Sixth Grade Projects

I think they are expecting a little to much from sixth graders these days. My eleven year old has to do a project or report on the periodic table and Ununhexium. What is a Dad to do when his daughter asks what Ununhexium is? My first option was to immediately default to the tried and true "Ask your mother" but she already left for work. Option two was a Google search. I love Google.

For the record, its a synthesized heavy metal with no known uses because it degrades to quickly. Which then leads me to ask why the hell did they synthesize it? I am so glad I'm not in the sixth grade. I think we can all blame Jeff Foxworthy for raising the bar on all of those fifth graders.

I think she is going to need more than just luck. I've got a call in to Dr. Frankenstine to see what he can do about having Mr. Einstine help us out with a little tutoring.
