Lance Corporal Kevin T. Preach

One of our own from my home state in service to our nation in our armed services is being laid to rest next week, Lance Corporal Kevin T. Preach. A young man all of 21 years old serving in Afghanistan in the United States Marine Corps from a small town in Massachusetts called Bridgewater. He passed away from wounds from an IED in Afghanistan. Too young and yet honorably serving his country willingly. God bless his soul. God rest his soul.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Central Square Congregational Church, 71 Central Square, Bridgewater.

I’m raising this subject because I will be there for him and his family even though I never met them or him personally. It’s called respect and I honestly believe that we need to show respect to all that have served and those that paid the ultimate price for America. I may talk politics from my extreme liberal perspective but Kevin Preach served to defend my right to rant and I owe him my personal thanks. Thank you Kevin and everyone else out their in uniform in our nations military.

Men and woman like Kevin Preach deserve our respect and honor and in that thought I am thankful to be a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders. I can take some time out of my busy life to say thank you to not just his family but to Kevin Preach when he needs me most. Kevin may or may not see it, he may or may not hear my heart felt gesture but those that knew him need to know that he wasn’t alone in his desire to serve America. Kevin and his family need to know that we supported him and we will be there for them. He will not make this last trip to his final resting place alone. My gratitude and prayers are with him. God bless you Kevin Preach, I can‘t shake your hand but I sure as hell can make sure you get the respect you deserve.

May he rest in peace.

Frodo posted "Frodo and Jesus" quite some time ago. Frodo attended the funeral of a young man from Mexico, who at age 19 took a sniper's bullet. The young man had gone to school in the Shire. The public was invited, Frodo went, George Bush did not.
He was just a baby! Frodo, and now Papamoka, have both attended one more military funeral than has the worst man in American History.

He, like so many of America's young people, are dying for the wrong reasons. That part of the world cannot be fixed by the US alone. I wish Obama would do more to end our lone sacrifice - it's too great. Rest in peace Kevin.

After a long morning of uncertainty, I decided to drive over to Bourne (from Sandwich) to pay my respects to LC Preach. I never met Kevin personally, but wanted to honor his life in some way. With school out for the week, I had no choice than to bring my 3 kids with me, ages 7, 5 & 3. We ran into the Patriot Guard Riders in the parking lot of McDonalds on our way to the National Cemetery. When they heard I was trying to find the cemetery, they made sure I followed behind them the rest of the way. I felt much better riding "with" this wonderful group of people. My 7 year old son was so moved by the grave-side ceremony, when we got home he took out our flag and asked me to hang it outside in LC Preach's honor. That made me feel so much better about my decision to go today.

Thank you all (BJ, Frodo, Michael and all) for your comments and thoughts. Say a prayer for Kevin over the many years to come and just think of him when you can.

Special thanks go out to Sandra who made the trip to Bourne for the burial. You my friend have class and I love the sentiment behind your personal mission for Kevin Preach. I'm glad that you were able to hook up with some of my fellow brothers and sisters to safely find the cemetary. You rock my friend!!!

Coments like those left by Michael frankly make me sick. Kevin was one of my best friends and to say he died for the wrong reason is discusting. He died doing what he wanted to do and what he loved, serving his country. He had wanted to be a Marine long before I even met him 6 years ago. So do not tell me he died for nothing or for the wrong reason.

Thank you Anon for your comment and tribute to your friend. I honestly don't think Michael's comment was directed at a very proud Marine serving his nation and living his dream. But I will leave that up to him to defend or explain further. If I had thought his comment was dispariging to the memory of Kevin Preach I would have deleted his comment with a note on why I felt it was disrespectful.

My heart felt condolonces to you on the loss of your friend Kevin. He will be in my prayers for a long time.
