.

Governor Palin is firing back and I don’t blame her. She does after all have a State to govern and most likely a Palin for Senate campaign to run. Over at the New York times they have this on McCain staffers trashing Sarah Palin…

By the end of the week, their complaints had escalated considerably, with Fox News quoting unnamed McCain campaign officials as saying that Ms. Palin had not known that Africa was a continent, not a country, and claiming that she did not know which countries were covered by the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Ms. Palin told reporters in Alaska that the anonymous criticism was “cowardly,” and that she had discussed the campaign’s position on Nafta at her debate prep sessions.

“I remember having a discussion with a couple of debate preppers,” she said. “So if it came from one of those debate preppers, you know, that’s curious. But having a discussion about Nafta — not, ‘Oh my goodness, I don’t know who is a part of Nafta.’ ”

“So, no, I think that if there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about Nafta, and about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,” Ms. Palin said. “And that’s cruel and it’s mean-spirited, it’s immature, it’s unprofessional, and those guys are jerks, if they came away with it taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It is not fair and not right.”

Then we have this from Rush Limbaugh on Governor Palin who thinks she is a rock star for the GOP! Rush is not at all happy with how she is being treated and calls those in the McCain camp bashing her reprehensible…

I think it is fair to point out that future candidates for political office are closely watching the GOP eat their young as far as the treatment Governor Sarah Palin is receiving now. I’m sure they are making a list and checking it twice as to who will not be invited to serve in their political future campaigns. I know I sure as hell would!
